I visited this store to inquire about support to add in my automobile to minimize back pain after sitting in the driver's seat. I received exceptional customer service from Joaquin at this Walnut Creek location. We chatted about my issue and Joaquin inquired about my car's make and model. After learning the answer he told me that he believed he could assist in showing me how to adjust options in the driver seat area to make it more comfortable. We went to my car and he did just that--helped me adjust the driver seat options, lumbar, distance of seat to the pedals, steering column distance and height, etc. to make it more comfortable. Then he had me save them in all three memory positions, just in case someone erases one :-). Now after I get out of my car I don't experience that excruciating pain from having inadequate driver seat settings. I have had horribly swollen feet and ankles for 3 1/2 years. Especially now during covid, I am watching a lot of TV. I had a recliner but it didn't go back far enough for my feet to be elevated over my heart. So I thought I'd get a new recliner that did that. I tried Laz-y-Boy but they didn't have any. I remember when I bought that recliner I went to Relax the Back and they were very nice and helpful, but I decided I didn't want to pay the money then (I didn't have swollen feet then). But now it all made sense. Kevin was terrific and I got the chair in one day. I couldn't believe it but after one TV evening, my feet were not so swollen. After 5 days, they are not swollen at all. My regular, old skinny feet and ankles with bones and veins were back! It really changes everything for me as I am a senior and my mobility was at risk. We visited Relax The Back to buy two chairs, one for me and one for my daughter. I am retired and spend two to three hours a day in a chair in my study. My thirty-one-year-old daughter now works remotely for a high tech company in San Francisco. She typically spends ten to twelve hours a day in her chair. We were helped by Kevin who was extremely knowledgeable about their products. We sat in several chairs while Kevin discussed the features. I ended up with a very sleek hammock-style chair. It looks great in our relatively small study, and is extremely comfortable for the time that I spend in it. My daughter, on the other hand, requires a higher quality product that will support her comfortably throughout the day. Kevin guided her to a memory foam chair that will give her the support she needs throughout her long days. We spent about an hour with Kevin and enjoyed our time in the store. We are now both using, and loving, our chairs. read more

To anyone who is looking for a chair to relieve back pain, we can highly recommend the Relax the Back store in Walnut Creek. We particularly admire the way they stand behind their products and take care of problems. We bought an electric powered reclining zero gravity chair there about seven years ago, and have been very pleased with it. When it stopped reclining a few weeks ago, we called the store. John Depoe came to our home to look at it, obtained the needed parts, and installed them. He adamantly refused to take any payment for the time, work or parts, saying they believe their customers deserve this level of service, and they are happy to provide it. Part of the real measure of a business is how they handle post-purchase service. We bought two great Relax the Back chairs a couple of years ago, and Rob has made two trips to our home to make minor adjustments and repairs. Today it was just a bolt that worked its way loose, and last year, I called because my back needed a bit more padding added in one area of the chair. Rob made the appointment immediately and was out to service the chairs within a few days. These chairs are expensive, but worth the money in the long run, especially given the high degree of ongoing service that comes with them. read more

