    REI behind the Marina Boats
    David D.

Probably the nicest and best location you will find an REI. It's in one of the wealthiest sections of Los Angeles with a primarily single upscale demographic. It's right in the newly developed marina on the water, on a heavily traveled bike path that joins South Bay and Venice/Santa Monica, next to a Trader Joe's that is also on the water and across the street from an established upscale shopping center and down the block from the very popular Burton Chace Park. REI paid a fortune to lease this Class A commercial property but I believe that they will hit a "home run" with it. It's beautiful inside the store and surrounded by upscale restaurants with patios that overlook the marina and ocean. The warm weekends and summers are going to be crazy busy here--and while they are now offering free 2-hour parking in their lot shared with other businesses--they are going to find that entitled LA people are going to park there and walk to the park, marina, beach, and unload bikes for a bike ride taking up valuable customer spaces. They will probably have to have the Landlord implement some sort of validated parking control otherwise customers will not be able to patronize the store. Definitely check this REI store out--it's a major winner and since the 1980's REI has been one of my favorite "go to" stores I spend a lot of $$ at.

    ### 2023 review 34/100 ### Woooooooohooooooooo so excited to have REI finally close by and not have to make the trek to SaMo or South Bay. Looooong long time REI member (it's a 1-time $30 membership fee to join and you're set for lifetime!) -- if you apply for the REI MC $0 annual fee, in store anytime Sept. 8-10, you get a $30 REI GC handed to you + make a purchase within the next 90 days using you shiny new CC and you'll get $100 REI GC emailed (if valid email upon application) or mailed out to you. Outdoors folks are the best! Good vibes this morning @10am when the doors opened for lots of goodies: - first 300 ppl score an REI Nalgene - enter Grand Opening sweepstakes for a chance to win $500 REI GC - Verve coffee : promoting their instant coffee packets, that actually tasted good! - Donuts that disappeared SUPER fast. I got the *last* one that I shared 1/2 with the guy right behind me (he was happy to get 1/2 LOL) - check out the virtual experiences at ARC'TERYX sprinter parked in the lot - and lots more vendors will be on display later in the afternoon @1-5pm for products demos, etc. *** Parking info *** lot at the store is limited and has a 2-hr maximum. There are two additional lots nearby, Marina Parking Lot 4, across Mindanao Way ($8/weekday, $10/weekend day) and Parking at 4545 Admiralty Way ($7/day).

Today was the Official Grand Opening of REI in Marina Del Rey! If you come this weekend, bring your patience! Parking is limited and free for 2 hours, but if you don't mind valet, do it! $500 gift card raffle, free coffee from Verve and donuts from Bluestone, giveaways like unique water bottle, free snacks, and a very friendly staff bunch! There is a great opportunity to donate to the Friends of Ballona Wetlands and get a very cool mug branded REI and designed uniquely for the organization. I used to go to the REI in SM, so happy that there is another option on the westside for your outdoor needs. The value is in signing up for their lifetime membership which pays you back. Prices of items are reasonable for the quality. Refund policy of the store is very reasonable for most items. I've been a member for 3 years now and after every year, a % of what you buy goes into your account for future purchases.

REI has been and will always be the centerpiece of everything representing, supporting, celebrating, and protecting the outdoors. I had the opportunity to attend the soft opening of REI's 183rd store in Marina del Rey on Sept. 6th. It boasts an amazing array of outdoor gear from cycling to hiking and much in between! What's unique about this location is that it sits right on the coast with the entire back of the store overlooking the boast slips - and ideal spot for every sunset. The store also sits right on the bike path so if you need to stop for a quick tune up or flat tire repair, this is your spot. Parking - This will be a challenge, especially on weekends and for big sales so allow for plenty of time to find a spot. There is paid parking nearby. Don't be tempted to park at Ralph's since you rolling the dice on getting a ticket, or worse, getting towed. Big Grand Opening!! Sept 8-10th, 2023 - Swing by the store for raffles, free coffee and meet the reps from Arc'Teryx, Cotopaxi and many more.

I brought my service dog in the store and they told me to leave because my service dog didn't have a harness on her when in legal terms, the dog does not need to show proof of being a service, but I had her card and everything and they just asked me to leave with my service dog. What the store does is illegal and I will never be shopping at REI co-op again. I asked to speak to the manager. I was being berated for having a service dog, because they apparently used to accept dogs and now they don't they assumed I was lying. The only thing this place has for it is the beautiful view, but even that can't make me want to spend money. What the store does is downright illegal and is completely against every other what REI stands especially inclusivity. Not sure how much longer the store will say in business, but I will say it's not worth it. You can only try two shoes on. Can't try multiple shoes to see what would be better for hiking or running and my favorite part was I asked for high top hiking boots and they just kept telling me. Oh well we think the low tops will be better and after I tried on my two shoes they told me I couldn't try on any more shoes. Shoes . My advice to REI get your act together, teach your employees actually how to do their jobs, learn the laws. To say the Santa Monica location was better is an understatement and this place has no selection no help and no Care. Absolutely not what REI stands for and I will be shopping at other stores where I will actually be treated well and my money and laws are welcomed. The store is now just a waste of space .

Never thought athletic streetwear could look so sleek. Nike could learn a few things from this place. I believe this brand is from Australia, and what ever they're doing down under is on the up and up. Love the brand theme of #respectyouruniverse. Oh, can't forget a shout out to their super sleek backpacks. They're almost futuristic, but all kinds of practical. You have to check out their one-strap small backpack.... something even Boba Fett would sport in an instant (even has room for 2 lightsabers and a blaster too!). Prices are extremely reasonable, and you'll love the haute couture vibe. Super friendly staff too! Ask for Xavier (he has connects with the boss).
