Watch your paperwork closely!…read more Because I absolutely hate haggling in person, I tried contacting MotoSport Hillsboro ahead of time specifically to get the total out-the-door price in writing. My plan was simple: get the final numbers, walk into the shop, hand them a check, and leave. Instead, they turned it into a textbook fee-padding game. After submitting inquiries through their portal, my communications were ignored for days. When the salesperson, Brandon, finally texted me, he tried to tack on a completely bogus $499 "setup fee" on a used demo bike that was already assembled and sitting on the showroom floor. Under Oregon consumer disclosure rules, assembly and setup fees cannot be weaponized as surprise add-ons to artificially inflate an advertised price. When I called out the illegitimate setup fee and management finally sent over a formal purchase order, they pulled a classic shell game. The setup fee was gone, but they immediately slid in a $200 "document processing fee" that Brandon had completely omitted in our prior conversations. When I pointed out that this fee wasn't mentioned upfront, Rob told me he would only remove the $200 if I took the title paperwork down to the DMV and processed it myself. Why should a customer pay a separate, surprise fee just for a dealership employee to do the clerical job they are already paid to do? They might use lower base pricing online to lure you through the door, but it doesn't matter if they just pad the final contract with hidden back-office fees and give you an exhausting customer service experience. If you are a cash buyer expecting basic honesty, pricing transparency, and respect for your time, go elsewhere. I have attached screenshots of the text history below so you can see the truth for yourself. Watch your contract numbers closely or just make it easier on yourself and get your bike elsewhere. I certainly will!

Not too many places can you say you bought the bike from the owner of the business. Second, think of a throw back motorcycle shop from the 60's or 70's, this is the epitome of old school bike shops. Fred has a small business and stores his bikes in 3-4 storage units which are full of bike stuff, and where he keeps his inventory. Based on other reviews if you are expecting a Harley Davidson dealership experience, with mopped floors that have been painted, fancy countertops and awesome displays, you should just visit those showrooms. When you do and that experience is worth it to you, that is why you pay 20-30% more to buy used bikes from them. Nothing wrong with it, just understand that those shiny big buildings and large workforces cost money. Here was my experience. Fred and I came to terms and he sold me a CVO RoadGlide, and I love it. Fred held the bike for a week, I flew into town, and we had a handshake deal. The bike was exactly what Fred described, flawless. This was a no pressure sales experience and Fred helped me. Fred had a couple of other buyers contact him and he still held it for a week, no deposit, just a verbal agreement. Try that at your Harley dealership...tell them to hold a discounted bike for a week without a deposit and see what happens. You should probably wear a hidden camera when you do it, they will laugh you out of the building. Let's not be too picky about the hours - Fred responds to email, text messages and phone calls. He is a one man business - so please give Fred some space to have lunch, go to the bathroom, and run some errands. Best to make an appointment and be on time. Back in the 60's and 70's if you made an appointment by phone you kept it. That is the same Vibe here. I would buy another bike from Fred, but I also appreciated the lower price and nostalgic experience. Thanks Fred, I am a fan, Travis

RIP my friend. Josh is the son of Bill Ballard who ran Ironhorse out of his home garage in Forest Grove for eons. Bill was amazing. Did great work at very reasonable prices. I was very sad when he passed but he left this world doing what he loves.... on his bike heading to Sturgis. Farewell, Brother. Josh may not be the mechanic his Dad was but he does very good work. Very accommodating and his prices are similarly very reasonable. He has a couple of employees who also seem to be good with a wrench but the few times I've been there Josh is always the one doing the work on my bike. Over time I've come to trust Josh ad his level of skill so I'm pretty confident that he can handle anything I bring to him. It's always difficult when you lose someone you trust with your life... literally. I was obviously nervous about handing my bike over to someone new but so far it's worked out very well. Josh is young so hopefully he will outlive me and will be the last person working on my Harleys. If it's a choice between the dealership and going to Josh, that's an easy decision.

It's not as easy as that sounds; we are going from the stock Silver to a black engine and transmission.
