KELLY Stathos Store Manager has personally ruined the REI Brand in this Reading store for me. I habe been a paid member/ customer for 21+ years and have spent over 30K Dollars on gear here i wish I could return it all now not just my failed Yakima Roof box. The Brand is dying and it's because of leadership like her. I went to the top and haven't heard back so the social media campaign is just starting. I will not be happy until REI is out of business now. I was treated so poorly by this women and then no response from up management a week later. Yakima has made it right by their life time warranty but no thanks to REI. The 1year customer 100% satisfaction guarantee is complete bull shit. They have blocked my online reviews on Social media and a attempt to stop for airing my grievances. In reaserching this i have learned so much more about the company that I want share here... In another review II saw Kelly also called the police on other customers as she did to me and the police were also apologizing for her behavior like it's a common thing. The police and shared a good chuckle at her and the stores expense. Once again. I remind you I spent 30k here over the course of 21+ years as member... it's not the first poor experience but this one was over the top. Not all employees here are awful but Kelly Stathos Store manager, has to go for this storevto even slightly have a chance to Manager, Please read the attached article and send complaints to CEO Mary Beth Laughton. https://www.thenewstribune.com/opinion/article298909435.html

Located in Greenwich Village this REI offers a nice array of bikes and accessories. Helmets, bike pumps, camping gear, travel accessories, etc., you name it - they've got it! Nice to find an outdoor store in the heart of the city. Plenty of sale and clearance items. also, and the city of many potholes, a bicycle repair center. Friendly staff available to assist with any question.

I really love REI for a combination of items, from hiking and camping gear, to my favorite tights "take your time"(unfortunately, they are discontinuing!). I will continue to purchase gear and outerwear for years to come. I only frequent the soho and CT stores, with soho definitely being a top choice. This store is massive, with 3 floors to get lost. Top floor has a bike repair station, adjacent the registers. Side note: today (3/12/23) there was a gas leak while I was in store, and just wanted to mention how well the store dealt with a very scary situation. They had the store cleared out in what felt like 60 seconds.

Love that this store is here and the selection but the lines are so long. Wish they would come up with a system for returns. It makes me not want to buy. Or I just really have to be sure I want it.

The HOKA walking sneakers I picked up today. If you have never tried a pair of HOKA what are you waiting for?

Love this location near broadway and Lafayette street in NYC. Great staff spacious store. And everything you need in outdoor gear under one roof. Love their selection of HOKA foot wear brand. Also make sure to check out the clerance sections lots of great deals every day.

REI is great but they removed the used gear section from this location which is very saddening.

    Ask the Community - REI

How do i contact REI to get top notch sports?

Tried reaching out multiple times but got no response. Disappointed with the support.

Do you do ski boot fittings/moldings for boots bought outside of REI?

How much does it cost to mount ski bindings?

For alpine bindings, the non-member price is $60 and the member price (10% off) is $54. If you buy the boots, bindings or skis with REI, the price is 50% off ($30 for non-members, $27 for members).

    Do they install bike gear?

REI shop employee here, again informally! Short answer, yes! Long answer, we install bicycle accessories (racks, kickstands, lights, bells, seats, etc.) for variable labor charges depending on the accessory. Usually we are able to do it on the spot,…

Now moving on to why 3 stars have been knocked off.... The customer service here is absolutely HORRENDOUS. I was looking at a pair of "creepers" that were absolutely beautiful and was about to ask if they have it in my size when I was rudely approached by a saleswoman (didn't catch her name, but she was in her 40's, I would say), who exclaimed "Um, that is our display!!! You can look at those shoes here!", as she waved her hand to a shelf. Her tone was so horrible that even her colleague, who looked a little younger, started giggling and smirking. I immediately walked out, took three steps down the block, only to think to myself to go back and let her know that I did not appreciate her statement, her tone or the way she handled herself in any means with an interested customer. When I did, she quickly put on a fake smile and passive-aggressively stated "Okay, have a nice day!", as she exaggerated a wave at me, with her friend trying to hide her laugh. Pretty sure I graduated high school years ago... It's unfortunate for the store to be represented like this because my friends and I have been coming here for a while because it's a nice shoe store that is right in our neighborhood. But after this incident, we will all be taking our business elsewhere...
