Very easy to get lost in the nature of things, staring at the river and canal. It's actually a pretty long hike if you do the red trail or even the orange one. It's not too cumbersome of a hike. Paths can get a bit narrow, so it's a bit annoying if you're walking and you encounter some bikers. Also wish there were a bit more signs, but that's probably intentional.

We concentrated on the wider and paved trails and eventually looped around 1(?) of the lakes. Many of the trails are shaded which was perfect for this mid 90s day, and the park was not crowded at Most people had masks down but pulled back up as others were nearby, we did likewise. I'm going to explore more of this overlooked gem, and I think a picnic on the lake when temps moderate. Towards the back of the one lake is a few well positioned benches( others scattered around the lake too) which we found perfect for quiet conversation and butterfly watching. I also look forward to returning in other seasons as was suggested by another review.

They also have plenty of gardens, with beautiful flowers, and in the summer season, they even have a butterfly house! The decorations are beautiful that they set up. It is definitely worth the trip.

There are some huge trees where you could easily sit and eat lunch. For kids, the playground is very nice. There's a sandlot with a ton of random toys just hanging around. And swings and slides--all the good stuff--in nice shape.

There is a portapotty (if you're into that sorta thing). It's a beautiful spot to unwind or let the kids release some energy. One thing I will mention is the garbage cans were overflowing and garbage bags were on the ground which was disappointing and my only complaint. It's a great place to bring lunch and eat under the gazebo by the lake. Lovely!

Mercer County Park is a complete park that offers something for just about everyone's needs…read more Whether you're looking to take the kids to the lake for a swim, go kayaking, let the dogs off leash in the fenced in dog park, ride your bike along paths both paved and natural, or just go walkabout to enjoy the largest park in the county. There are even a small number of campsites that can be reserved during certain times of the year. There are also large playing fields that host tournaments throughout the year for baseball, soccer, lacrosse, etc., and rowing regattas are hosted on the lake. At 3.9 square miles, Mercer County Park is a whopping 1.7% of the total acreage in all of Mercer County. The NE portion of the park is part that I like best, as it's also the part that gets the least amount of traffic, with the only folks you see being people walking the trails, birdwatchers and BMX bike riders. I wouldn't advise taking a gravel bike on the paths in this part of the park. I used to come here often with my bike, but now I'm also enjoying the trails on foot. If you're a road bike owner who's just looking for a short ride, the paved paths that run the length of the park, and the broad shoulder of the main road offer a good conditions for a road bike, but you'll need to look elsewhere for a longer, challenging ride. Also, I've yet to encounter the entitled dog owners who think that the leash regulations don't apply to them. I'm sure that they're out there, but perhaps they're not as common as they are at places like Mercer Meadows or Mountain Lakes--fingers crossed.

As always, we enjoy coming to this park. Spring is a great time to take advantage of the many…read morewalking paths and the expansive grounds. The playground is always a hit with the kids, and there are plenty of open grassy areas for frisbee, kicking a soccer ball, or just spreading out for a picnic. There's also a lot to do here: a splash park (in season), a golf course, bike paths, fishing, tennis, pickleball, and bocce. There are pavilions available for parties, along with grills and picnic tables for a BBQ. One of my favorite spots is the Rose Garden. It wasn't open on this visit (the sign noted an April 15 opening), but peak bloom is in June, and it's worth coming back for. Bottom line: A well-maintained park with something for everyone.
