I was having trouble with potty training because I live in an apartment and immediately after a couple hints from a Karma trainer, Bella was fully potty trained! Karma managers are very responsive over email and extremely understanding. They have multiple locations around Austin and allowed me to make up a class at another location. I was assured that he'd know basic commands after the first two weeks. He likes to chase cars, and they said that they'd need to work with a shock collar to discourage that behavior, which is awful given that shock collars are heavily discouraged for non-problematic dogs and are outlawed in some countries. I still enrolled him in a 2-week course for basic commands, because I was a first time dog owner who wasn't aware of how to train dogs. Lara's canine solutions used a prong collar on a puppy who already was happy to follow directions and didn't have behavioral problems. She reassured me that prong collars would be okay becuase it doesn't hurt when she put it around my arm. However, after the training, I put the collar around my neck as a test to see how my dog would feel, and was shocked at how much it hurt my throat. While my dog was there, he developed aggression problems and anxiety, and developed problems of barking aggressively. Worst of all, after the two weeks, he didn't know any of the commands. I asked him to sit, and he didn't know what it was. He only did "guess work" out of fear when I tugged on the leash with the prong collar which was what the owner recommended. I had to train him all over again at Petco because he didn't know basic commands, and Petco did a much better job and raised his confidence back up. If I'd do it again, I'd find a center that encourages positive behavioral training rather than engaging in negative training with prong collars and shock collars. After every pickup I would ask how things went, and the feedback was always positive. I can only speculate as the explanations I've been given have been vague and contradictory at best. The issue seems to be that over the past year they have now hired very inexperienced staff that is afraid of large reactive dogs. Whether they are unwilling or unable to work through staff turnover--I've noticed on pickup a lot of the new staff now seems to be barely out of high school if that--and I wonder if anyone would consider them professional dog trainers, much less able to handle giant breeds that are reactive. They raised my price substantially without proactively telling me, from 82 per night, to 100 per day. I was initially told this was a general change in policy, because he occupies a training spot--which I already knew he occupies a training spot, because that's what I was paying for--the 4grand up front and 82 per night over the past nearly 4 years. The person who told me this was also a new person, so I asked again the next employee I interacted with, I believe was Austin who told me it was just because there were only certain employees that could handle him--not sure why that would cause a price increase but maybe it means they couldn't pay the new minimum wage high schoolers they've hired. Finally I ask upon pick up why the increase and was told it was because he damages things while he is there and that every time he stays they have to replace something. Again, news to me, aside from being told last year of a cord he chewed threw, I was never told he was so destructive--I have ZERO destruction issues at my house. I don't think I have ever spoken with the owner Lisa before, did not even know who she was. But after getting home from my last pickup, having just been told again for the x number of times how there were no issues with his stay--never insinuating that he was somehow in his way to being banned--I was informed via text at 8pm at night that we are no longer welcome for boarding. Whether this is a change in business model, or in hindsight a pattern of miscommunication (I say miscommunication but NO communication would likely be more appropriate) the owner decided my dog is not worth the headache. Ultimately in texts I was told they can't safely board him--odd after almost 4 years. I was also told the new staff members were unwilling to even show up for work if my dog was there. But then told it was because having me pay more money wasn't enough for repairs and overtime. I'd say that is probably nearer the truth, that the owner would rather make more money by using their limited spots on a dog that can be boarded by staff members who happen to be afraid of dogs.

Having adopted Ellie recently, she did not have the best manners, and really had not undergone any sort of training her whole life. We knew she could use the extra help with some professional training. She had poor leash skills, jumped up on us and strangers all the time, and chewed objects around the house. She has great leash walking skills, responds very well to "no", will sit in "place" (her bed) and stay, and is all around a better behaved dog. We even had follow up lessons with Jonathan to make sure we know how all the training commands and techniques worked and to help us stay on top of it. They taught us how to train our dog to sit , stay, wait ,place as well as learning how to go to his designated space for down and settle. I felt the instructors were excellent. I can't remember all their names, but Fab was excellent. when Rudy graduated from his class, he got a certificate and had a graduation picture taken. Right now I feel that I need to work on these basics before I enroll him in intermediate class, but when he's ready, I will definitely go back.

They worked really well with her, gave her time to settle in. When I would drop her off in the am we greeted in a nice friendly way by Scott. Robert took her every morning and walked her around. I mentioned she was leery of the techs going to vans in the parking lot and he got her out there to observe them. Kendall her main trainer was a positive force for her and she really likes her now. (This is big for this girl and her fears) She has become more focused and listens much better. Took her to pickup curbside on our way home from class, normally she backs away from the curbside employee or tries to go up front. Today she sat nicely in the car, watched them and didn't try to get away from. Big improvement. I look forward to watching her become even more confident with her group classes. Highly recommend!
