We needed some wood and deck work done for a house in escrow. It was complicated and we needed it done fast, right, and yet at a fair price. A tall order! Not to mention we had numerous administrative headaches to hurdle because of the wacky escrow issues...but I digress. The point is, Derek has been PHENOMENAL. He couldn't be more flexible and accommodating to our ridiculous issues we had to deal with, and his work quality is outstanding. There is no cutting corners with him, everything is done thoroughly just the way I wanted it. He's a clear communicator and really honest. I spoke to Derek on the phone and he was very patient. I bought a larger fridge and had to extend the walls where the fridge would be. Derek and his assistant did clean work, re-textured the new wall, paint matched it, extended the tile in kitchen too. My wife and I were impressed with his work and would recommend him to anyone. My wife and I own a Rental property in San Diego (we live in Orange County)and recently had some plumbing leaks in the unit that caused Cabinet and wall damage. We called Derek at Reliable, (from Yelp) and he has proven to be just a great find. He was prompt, a very knowledgable contractor that understood about the need for timely and professional repairs. We had to house our tenants and he was on top of everything. He gave precise quotes that were understandable and unlike many that just say" repair wall", it was the step by step process we could expect. AND he delivered. When the Insurance inspector came out he showed what was damaged and the need for a larger repair with photos etc..His eye for construction showed how we could add some lighting for a very reasonable price and added alot to the kitchen. Kept us posted with Text and photos with progression as well. It is so refreshing to discover a Hard working, Craftsman with integrity. Derek and his crew did the bulk of our full remodel of a mid-70's Pacific Beach condo. Complete gut. Remove a popcorn ceiling. Redo two bathrooms, replumb, and refinish almost every piece of drywall. From demo to finish plastering he and his excellent subcontractors were our best experiences. The crews were on time, easy to work with, diligent with their clean-up, and flexible on changes. Derek furnished detailed bids, suggested ways to cut costs, adapted to the unexpected, and all this while balancing multiple jobs and some unexpected family challenges. We did not use Reliable for electrical but wish we had. Another company installed our kitchen but Derek's people prepped all the drywall, paint, and mechanical. His recommendations for tile, paint, and his plumbing sub were top notch. His plastering, rough-in, and prep was flawless. He's accessible electronically, adept at communicating via e-mail and file transfer, always gets back to us, and is good for his word on honoring bids and charging reasonable fees. Reliable Remodel does great work! I bought a fixer house that needed a ton of random work and Derek and his team were a huge help.
