I work for the US Forest Service fighting forest fires. I camp all summons in a tent and wanted the best tent possible. I was told to go to REI supposedly because they stand behind their products. Oh was I wrong. I even bought their membership because I was told I could return my tent for any reason and even no reason whatsoever and get my $ back. The grommets ripped out of my tent and all of the stakes bent so easily when the wind picked up. All of my coworkers who bought their tents at walmart returned their tents and got brand new ones.I paid three times as much for my tent and was told all these promises.And when I went to return it, they said, no, you're effed. Screw off we won't take it back. I highly do not recommend.Do not listen to anyone there.And buy your stuff somewhere else.Horrible company.That's why they're closing all their stores. Order: Hiking boot Obōz Pros: I was able to find a boot that would support my ankle and didnt slip while hiking. I consider this an investment as it was a little pricey. Matt helped me out and new the right shoe to get me to try. Glad I was able to listen as it was a great suggestion. I have my 2nd EliptiGO bike. (Standing road bike). My first one was an 8 speed and the one I have now is an 11. This company has worked on BOTH my Go's (tires, tracks, gears, etc.). At first when I brought my first one in they did not not really know much about them (I believe I'm the only one in Keizer?) I have to say they have done an AMAZING job at figuring it out! They have been fixing them and now my newer one and quickly getting my tires and breaks fixed! If this wasn't the case with this group of employees I'd be driving up to Portland and back to get it fixed! Thank you! It was my first time coming into REI, i went in to buy shoes and the sales associate Nate from the shoe department was so so nice !! He helped me find the right shoes and even though he was quite busy with other customers, he still manage to find what people are looking for and was so kind!! The cashier lady in the other hand.... Abigail wasn't so nice. She asked if I was a member for REI, and I said no since of course it's my first time. She then went on to explain the benefits and I kindly declined. Although the membership is such a steal, I had to pay $30 on top of what I'm buying and at the moment right now I'm low on money, I get paid till next week and was only here to buy shoes for tomorrow's hike with my leftover money that I had!! When I kindly declined she continues to tell me again about the benefits. When I declined again her whole face dropped and bluntly said "okay" and ringed me out. Her whole demeanor changed and I honestly did not like that. I worked as a cashier and I know the struggles of trying to have people sign up for certain things, but it never leads me to being rude against them or changing my demeanor. I know for sure next time I'll sign up but at the moment I literally can't. read more

Found smores kits here that include 10 marshmallows, the cookies, skewers, and matches. The mallows are hand crafted and made from wholesome ingredients that you can pronounce which is rad! We couldn't decide between the vanilla bean marshmallows with chocolate chips inside and sugar cookies or the vanilla bean marshmallows with chocolate and peanut butter cups and chocolate cookies so we splurged on both! My first time in REI. Ever! On a scale of 1 to 10 my experience has been a 10+. Jacob in the hiking boots department was very knowledgeable, professional, extremely helpful and patient! And Richard at the checkout counter was professional, personable and Very helpful with additional information regarding REI and various perks and benefits that went along with a membership that essentially costs nothing when all is said and done.(I very rarely sign up for these things unless there is a tremendous benefit to me). Went into the store today. The man that greeted was great! The very tall slender woman in shoes wonderful and super helpful. But, the young girl (Emily) at the counter was extremely rude and you could tell she didn't want to be at her job today. She spoke over me when asking a question. I then tried to ask my question again, it was followed by a very rude and unprofessional reply. I received some phenomenal customer service when I went in a month ago. I needed help finding a good pair of hiking shoes, and I can't remember his name but the associate helping gave me with his input on the brands I was looking at and luckily they had what I wanted to look at in stock for me to try. Next I saw an osprey backpack in the garage sale area, but I wanted to make sure it would fit me. So a different sales associate helped me with backpack fitting. The pack was too big unfortunately, but the associate spent a bunch of time with me to help me narrow down exactly what I want for a good backpacking pack. Next at checkout, the woman was so friendly and showed me how to use a special feature on my new down jacket. Idk if I had a serotonin boost from the excitement for my upcoming trip, or what, but I was pleasantly surprised with the attention and service I received at this Keizer location. read more

I have been treated with the worst customer service ever to the point where my blood pressure for sure went up. I had left my bike with Chris to add the tire guards and returned an hour later after receiving a pleasant phone call that my bike was ready. Upon arrival I noticed the front guard on the bike was way too long to the point it almost touched the ground. I told Salesperson Kyle who had originally sold me the bike. Kyle went to the back and came back with Chris. While explaining to Chris the reason I was not happy with the guards he became very defensive with me and told me that this is the second time he was working on my bike and that's all he can do. I gave him an analogy that driving over my shoe it will hit the guard causing it to eventually fall off. He replied with, "How many times will you be driving over your foot". Chris' lack of professionalism, immaturity and the disrespect that I received as a customer was of something that no customer should ever experience. read more

