Apologize for taking so long for this review but this bad service occurred in October 30, 2023. I just replaced my clutch with the Midas shop right next-door a few days before but changing gears continued to be a problem for my 1997 Mustang. I was told by the owner of this shop I needed a new transmission. I was not in a good mood because I just put down my dog the previous Saturday due to cancer. I was there bright and early an hour before they open on Monday morning and I left my car there. I walked over, which was a mile from my house to see if they started working on it each afternoon Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. I called every afternoon to find out what the status was and I had to listen to excuses from we lost a worker; we can't find the parts; the parts are taking too long to get here. I was obviously angry and went there Friday morning and they started working on it. The owner took two hours to replace the transmission. Seems to me they purposely made me wait a whole week for nothing. read more

I heard really good things about this place from my co-worker, and they happen to be very close to my house. When my minivan started making a grinding noise that I could feel through the accelerator pedal, I brought it here and prepared to be given some terrible news. All phone calls to Reliable were pleasant. They explained how to drop my van off after hours so I wouldn't have to leave work early. They got to look at it promptly the next day. And then they told me my transmission checked out fine, that the problem was in my engine. They recommended another shop to look at it, and when I was again in a position where I would have to leave work early to get there for my keys before they closed, they offered to drop my van off at the other shop. I didn't spend any money here, but that doesn't mean they didn't do any work. I am really impressed by their professionalism and helpfulness and if I should ever (hopefully not though) need any work done on my transmission, I know I will have it done here. read more

Jason at Reliable was great. Very friendly and upfront about my odd transmission issue. The trans was working but it was really stiff to move the shifter. He went thru it and assured me the transmission was fine but somewhere past the linkage was bent. It ended up being a broken neutral safety switch that was binding up. Very reasonable fix. read more

Jason at reliable transmission has been awesome. We've spoken a few times over the past month-ish and he has been respectful and patient the entire time. I took my car in to get my transmission serviced (my dealership said I'm in desperate need of one and they were going to charge me $200+, then I found this place which would charge less than half of that) and after a quick inspection, Jason gave me a call and let me know that my transmission fluid was basically brand new and wouldn't need a service for another 20k+ miles. He could have easily just gone ahead with the unnecessary service and I would be out however much money- which is seemingly what my dealership would have done- but instead he was honest with me and didn't charge me a dime, despite me unfortunately and unknowingly wasting his time. I will surely be coming back when my transmission does eventually need to be serviced. Thanks Jason! read more

I'm very disappointed in this company. After thier Aloha location could not build my transmission correctly, and destroyed my brand new engine that was built and blue printed by S&J engines in Vancouver, with less than 200 miles on the break in. This shop refused to look at, assist me in fixing the issue in my engine, and have also refused to reimburse me for the huge transmission oil spill in my drive way or even help me by towing my truck from their shop back to my house or another shop to inspect my brand new engine to figure out what what happend at their Aloha location. I have lost all faith and trust in this company. I have reportwd them to the Better Buisness Bureau as well as Triple A. DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE TO THIS SHOP! read more

Brought van in for sensor light, brake light and shifting transmission problem. Instead of plugging van into computer for diagnosis - they did transmission fluid change and work on transmission without contacting me with regards to cost and findings. After finally plugging in computer it was discovered to be a tire sensor in the rear tire. Now, I have to go to another shop to get repair done. read more

#1 for me was their honesty. They checked out my very old transmission (98 Subaru) due to a flashing A/T light on my dash and said my transmission was fine and showed me how to reset the flashing light myself--so I wouldn't have to pay them to do it! I would have given them 5 stars, but they weren't great at calling me back (I'm pretty sure that's because they were so busy!). read more

Scheduled their $89 trans service. On my way home i noticed the shifting seemed a little harder then before i dropped it off. After i got home i checked the fluid level on the dipstick and it was extremely low. I stopped by their aloha shop on my way out of town an hour later and they had to put in 4 quarts. It was 4 quarts low. I shudder to think what could have happened to my transmission had i driven for any length of time 4 qts low on fluid. I give two stars because everyone was friendly and they did fix the problem. That said i really expect a transmission shop not to have made such a gross error. read more

I'd give these folks 10 stars if I could. After taking my car to four different repair shops, (including Aamco and the dealer), and being completely bummed out by quoted repair estimates ranging from $2,300 to $6,000 plus to rebuild or completely replace my transmission, Reliable fixed my car for just $98. Yeah, $98. Everyone else had the car for a day and completely misdiagnosed the problem as it turned out to be a simple reset button. Reliable went above and beyond and I can't say enough good things about them. I shudder to think if I'd gone with someone else. read more

I've lived with a oil leak in the 2000 Silverado 5.3 w/ 210,000m. 3 leaks -- Main Seal. Oil Pan. Oil Filter Assembly. Finally, I decided to bite the bullet and get them fixed. After checking around at a couple places, I thought of Reliable Transmission since they drop trannies and axles all day long (you have to do that to get at the main seal and oil pan). Great service! Reasonable price. Taking it to the dealer would have cost at least another $700. They did a great job fixing all three issues. No more leaks!!! Competent mechanic. I'd recommend them to my friends. I had the worst experience with these people! I knew I was having transmission problems with my car so I took it in to see what Reliable could do for me. They told me they would charge me for the time to remove and diagnose the transmission. Not having a ton of money to throw at this project, I decided to take the car home and remove the transmission myself as this is a fairly easy task which I have done before and it would knock a few hundred bucks off the bill. I did that and took the transmission in for diagnosis. They took the entire thing apart and found one gear that was worn down as suspected. They then informed me it would be $1800 to repair! Really, one gear and a reassembly? I was quoted a new rebuilt transmission from transmission exchange downtown Portland for the same price with a warranty! Crazy.... So, I declined the repair and went to pick the transmission up to trade in at the other place. When I arrived for the pick up, some guy pushed my transmission out on a cart in a dilapidated cardboard box in about 100 pieces. It looked like it had been left to sit out in the rain as some of the parts were starting to rust. Good thing I was able to trade the old one in as it was, although I got a slightly less core credit on it than I otherwise would have. These people lure you in with a low price and leave you stuck with no other options but to pay their ridiculous prices!!! DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE! There are way better and more professional options. read more
