The woman at the counter was horribly rude and ungracious to me after I traveled over an hour to buy one of their remedies! After I made my purchase, I asked if I could go to the bathroom and she said "that's not a very nice thing for you to ask." She ultimately decided to let me use the toilet. But I was a PAYING CUSTOMER and that was how she spoke to me! It's not like I was a random person from the street asking to use the bathroom for free. How unbelievably snobby. There's no excuse for it. And the irony is that this is supposed to be a healing shop! Yet she was totally okay with the idea of her customer holding in pee, which is very unhealthy and could lead to a serious bladder infection! read more

This shop has been around the neighborhood for a while, and I recently stopped in--I am not sure why I had not, previously, because it is not as new-agey as I thought it might be -- it is really a "spa" and "healing" type of experience, with interesting soaps, bath fizzies and perfumes on offer, as well as gummies, chocolates and oils, and herbal apothecary items. I was greeted and the wise woman at the register was able to help me make an informed decision on my first purchase of CBD oil. I have been taking the 500 and 1000 mg strength since January, and I no longer need the pharmaceuticals I was taking for anxiety and depression. Other brands didn't benefit me at all. Do not buy CBD oil here. I'm really bummed to write this as I have been a big fan of this shop but I had a horrible experience today with Cheryl, the owner. Last weekend I made a special trip to this store to pick up CBD oil. I've tried two other brands before, both of which I've had zero issues with, but the brand that Remedies sells, Hemp Lucid, is awful. The water soluble version is super sweet and very viscous, very unlike what I've previously used. So I went in today to try and exchange it for a different version. Cheryl at first told me she doesn't do exchanges on open items which took me by surprise as that policy wasn't mentioned to me at check out or on my receipt (and there's no offer to try before you buy). I told her I really didn't like the product; she said it would be a $76 loss to her. Then she huffed and said she would take the loss and let me pick out another one. When I asked her which one would be better, she said (with her back turned to me, walking away from me) "there's the hemp one which you won't like and the coconut oil one." Her complete disrespect and disregard for my recurring business sickened me so I walked out. Now I am not only at a loss of $76 but another $75+ as I will purchase another CBD oil elsewhere. I've had really great service here from other employees in the past but today left a horrible taste in my mouth... much like Hemp Lucid. read more

I love this store and am so grateful to have it around. The staff is very knowledgeable, friendly and supportive. I came here on a Sunday, desperate to get herbs to stop the excessive uterine bleeding I was experiencing after the insertion of an IUD - which I know many women experience. I wanted to do whatever I could to stop it naturally without the use of hormones or prescription drugs. The owner (I think) suggested getting Shepherds Purse and Witch Hazel to take. All I can say is THANK YOU!!! It has been less than 2 days and the bleeding has stopped completely. They really know their stuff! What a great addition to Court Street. I pop in here frequently for the wonderful Dead Sea soaking salts, teas, herbs, and salves. Follow the waft of lavender through the door and you will see shelves of well-organized and labelled apothecary jars containing everything from cooking salts to bath salts, herbs and spices, bulk tea and herbs, charcoal soaps and more. I have been having terrible allergies this spring and went in to see what may be a natural remedy for them. The friendly, helpful woman behind the counter recommended I try nettles. They also carry pre-made allergy tinctures that contain nettles as the main ingredient, but I chose the bulk herb option to make into tea (which I have been cold-brewing in my fridge to make a delightful iced tea! ). i will never take Claritin or Benadryl again! It feels much better to take an herbal remedy that has existed for thousands of years (and support the small business selling it) than to support the big money chemical pharmaceutical companies. Great little shop tucked away on court street! I'm pretty sure they have something for whatever ails you. The owner is incredibly knowledgeable about herbs and spices and graciously answered all my questions. I picked up some chipotle sea salt and gunpowder green tea -- both were incredible! It's cool in here, the staff is friendly and they know their local herbs. They have a sm but nice chinese tonic herbal selection. It has a different style, it set up differently than the herbal shops I normally go to. Each has its own charm and personality, and I love them all. This may feel sterile in appearance, but dont be deterred away, the staff is super cool and the vibe- opposite of sterile. I love looking at their wall of herbs, you will need a ladder to get to them. Good prices, organic and they have random herbs in there that I never find anywhere but online. They dont have tonic samples and no skin care samples, well maybe they do I just didn't see any. There focus is just the herbs, it seems. Cool place. Def check it out. read more

Took a wonderful soap class this saturday given by Joann and loved it! Highly recommend! Joann is so dedicated, and makes the class really fun and interesting! Lots of choices in terms of essences, and fragrances along with herbs and other plants to put in the soaps. This place is the best and Joann is wonderful! read more

This is a beautiful place to go. I walked in and was greeted immediately by a woman (god, I wish I could remember names), who was super friendly. She asked if I was looking for something and I told her something for skin, hair and nails. She started showing me a few things I could throw together as teas. She really knew her stuff. I told her my son was next door for a minute but he had a cold he couldn't shake and she started saying oh, well have him take this blah blah blah....and he walked in. She remembered HIS name even though I didn't realize I said it...lol....and showed him the things. He openly agreed to them and we purchased them. My hair feels great and his cold is gone. The place is clean, organized and everything is right in front of you not behind a counter. The staff is friendly so you could accept help or decline without attitude and browse. Lots of neat potions. I saw some for LOVE. Slip that into his drink..lol. Anyway, when eating on Court Street (tons of great places for food) walk off your meal right to this place and enjoy.