I want to report recent most positive experience with Relax the Back Chairs Walnut Creek (WC) . 1501-B N California Blvd, Walnut Creek, CA 94596, Phone number,(925) 935-5300. In summary, my wife has some physical issues with back/spine where we thought an executive chair from Relax the Back with its many adjustments and options might solve issues. We visited the WC store January 4 2017 and the manager James showed us one chair with many features and spent time fitting it to the wife with much time to explain the specific features.They have many choices to study. It seemed after about 45 minutes a possible solution so we ordered a color and material my wife wanted to fit her home deco. It was a 1 month delivery date. We were called as promised when the chair was ready for pickup and within the one month. We were once again shown how to adjust chair and took it home. At home, we called the store several times asking adjustment questions and James eagerly helped us. There was an excellent web video provided on adjustments also. We concluded after two weeks, the chair was just too high off the floor for my 'short' wife's and her physical issues. James even checked with factory about shorter chair spool options than we ordered to make it lower to floor for her and offered how we might try some other adjustments, including foot stools. After two weeks of phone calls and willing 'coaching' , we jointly with James concluded the chair just could not be made low enough to ground to solve her physical issues. We returned the chair within the 30 day window stated when purchasing the chair and James made a full timely refund. It was certainly not the chair which is high quality both in construction and adjustments but some physical issues that caused the return. The store managers attitude and helpfulness can not be understated. If you need a chair for back or other issues this is the store to start and you will likely end there. We told James what we were looking for and he understood. I want to call this a tippy chair because the seat and the back move together, just as though someone was tipping an ordinary chair over backwards (leg support swings out independently). The end result is far more comfortable than conventional recliners that fail to recognize that a person's back is directly connected to their legs. I have some lower back pain and my wife has severe sciatica. We've been shopping recliners for a while and found them all lacking in comfort and back support until we discovered these. We bought two of them, and while they weren't cheap, we expect to recoup the investment in reduced medical expenses. We've spent more on chiropractics, massage therapy, physical therapy, acupuncture, X-rays, MRIs, and orthopedic doctors over the last few years, and the long term possibility of needing surgery might very well be avoided by employing the amazing back support these chairs provide. Instead of trying to convince me of the merits of an expensive chair she suggested that I just try sitting on a ball which has worked wonderfully so far. I came to Relax the Back the other day to purchase a lumbar support for my car. I have back pain from an old injury that never quite healed right and my commute for my new job has made these issues flare up. their sales associate was so helpful, really taking the time to explain the products and help me find the right one. i was able to try them out in my car which really helped make my decision. i wasnt expecting to but i learned a lot about the back and about how important good posture is- makes me wonder if i couldve healed this injury when it first happened and how much of it was actually me just re-injuring by sitting wrong all of these years! my back is feeling so much better i am bringing my lumbar cushion with me everywhere now, everyone is making fun of me cause i am obsessed with it! but it is working and it will keep coming with me. i am going to bring my father here when he comes to town next month :) so thankful that i found this place! highly recommended to anyone with back issues and lets face it, who doesn't :) read more

Upon walking into the store, I was greeted by James, who was by far the best help I could have imagined. The reason for my visit was severe upper back and neck pain. I had been sleeping on a traditional pillow which had eventually messed up my neck due to me being a side-sleeper who likes to put my hand under the pillow. Doing that has increased upward motion on my neck which leaves me in great pain when I wake up. I highly recommend James to help anyone out who is in need of a suitable pillow or bed, which he will size for your specific body and anatomy. He knew so much about different products that he offered and could tell that what he was telling me was genuine and correct. I've been to other places in the past and of course all they cared about was the up-sale and the tag along of a mattress or anything else. The best thing about him was he made my experience totally personable and when I explained what I need he jumped right to the perfect product that he carried. I mentioned that I didn't need a mattress at the moment and he left it at that. He didn't try to hassle me or try to convince me that I needed a mattress, where other place have done in the past. Went to buy an office chair. Decided on the one which only cost $495 us dollars. The store was having a sale of the ones they had at the warehouse, so they only had three left and they were priced 100 dollars less.. They loaded the floor model into the car and sent me on my way. When I asked about a new one, i.e. not sat in by who knows how many people, they told me they couldn't get me one today, but I could come back tomorrow, or call first and they could actually deliver a new item to the store. I live in Berkeley, and can't get out to Walnut Creek during the week as I work.. Even for the sale price, the store should indicate that they are selling used furniture. read more

We bought a lift/massage chair with a 20 year warrenty and afte about 6 to 7 weeks the lower back massager quit - according to the repair guy it was still working because the motors were spening. The fact that you could not feel the vibratitions any longer was our problem, so the company is not going to do anything about it. With this kind of support, the chair is not worth $200 let alone the $2,000 we payed. read more
