Worst customer service!!! They told us they couldn't seat us until our entire party arrived, but while we were waiting, they seated another incomplete group. From the beginning only one person from our group was missing, and when that person was there, there was suddenly no space available anymore. Sergio gets a 5/5. He was so helpful and attentive and truly one of the nicest bartenders I have ever ordered from. It's Glendale parking so keep that in mind when coming here. This place is great for watching games, they have TVs everywhere. The food could use a little help. There was barely any meat in our fries especially for the price you're paying. It was more of cheese fries and a small plate of it. When we ordered the chilaquiles the waitress didn't know what I was ordering, although it's on their menu. The chilaquiles were a tad bit spicy but good. Their smash burger was great though and worth it. Things can add up pretty quick here, so keep that in mind. There are times when you just want some place to eat that is quiet, casual, but good. And, there are towns that make it easy. Glendale is one of those towns that is clean and filled with interesting stores and restaurants. Maybe it is the presence of so many financial giants in this little sister to Pasadena, or the people that have been pouring in for the past few decades, but it is an upscale, safe, friendly town with lots of venues that reflect its calm and uplifting vibe. I liked Glendale so much that, after living in Pasadena for a year, I chose to switch to a townhouse in Glendale. I could walk to everything and it gave me that city sense without urban troubles, iykwim. Tavern on Brand is a quiet, dark, cool little spot where you can either stop for an afternoon brew, an evening cocktail or eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner. For a small place that seems to focus on alcohol-based beverages, it has an amazing deep and diverse menu. We went there for a late lunch on a Sunday. What is great about that specific time slot, as I have said elsewhere on Yelp, is the parking is good (and that may be the best parking of any time in this busy town). We parked right out front, slipped in, got the table of our choice, studied the astonishing menu and chose Shakshuka, Fish and Chips, Parmesan Garlic fries, and Guinness. J.P. and Oscar were our servers and they were friendly and efficient. At the end they brought us a beautiful shopping bag for leftovers with the Tavern on Brand logo on it. If I were to change one thing? I think they should serve coffee! We had to go down the block for dessert and some afternoon Joe. Otherwise, this was a terrific experience. There was a great playlist in the background, lots of movies and sports on the big screens, and the food was flawless. Wood tables, comfortable benches, good silverware, spotlessly clean and fresh, with a subdued ambiance perfect for a lazy afternoon. We will definitely return. I've been to Tavern on Brand several times in the past. I remembered they had a great Happy Hour, so when a friend of mine wanted to meet up for drinks this place came to mind. Much like a Tavern, this casual sports bar has a welcoming vibe - beckoning you to come in and drink your cares away. The food is better than your typical sports bar fare, and their specialty cocktails are exceptionally tasty. You also know it's good when other bartenders come to drink, which happened to be the case on the day of my visit. I ran into my buddy who bartends at a few local establishments in the area. Upon arrival, Eric greeted us. He was fantastic! Enthusiastic, friendly, & attentive. Since I am a cocktail afficionado, I decided to give the Blackberry Sidecar a try. My friend ordered an Old Fashioned. I've been to many bars/restaurants that have served disappointing versions of these drinks but not Tavern on Brand. Both cocktails were on point! The Blackberry Sidecar was nicely balanced and the Old Fashioned was expertly crafted & properly garnished. Bartender Sergio is Legit! My friend and I a wonderful time. Food was decent. Place was cool too. Service wasn't bad. Over charged me for a beer I didn't buy. Manager told me they would issue a refund, but I never got it. The biggest scam though is when they expect you to tip on an amount that includes a cover charge. Had a bill of about $80, $30 of which is a cover charge and their POS actually makes you tip on the amount INCLUDING the cover charge. Scam. Smashburger was decent. Came here to watch the superbowl! In comparing the food, it's only valid to compare it to other sports bars food for a fair assessment. It's not fair to compare it to full on restaurants or joints that specialize in wings or pizzas. That being said, got the roasted mushroom Flatbread, Buffalo chicken wings, house fries and Brussel sprouts kale salad. Got the pear martini - a tad too sweet but not bad. The food was pretty good overall! All you need for sports food! Their service is great! From the front to back of house, they are exceptional. I would have loved to give this place 5 stars but please agree with me that I am not in the wrong for wanting to see a real menu????? I was treated unkindly by two staff members at this restaurant. One, because I wanted to see a menu and two, when I wanted a specific table. I do not like to carry my phone whenever possible so being forced to bring it to scan a bar code is ridiculous. The bartender was "forced" to walk five feet behind him to find a paper menu for me. He was beyond irritated with me for asking! We picked a table that had a few things on it but waited patiently even saying no rush for the other guy to clean it off. We were again very kind and he also treated us unkindly as a result and seemed to purposely take forever when they were not even busy to come over to take our order. The food was so good BUT they never checked in on us. I would love to go back based on the food but the experience was pretty bad. I hope management takes this review seriously and speaks to their staff. How about some paper menu us as well? read more
