I needed some maintenance on a bike that had been neglected for a while. They helped me find the right inner tubes and showed me how to tell whether the tires needed replacement (which I was worried about) or if they were still fine (turns out they were fine). I was in need of a lock for my bike and I wanted to go to an actual bike shop rather than a big box store. We were heading to a hotel nearby (okay, if you must know, McMenamins Grand Lodge) and this popped up on my GPS. Yay for being open. I only saw two employees and they were both masked. Even the one in the back working alone. That was nice. Why 4 stars? They only had one bike lock and not other options. Honestly, the person who was helping me said that he could order any lock that I needed. If only I lived nearby I would take him up on the offer. Since I do not, it would have been nice to at least have a second option. One of the things that I liked about the place was that they had this bike rack inside and were able to show me how to lock my bike to it. It's nice to see vs someone telling you and you trying to visualize it. ;) If you live nearby, check this place out and know that they can order other items for you if they do not carry it. This is a nice, simple bike shop in downtown Hillsboro. We got a used road bike here about a year ago and it has served us well. After a hard crash, I brought the bike back for repairs. This is definitely the best place to get your bike fixed on the west side of Portland metro. They have lots of parts, they are knowledgeable and friendly. They don't overcharge. They will give you ideas about fixing your bike or sell you parts, if that's what you prefer. They also have lots of inexpensive bikes to sell. They are great to work with. read more

I came into the store with no expectations. It's a used bike shop so I wasn't sure if I would leave with a bike in hand. I didn't know what kind of bike I need exactly, but somewhere along the lines of a cycling bike and an everyday bike that I could use with a bike trainer. Mike, their sales associate, was very friendly and informative about which bike would work best for me. After getting fitted for my size and testing the bikes for a ride in their adjacent parking lot, I found the perfect one. After purchasing your bike, they tune it up for you and the turnaround time is around 4 days. Mike also got me fitted for a helmet and recommended that I get a smooth tired when I'm cycling indoors. Worst service ever! My two bikes were supposed to be ready by Friday afternoon, and they were not. I went on Sat. and the owner apparently had an accident and said he was not opening up the shop. I had a ride scheduled and asked to pay for my bikes - the answer was still no. On Sunday, the rest of the staff was friendly, the owner was still on his high horse. He asked me to get off my phone since he was running a business. I stated that I was just on hold with Comcast and had been for over an hour and could not hang up. (Not his business) He continued to be rude and I said I would never do business there again. He pointed to his face and said I have no human compasion because he was hurt. (Not True) I just don't have time to coddle owners that think they can treat customers bad just becuase they are the "business owner" So very much to learn little man. read more

I'm disabled and just bought a bike that was mostly assembled from the factory. But just to be safe I wanted to get it tuned and tested. So a friend referred me to this shop, and both Jared and Mike were very professional and a delight to be around. Jared tuned my bike (which was a complete disaster from the factory) and tested it thoroughly. He must have tweaked every screw, nut, and bolt on it! Then he took it for a test ride. I'm extremely happy with the service that I received, for a very reasonable price. I will be referring these guys to all my friends, and I'll definitely be bringing them more business from my family. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. They have only 3 paid employees and the rest are volunteers. Kudos on running this biking community. They have a decent collection. Most models are from 1960s and 1970s. But, the prices are still as high as from late 90s or 2000s. They do hold the bike for a couple of days off you need time to decide. They also sell cheap second hand accessories - bike pump, seat, bike locks. There has also been cases where stolen bikes have ended up at this place. But, they give it to you for free if you can prove that the bike was yours. Overall, a shop worth checking out this summer. read more

Amazing!! The chain on bike broke and I thought my ride was going to be completely de-railed. Thankfully Connor was able to remove the faulty link on the chain and put the shortened chain back on my bike so I could continue the ride with the rest of my group. In picking up my new bike after having it put together I noticed that the handlebars were crooked and loose. When asking Mike to fix it he got offended and kicked me out of the store. No customer should be treated in that way whatsoever. Once home I noticed the wheels would not turn freely, most likely it appears as the brakes are tightened up against the wheels and not adjusted, I would have detected this at the shop had I been allowed to test out the bike before be asked to leave. At this point I would like my money back so I can it in proper working order and with staff that will treat me as customer should be. read more

The short version is: I took a bike in that was fully functional when I left it and came back to a bike with chopped cables, non-functioning shifters, a seat raised 6 inches higher and a shredded front tire and that is no longer rideable. The details are: I took my '93 Specialized Epic there for a tune; particularly to see if the brifters (old school combo brakes/shifters) were still functional. The guy hooked it up to the maintenance rack and grabbed his can of spray lubricant and shot a few blasts into the cables and had the chain clicking down the sprockets in a minute (literally). So, we talked about the rest of the tune-up and price, etc and i left it with him. Flash forward about a week: I go back to check on it and there's different guy now who tells me he had to take the cables off to *really* get it lubed. ONLY NOW IT'S BROKE BEYOND REPAIR!!! He didn't disassemble the brifters to remove the cables tho. He roughly chopped them off at their insertion point into the shifters. So, he tells me *now* I need new brifters, and therefore new handlebar tape, new cables, new this, new that AND a new tire because he obviously (the seat was raised really high cuz he's a tall guy) took it out for a ride, apparently with the front tire deflated, because now what was a pinhole of air leaking from a bad tube turned into a totally shredded on the rim front tire! And he says what was about a hundred dollar estimated tune-up is now going to cost me 250 dollars!!! This is ludicrous! I brought in a stock, all original, fully functional road bike and came back to a dismembered unrideable disaster. I had talked to the guy (2nd guy. Tall guy, not the original) on the phone the night before (Thursday, same day of my return visit) and told him I'd be in Friday when they opened to get my bike and for him to do nothing_else_to_it. Of course he wasn't there when I came. Two other guys were but they had no idea of this situation, where the bike was and no note explaining any of it, or that I'd be picking the bike up. But the guy who finally found it on the wall rack in total disrepair (and he was looking at baffled in disbelief of it's condition) just gave it to me and charged me nothing and said *obviously* there was a huge lack of communication from them to me. Another company that has trouble replying to a price inquiry. I don't live in or near the city so it'd be a special trip to take my bike in for 3 simple repairs. I emailed them, I was kind of replied to. A nice lady tried to cc. a tech and ask how much it would cost for 3 simple tunes on my bike. It's been about 3-4 days. No reply. I guess they don't want business. I see it this way. If you reply to your potential customers, and have great PR. And if that customer shows up and pays you. If you do a great job. You might have a full time customer, who will then tell people. So. i'm telling people. Not sure how I can buy their services if they won't even return an email read more

I can't say enough good about this organization! The small but full service bike shop in downtown Hillsboro is only a part of the Washington County Bicycle Transportation Coalition's work. 2015 lauched two youth Adventure Bike Camps, the fall Adopt-a-Bike gives is a fundraiser that gives up to fifty kids a new/newer bike, helmet, lock and 2 hour class on bike safety. Adult commuter classes and youth classes are a high priority. I have found the people at the bike shop knowledgeable, and extremely helpful plus their prices reflect their non-profit status.
