Craig Allen Smith portrayal of Daniel Hilliard was, in my opinion genius. The comedic timing of Smith as Daniel was a breath of fresh air honoring Robin, right down to his impressions. The entire cast were outstanding in their own right. It made me laugh, smile and cry. This was my third show at the Shubert and I can't wait to see what else is coming this year. The TPDA community has provided the platform to allow our daughter to blossom not just in dance but in becoming a young lady. Tried to meet with her and discuss my concerns of feeling forced to sign my daughter up for several mandatory ballet classes to remain on the comp team and spending in excess of $5000 a year along with mandatory fees associated with the annual Nutcracker performance, plus a minimum of SIX summer classes which could only be taken at this studio even tho my 16 year old had a summer job and vacation which means she would be missing most of these classes yet I was expected to pay for them!! The comp teams were amazing and won several first place awards and yet none of the girls were allowed to keep the prizes or trophies so this, along with all the mandatory classes we were expected to pay caused several girls to quit along with my daughter. I was told my first payment for summer classes was non refundable even tho summer classes hadn't even started yet. I will say the hip hop/jazz and tap/ballet teachers are amazing and could easily start their own studio!! But after 13 years I would have expected more from the owner who claims to be committed to what's best for her dancers yet basically ignored the concerns of several dancers and their moms!!

This place randomly showed up on my Facebook feed, and it looked interesting, so I checked it out…read more I'm not exactly into trolleys and/or trains, but it looked fun, and it was cheap to do. Anyway, you take a short trolley ride, with really not much scenery other than some bald eagle nesting posts. Then you ride back and stop at a site with other vintage trolleys. A neat thing is the seats switch back and forth depending on which way you're going. At the beginning is also a mini museum which you can check out before/after your ride. It's a fun hour or so; one ticket gives you unlimited rides for that day, so it really is a good value.

Take a ride into the past at the Shore Line Trolley Museum. Your adventure begins in the middle of a residential neighborhood at the Sprague Visitor's Center- it's the ticketing office, museum and gift shop. But the real adventure begins just outside the Center's front door where you see a set of train tracks. Hop aboard a 103-year-old trolley car and take a 1.5-mile scenic ride through a salt marsh, past the sandstone quarries, cross over from East Haven into Branford, see a few osprey nests, and spend a half hour or so at the trolley barn for a lesson on the museum's collection of street railway vehicles. There are nearly 100 vintage transit vehicles on site. Our tour guide was a delightful fellow named J. Calvin, and he was a wealth of knowledge as he spoke about the history of public transport, the difference between trolley cars, street cars, and cable cars. We stopped at about a dozen vehicles for a briefing including a horse drawn car and a mail car. We also saw a very chilling exhibit - a NYC subway car that was trapped under a pile of rubble in a tunnel connected to the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. It was in perfect condition and after excavation was sent to Shoreline. I have to give another shoutout to our tour guide who did a great job interacting with the children in our group and made one little boy's day when he asked him to push a button on a pole, to engage the flashing lights, clanging bells and gate for a train crossing.

It's one of those hidden gem experiences that you owe yourself to check out whether you're local or just passing through. Woolsey Hall in particular is impressive. It's a grand, ornate hall with fantastic acoustics. The chairs are wooden, so the sensitive may want to bring a cushion. But otherwise, it's a world class hall that's impressively accessible.

Woolsey Hall is one of those places you don't hear about that often but you have to go there…read moreespecially if you enjoy classical music. Concerts usually range from free admission to $10. You can't go wrong and the music is spectacular! If you Google the Yale school of music concert list you will get all of the upcoming concerts. Some also happen during the week and there are also a few jazz concerts during the semester at Sprague hall next-door. I have seen award-winning musicians at both venues. If you go there make sure you look up at the ceiling and back over the second balcony. Also, make sure you sit on the first balcony in the center if it's not reserved, you will get a better view and hear better sound.
