Review of Dr. Charles Reing , Presbyopia correction function of intraocular lens Wrong lens implant, and a very poor follow up of presbyopia-correcting intraocular lenses (IOLs) that can restore a full range of vision without eyeglasses. "I've done thousands of them" is what I bought into; for thousands of nonrefundable dollars per eye. Wrong lenses were put in after a 5 plus hour wait on a hospital operating table. How does this happen? The Doctors ability to perform this operation and to identify the wrong lenses immediately were his responsibility. The circumstances were poor at best and the results a disaster. The follow up visit was equally poor. He was less than professional. He told me the office was very busy with multiple competing demands, and a personal family loss distracted him during my consultation. I've been going to Dr. Reing ever since I can remember (early childhood) and I always had a good experience. Dr. Reing is very professional and has a very calm yet knowledgeable way about him. A week ago he preformed LASIK surgery on me & everything went great! I was scheduled a post op appointment the next day.And even though I was seen by another doctor (Reing was off that day), right as I checked out to make my second post op appointment he called the office to see how I was doing. I had the responsibility of taking both of my parents for cataract surgery to two different doctors. The experiences were both unpleasant...long waits, multiple visits, impersonal treatment. I dreaded hearing that I needed the same surgery since I already dreaded the process. My experience with Dr. Reign and the Bergan-Passaic Eye Surgery Center where the surgery was performed was totally different. First, i was a patient of another doctor in the practice who told me to make an appointment with Dr. Reing. I was nervous because I didn't know Dr. Reing personally at this point but he informed me that he performs 200 surgeries a year and has been doing so for over 20 years. My friends who go to other ophthalmologist in Wayne were also sent to Dr. Reing for their cataract surgeries. That left me feeling reassured about his competence . I had two appointments for eye measurements before my surgery: one in Wayne and the other at the Eye Center. Neither required a wait. Dr. Reing's office has a professional, Trish, who just deals with surgical patients and keeps to her schedule. I left my visit with her with prescriptions, precise written directions, and a clear understanding of the lens choices I had. I also had my choice of surgery on a Monday morning or Thursday afternoon with the option of transportation being provided to the surgical center in FairLawn. At the Eye Center, I was also seen immediately. This was so different than waiting twice for 2 1/2 hours first with my mother and then with my father in West Orange The night before my surgery, I was informed of the exact time of my pick up and reminded of the general surgical rules. I was picked up on time by a wonderful driver brought to the Eye Center where an experienced staff prepped me for the surgery, sat with me until my eye drops did their job, and kept my spirits high preventing any first time nervousness. I was told what was happening every step of the way by Dr. Reing and the staff. The operation itself was quick and absolutely painless. I left wearing sunglasses. The next day, I saw Dr. Reing and then had another appointment 2 weeks later. At this appointment I was told that I could schedule my second surgery. This time I did not have to go for any measurements since the doctor and surgical center already had them...the second surgery was even easier. The end result for me was that I could see immediately without the glasses that I had worn for 30 years. I had no complications and had the most positive medical experience of my life. I am forever grateful to Dr. Reing, his wonderful staff in Wayne and the fantastic team at the Bergen-Passaic Eye Center. I highly recommend them and would feel confident going to Dr. Reing and the Center if I ever had any other eye issues. read more

Both my husband and I go to Dr. Reing. I have only needed normal annual checkups and have had nothing but excellent care from Dr. Reing. Dr. Reing correctly diagnosed my husband's eye disease after he had been to 2 or 3 other eye doctors, who did not. He performed corneal transplants at separate times on each of my husband's eyes. Both surgeries went smoothly and everything was explained to us prior to the date of surgery. Dr. Reing is a perfectionist. The only negatives either of us have are the length of time we are in the waiting room and that you have to pick up your eyeglass prescription from the optician. read more
