Got an estimate n after they tore off all my shingles they then told me I now needed all new wood and it was now astronomical. So I instead of 21,000 as agreed after their physical inspection of my roof n attic it's now 40,000. The man that came out after all the shingles were off was then asking me so what do u want to do. I said well your company has already tore off all my shingles so even if I find another company I would still have to pay for what you have done already. I was basically flimflammed. This may be an unusual Five-Star Review but I think it's important to share honest, reliable, experienced professionals in the home maintenance arena. I had the gratifying experience of speaking with Todd Young, owner of Reliable Roofing, today and I was amazed at how kind, patient, and honest this man is. I had been told by the company that replaced the roof on my mobile home some four years ago, that I would need to have it resurfaced every two years at a cost of $250. When I called the company after two years, I was told the resurfacing was not necessary. I called again the following year and was given an estimate of $3,000, which astounded me. When I called and questioned the estimate, I was told that someone would get back to me. They never did and by then, I had lost faith in that company. I called Todd Young because some neighbors had attested to his expertise and reliability. When he heard my story, he actually went through the warranty that I had received from the original roofing company and he painstakingly explained why I did not need another resurfacing on the roof and the $3,000 estimate was just a scam. I have to share my experience working with Todd at Reliable Roofing. I rent the house I live in and was asked to get quotes for repairs by my landlord. I liked the way Todd took the time to explain the ins and outs of repairing a tile roof, and set expectations from the gate. Once we finally got the go ahead to start, Todd called me several times to let me know when he could start - he even called during a rainstorm checking to see how the leaks were and reassuring me that I was next on his schedule! I own four homes and use Yelp often. Reliable Roofing is by far the most professional company I have utilized by far. I called and was told by Todd that the were extremely busy and would do the best he could to assist me. He gave me general bid on the phone based on what I told him. He showed up the next day and quoted me $2,000 less with a suggestion I was unfamiliar with. I had a leak on a $3,400 sq. ft. concrete roof, he told that he could repair the leak but, suggested cutting wider valleys that were small and filled with pine needles, with re sealing all vents and reseat any tiles that had slidden down mor were cracked. I also had a sky light that was broken by a golfer. He quoted the lower price and added in sealing of an enclosed flat patio roof with a drain hole, plus replacing the sky light. He finished two other jobs and started my roof two days later. He showed on time and sent me pictures of every step and was finished in three days, right up to Thanksgiving. I do not live at the home and due to the incredible efficiency, I could not return to finishing paying for five days and he he was very gracious about this inconvenience. I'm updating my review from last fall because I (finally) got to see the finished product with my own eyes, a beautiful, sparkly white foam roof which adds both insulation and style to our mid-century modern home in Palm Springs! We had been unable to travel down from the Bay Area due to restrictions in place for Covid, but they were finally lifted and we are now here for Spring Break. More about Reliable Roofing: Todd Young, the owner, was efficient and responsive from start to finish. He got us on the schedule quickly and completed phase one of the installation--scraping and removal of the old gravel--in one day. Since he knew we were getting solar panels installed at the same time, he correctly advised us to have the solar company install the fittings at this stage in the product--BEFORE the final foaming--and he went above and beyond in communicating with the solar installers to help coordinate this. (If you wait till after the foam is sprayed on, the solar installers can damage the roof while they are installing the fittings.) After the solar fittings were installed, when it came to actually applying the foam, Reliable Roofing was careful to protect our pool and surrounding areas with plastic to prevent any foam from getting on them. I felt like Todd didn't only care about doing our roof, but he wanted the entire project--roof and solar--to be done well. He took pride in his work and didn't want the solar installers to ruin it by being careless. He made sure that we waited at least a week after the roof was foamed to have the solar installers come back and attach the panels to the fittings so that the roof would have time to fully set and harden. He even went so far as to tell the solar installers not to wear heavy work boots while working on the recently foamed roof and instead wear some light sneakers! Todd was also mindful of several other factors affecting our project: 1) we had a deadline of the end of the year to install the roof and solar in order to be able to claim our tax credit for 2020 2) the fact that we rent our place out on VRBO, so we would not be able to have work done when the place was rented out 3) the fact that in November and December there is the potential for rain, which could delay our project and jeopardize completion before 2020. This was a factor that my naive East Coast mindset--desert=no rain--did not take into consideration at all! Reliable Roofing accommodated our schedule and even moved our project forward a couple weeks when we had some clients cancel their stay due to Covid. Even though I was not on site when the work was being completed Todd kept me updated every step of the way with text messages of the progress and by sending photos of the finished product after completion. It can be nerve racking to have work done on a place when you are not living there and not able to see the work as it is being done, but with Todd's strong communication skills, I felt like I was in good hands. Have had a small leak that became huge in our mid-December storm. Left messages for a couple of other roofing companies with no response. But Todd got back to me 15 minutes after I reached out to him. Went to my house the same afternoon and called with a report the next day.