Took my bike in to fix the chain, they ended up adding on a bunch of crap to make the sime chain fix cost 93 dollars. In the process they also contaminated both front and back brakes with oil. The bike wouldn't even ride after coming out of the shop. had to replace the back cassette on the bike before it would even work. would not recommend for any bike services, too many problems after taking my bike in. I also went in a few day later to buy new brake pads, employees we're not helpful and wanted me to bring the bike back in for them to "fix" it. read more

Bought our kayaks and paddles here and everyone that helped us was just fantastic. Super positive, super friendly, super knowledgeable. The only bump in the road was there was some confusion with validating our purchase since we'd purchased them online and picked them up in the store. Though this is a rather small REI store, the service department is the best! Have had 2 flats repaired on my belt drive, internally geared hybrid/commuter bike. Both times I have just popped in during my lunch fully expecting to have to leave my bike there and pick it up later but both times they have fixed it up right then and I made it back to work on time. Let me watch how they disengaged my gear cable and then the tricky part of reattaching it so I feel more comfortable attempting the operation myself next time, had them put in a self-repairing tube on the back tire so, hopefully, I won't need to test my memory of how it was done. read more

Umm.... Not sure how to rate this place. Staff was nice and helpful. So I had my eye on the rocker while in California. But I waited until I could use the 20% off coupon to get it and since I was in Oregon, which has no sales tax, I got in Oregon. So I asked if they had anymore in stock because I only saw the "floor sample" in front. They said there isn't such a thing as "floor sample" but went ahead and got one from the back. I was thrilled until I saw the scratches. I got it anyway because it's cheaper to get here than California. The point is, how do they store their items? How can the rocker be so scratched up? I do wish the rocker came in other colors though. read more

Beautiful store, layout is easy to find what you need, and the lighting is great. I went to the snowshoeing class last night. It was very thorough, the presenter spoke clearly, and it was very helpful if you've never gone snowshoeing before. I also love that they are having a snowshoeing evening Dec. 27th and you don't have to have snowshoes!! Rei will provide them and it's a great chance to get out there if you've never snowshoed before. I love most rei's but this one was all around great! The Pearl is so busy and cramped, the one at Bridgeport is smaller feeling/ not as spread out, and I love the clackamas one too( I hate that it's at a mall and is also very busy and crowded). read more

Wow..I am 64 years old..have bought plenty of shoes in my day..but today...the sales lady told me to put the shoes back on the shelf! I had taken about 5 pair off, to make it easier for her to see what I needed...she put her hands on her hips, and as she is looking at the shoes..she says..well..what have we here? What do you need? Explained what kinds of shoes I needed..she said..can you find the right place for those shoes? I was so shocked..I left..my last ever doing business there...shopping there had never been pleasant..but this was unbelievable! It was so sad, because she started out being really nice. l bought a bike in January 2019 had issues with tires was resolved after a week or so but my bigger concern is the recall on the bike do to stress cracks forming on the lefty fork but the tab on fork with that number was not in tacked when I bought bike asked the tech in store about checking into it for me well that was in april now june but no answers yet customer service seems to be back burner at this location after they have made sale guess I will contact cannon dale myself to get issue resolved sad sad sad read more

Worst customer service, I tried to return my snowboard, bindings, and boots that were brand new barely used and was promised at purchase a 1 year no questions asked return guarantee for the items I spent over $1,000 at that store and was told they would not return the product for money back. She then said I should just sell my brand new product on Craigslist. And then the manager told me that she would give me in store credit for the money. I will NEVER shop here again, I work in a sporting goods store and I will never send any customers there and never send anyone I know or am related to there. Absolute horrible customer service and as I use my in store credit to buy other stuff I was treated like shit by the cashier as I was purchasing over $900 of product from their store. Disappointing customer service at this store. I have been a member for @20 years and have always been impressed with REIs outstanding customer service at multiple locations on the West Coast. Here is a specific example from yesterday's visit (and I've had a similar experience other visits): multiple people were working and store slow-I had to track down someone for help in multiple departments, girl in shoe department went to check on something and never returned, guy at counter made several negative comments about unused Christmas returns I made and though I had receipts, he gave me a gift card without the option of cash. I called Keizer station store this morning for help, girl suggested I use REI website though I told her product wasn't listed, then she put me on hold to help someone else and I was disconnected. I actually called the Clackamas store who were very helpful and ordered the product to be shipped to me. They were surprised I wasn't able to take care of it at my local store. I was too p.s., though the lacking customer service seems to be the culture of this store, there are some knowledgeable and helpful staff read more
