This is my first time actually shopping in REI and as an experienced hiker but beginner in camping there were many options to choose from and everyone in the store was extremely helpful and friendly. I would like to shoutout one employee though, Dave. Dave went above and beyond and made sure I and the people I was with were as well. Super knowledgeable and helped find the solutions and gave the best customer service I've ever experience. I rarely write reviews for a retail store but I had to. Dave made the experience a noteworthy one and looking forward to coming back into the store. All 3 of us were impressed and REI customers for life!

I had difficulty finding pack for an upcoming trail in South America at this location. I was hoping to try on an Osprey Atoms Ag Lt 65 but unfortunately this was not in stock despite being listed online. I ended up wasting a trip. That said, the staff was plentiful and eager to help.

Today I was assisted with a large pick up item by Rob, Sebastian, and an older gentleman whose name I cannot remember. They were WONDERFUL. In 100 degree heat they opened my box for me, got it in my vehicle, and were beyond pleasant. They were affable, easygoing, and knowledgeable. I highly recommend REI for its perks, and it makes me happy to purchase from a company that hires excellent employees.

Stopped by here and it was an awesome store. The staff were extremely helpful, welcoming, and upbeat. They carried a fantastic inventory, in fact, it was up there with one of the nicer REI's I've visited. They had a great selection of camping, kayak/paddle boards, and surprising inventory and variety of climbing gear which was cool. They also had a great selection of clothing with a ton of inventory. Their bike section was pretty large, though limited in brand selection carrying the typical REI stack -Cannondale, etc. The store was easy to spot from the surrounding streets and had a nice sized parking lot immediately outside. Overall a great store, great staff, and great experience.

By the way, the mountain house beef stew was delicious!

It's been YEARS since I have stepped foot into an REI and I'm kicking myself that I haven't come back sooner! My fiancé and I were planning for our weekend camping trip near San Antonio and completely forgot to pick up a butane can for our stove. We walked in needing a $4 item and ended up leaving with more than $30 of stuff we absolutely needed I was impressed with not only their selection and prices, but also the friendliness and knowledge of their employees. Everyone was so nice and we were asked multiple times if we needed assistance. They have a great selection of camping tools and equipment, bikes, canoes, kyaks, shoes, hiking packs, and much much more. We will definitely be back very soon and I recommend anyone reading this to also stop in, it's worth the trip.

The knife with the black sheath was apparently not $60, although the price was next to it. Buyers beware.

The experience was always a little dowdy, melancholy and less than. Then I went to the North Lamar location - essentially 11th & Lamar - and what a difference. First of all, clear directions and clarity around Covid procedures. People waiting at the door to guide you and help you. A chill "we have it, so don't rush" attitude prevailed. Hand sanitizer at the door along with personal help from a friendly greeter. The store itself was bright (lots of outside sunshine coming in) and clean with displays well-marked and aisles you could actually walk through. When I checked out the cashier was helpful, prompt and courteous and understood how to socially distance a friendly exchange. Look, Covid is a bitch and things will never be the same; perhaps that's not all bad. Whole Earth on North Lamar has figured out how to be safe and yet friendly with quality products, fair pricing, a clean environment and people who want to help you. Now, remember: stay home if at all possible. But, when you go out, hit Whole Earth up. You'll be glad you did.

The first time I went I felt like I was borderline being followed around by staff without even being spoken to. They have a lot of potential to be great if they just had friendlier rapport with customers.

***Placed Online Order for Pickup***…read more Since I've been living in California, I had no clue of the Stanley craze that's been happening for years...including how people flesh their tumblers out with accessories. California seems to be more of a Yeti state and I didn't once see accessorized tumblers there. Anyway, I'm catching up. I decided to go retro 80s with mine since I'm an 80s baby and I purchased a 40 oz Stanley Hyper Geo Tumbler to get the vibe going...setting my online purchase pickup for this location. It was ready within a matter of minutes. YESSSSS! But when I got to the location, I couldn't tell what was the front of the store, the side of the store, the back of the store. One side even had black plastic tarp of some sort covering all of the window s from floor to ceiling on the inside, confusing me as if it were a closed location under renovation. Once I called, I was prompted to keep driving all the way around the building to the "Macy's side" of the store and voila...found it. Walked up to the cash register for help and he followed me over to pickup, checked my name and I was good to go. I can't speak on what service is like outside of online orders, but the process for the online order was SUPER quick and fairly smooth. REMEMBER: The entrance is on the Macy's side.

They have clothes. They have jerky and jams. They have toys. It's a very nice store. We went there yesterday and took the kids to see Santa. They have a very good Santa! We were pleased in our child was in magic land, which is where she should be at Christmas time. The reason I'm giving Bass Pro shops four stars is because the last time I was here I brought my gun in for service and their method is that the girls in front have to disarm the gun before you can walk into the store. So even though my six shooter was not loaded, they had to look it over and in doing so they took it apart and bent the spring. They had to send my gun into Ruger to get it repaired-- and they did so. They did not try to pass off responsibility. They were very sorry that they broke my beautiful bear cat six shooter. But the fact is they did and it brought me discomfort. I will be back here to shop, but I will never bring my gun here for any reason whatsoever. As for value, some of the products are overpriced and some aren't. Just pay attention. They do have some unique items that you probably won't find anywhere else in this area. I do recommend the store, but I don't recommend getting your gun serviced here.
