I've always loved REI. I first became a member back in the 70's when (as I recall) they were a mail order store. Today, I was sweltering because I wore a sweater, and temps in this part of Oregon are warm. REI to the rescue. I got a new Columbia shirt, cashed in my dividends for last year, and I'm back in vacation mode. Thanks REI!

We needed new backpacks for a serious hiking trip, so we decided to go to REI. We were greeted by a really friendly gentleman that helped us and worked with us for quit a long time to find the perfect pack for each of us, I didn't realize how important it was to get the right fit. This mans experience and advice was immeasurable in value to us. Thank you REI!

    Ask the Community - REI

Is REI aim Hillsboro open during COVID? YELP says that it is temporary closed. But on the phone, it says that they require mask. Sounds like they are open but it would be great to confirm before driving all the way there. Thanks.

They are open and require masks.

Over the weekend, our family decided to go to DSG, we ended up spending $149~, it was $100 gift cards and the rest was cash. I didn't realize my toddler slipped in some random $17 socks, so I went in the next day to return them. I was met with Oscar, he was nice. I asked if I could get a cash refund since it was a small amount, he said no, due to it's based on whatever majority payment method was used. I leave it at that, I am disappointed because I really don't need $17 gc, I would like cash back. As I am walking back I am reading the back of the receipt, where it says refund will be made on initial form of payment, not majority used like Oscar advised. I spoke with my husband who was frustrated, told him what I read and what was said. My husband thought of work around, we can buy a more expensive item, use cash first for the majority and use the gift cards for the rest. So my husband goes in to try that. Oscar explains, no we can't do that, that it's the system gravitating towards a card. My husband points out what the receipt says, Oscar says it shows on the website, but does not bring it up. My husband returns to the car frustrated, because Oscar just lied and instead of asking for helped, insisted on dying on the hill the customer isn't always right. At this point, I'm going back into the store. I see Oscar talking among his colleagues talking about what just happened with my husband. Im still nice, but I request a supervisor. Supervisor explains Oscar is wrong it's not Majority it's just how the system works. I ask him, how does he want to correct this, and he just offers to cash it. It was such a simple fix. Oscar just needed guidance on how to navigate. I felt like this issue didn't need us as many times going into the store, If Oscar just asked for guidance in the beginning. It was frustrating experience overall. I'm glad we got the result we wanted, but just having to go through hoops, and it was a waste of time. Personally for me, this location left a poor taste, just because I am in customer service. I felt like the training could have been better. I appreciate the supervisor making it right.

**Firearm Counter Review**…read more These guys are absolutely horrendous. There's two young ladies that work the counter that I never had issues picking up online firearm orders from. I had such a terrible experience with the last firearm purchase that I finally said "to hell with it just give me a refund". At this point I would rather spend the money at Cabela's/Bass Pro. The manager back there, Jeff, treats you like an absolute burden. Instead of applying customer service and working to help you, he's dismissive, arrogant and ridiculously rude. Worst customer service I have had in a VERY long time, probably ever. I bought 4 other firearms here in the last 90 days to add to my collection, and THIS WAS THE LAST TIME I DID ANY BUSINESS HERE! If you have to go here, deal with the young ladies who work the counter. Everyone else is only going to waste your time, make you take 2-3 trips to the store just to say "We can't do anything for you, sorry", blow you off and look relieved about it. ***NOT WORTH SPENDING YOUR MONEY HERE - GO TO CABELAS/BASS PRO JUST DOWN THE I-5***

Albeit they provide more freshwater fishing gear versus saltwater, but I usually find exactly what i need. Plus, this type of fishing gear is expected for Oregon. Not only do they have fishing gear, but they've got an endless amount of camping equipment, outdoor shoes, firearms, archery gear, kayaks, Carhartt clothing, pellet grills, and much more. If I lived closer to Bass Pro Shop or Cabela's, I'd go there, but I feel they have the same quality type of products here at Sportsmans Warehouse. And the prices are slightly lower price in my opinion. I can go to Big5, but their big sale items usually are considered cheap (some items, not all). I don't mind the text or email ads regarding what's on sale because I'll usually find a really good deal from time to time. Depending on the season. That's just another plus in my book! The main reason for this review is actually for associate, Colby. He helped me from start to finish with a major purchase. Answered many of my questions and offered useful knowledge. I'll be making more purchases here in the future for sure. Thanks Colby!

The store is huge, has many departments - swim, camping, women's, men's and children's apparel, hiking, biking, hats and accessories, fitness items, winter coats, rain gear and more. But within some areas, there is hardly any merchandise. For example, the Swim section was minimal. There was a big sign and display, but turns out that was it. Literally just a handful of swimsuits, one or two rash guards, no goggles, fins or gear. Did I mention just a handful of swimsuits? Was highly disappointed but since I was there, decided to walk the aisles. The vast majority of the store is filled with clothing. Racks and racks of clothing. Like it's sister store and neighbor, Marshall's, they must get leftover clothing from other stores and sell at a discount. There are definitely good finds among the racks, but I wasn't shopping for clothing and didn't have the patience. Ended up buying a wide brimmed sun hat with SPF of 50 for just $16.99. There were only three customers at the checkout but it still seemed to take forever. Of course this area is filled with a plethora of spontaneous purchases - trail mix, gadgets of every kind, hiking books, flashlights, etc. For me, Sierra will never be a destination like Marshall's where I will go far out of my way to visit. But for those who want outdoorsy clothing, this could be your Marshall's.

The staff is friendly without hovering, and they're genuinely helpful if you need sizing or product recommendations. The real highlight? The pricing. Deep discounts across Columbia, Mountain Hardwear, SOREL, and prAna make it very hard to leave empty-handed. It's the kind of place where you go in "just to look" and walk out fully outfitted for your next hiking trip, ski season, or rainy Portland winter. Inventory rotates, so every visit feels a little different. I've found everything from lightweight summer layers to serious winter parkas. Quality is exactly what you expect from Columbia -- durable, functional, and built for the Pacific Northwest. Pro tip: Go in with a plan (and maybe a budget). It's dangerously good.
