I've known DJ Taiga (Simon) for many years and knew he was a successful club DJ that was venturing into weddings. I was skeptical at first because I knew DJing clubs and DJing weddings were two different animals. But boy was I wrong... my girlfriend at the time (now wife!) and I went to New York for a wedding and the Remixologists were there to guide us thru the night and it was absolutely fantastic (It had to be one of the best weddings I have gone to) We have gone to a lot of weddings and while the music was ok. The DJs we have been exposed to were usually really cheesy, playing music off their iPod or a combination of the two. The Remixologists on the other hand are very different, they gave the wedding a flow and it told a story... A beginning, middle and end with their music (with no pauses might I add!) While we tried to find something similar in the Dallas area, we couldn't find anything like The Remixologists. So we asked Simon if he would DJ/emcee our special night since he was already coming to the wedding with his wife... which he said yes with no hesitation! Even tho we live about 1,500 miles away from each other. Simon made this so easy; he helped us with our wedding song lists and with finding a local Dallas sound/light vendor to supply the sound equipment for the night. He worked with our venue via email to figure out deliveries and equipment setup and he was quick to respond to any of our questions or concerns via phone or email. I met with Simon in person on the day before the wedding day and went over the pronunciation of the wedding party/parents and after that he had everything else handled and he told me to not worry about him or the music but on my wedding vows. When the day came, everything came off without a hitch. Simon emceed the night superbly and he is a true pro at his "Wedding DJ" craft. Leading up to the wedding, he was really easy to work with, responsive and organized. We provided input on songs for the ceremony, first dance, etc and music genres we liked and didn't like for dancing. DJ Colin took it from there, putting together music that we and our guests loved and kept the dance floor rocking! My husband and I wanted to do a first song instead of a first dance and Simon took on with expert skill, the task of mashing up instrumental versions of our two favorite songs for us to sing along to. The Remixologists were our wedding DJs -- and they were downright amazing! From the get-go, our communications with them were really wonderful. They helped us zero in on the type of wedding mix we were looking for, but at the same time gave us all the flexibility in the world to customize it however we'd like. And no musical genre or era is off limits for these guys -- they can help your guests get down with anything. Oh, and did I mention they helped pipe in sound through wireless speakers for our cocktail hour in a different room? But really, the BEST part about the Remixologists (and I really didn't appreciate this fact until I started paying attention to DJs at other weddings) is that they are extremely experienced *WEDDING* DJs. They know what brides and grooms are looking for, and this really showed during their preparation and execution. Leading up to the wedding, they'll go over your exact wedding day schedule with you, make sure you have all the songs you want, understand how to pronounce the wedding party's names, etc, etc. And despite their involvement in the process, they managed to stay practically invisible during the wedding -- which is a very good thing. No tacky "yo yo everyone, this is DJ So-and-So spinnin' tunes for you tonight" announcements to ruin the evening. I highly recommend these guys without hesitation. read more

My wife and I couldn't be more happy with DJ Taiga (Simon) at the Remixologists, who provided the music for our wedding reception at the Desmond Tutu Center in Chelsea. Everyone told us it was the best wedding they'd ever attended. It seemed like no one left the dance floor the entire night! The pre-wedding planning process was pretty low key, but effective. I wanted a dance party at my wedding and needed more than just a Master of Ceremonies...I found the remixologists website and listened to some of there mixes and I was sold. Simon was great to set everything up and DJ LGit showed up looking fly and wow did he keep the tunes going. I've been to a ton of weddings and never seen the dancefloor packed the whole time. DJ Luke was an amazing DJ for our September wedding at Tim McLoone's Supper Club in Asbury Park, NJ! He was not only so professional in getting there on time and handling all of the technical setups (our venue had a built-in DJ booth that he coordinated with the venue about directly), but was also personable and did a great job with the order of our wedding. EVERYONE loved his music choices and he had the dance floor filled until the end of the night. People were even requesting more songs after the night had ended (in which we told them to head to a local bar instead, so Luke could go home!). Simon is awesome! The decision to hire Simon for our August wedding was easy. After we met with him, we pretty much knew we wanted to hire him. We had really good chemistry from the very start which was very important to us when looking for vendors. Simon was very professional, personable, friendly and easy going and took a lot of time to get to know us and our musical tastes. It was like talking to a friend. As most wedding planning goes, my husband and I were very busy throughout the process but Simon was very good at keeping us on track with the schedule for making musical selections and playlists. He even gave us a general reception schedule listing out all of the key events during the day so we had an idea of what to expect. He was also really experienced and skilled in helping us tailor songs to fit within our needs and visions. We had a lot of song changes and questions during the process and Simon was very helpful in making recommendations to us and understanding exactly what we wanted. Our families are Chinese and most of our relatives only speak Cantonese. Because of this, a big thing for us was to say all of the bridal party names in Chinese as we were entering the reception hall. Simon is also Chinese but he only spoke Mandarin but he was more than happy to learn all the names and announce them at the reception. That was really special to us. The music for the ceremony went off without a hitch and the music for reception was exactly what we wanted. My husband and I danced all night. We had such a memorable time. The Remixologists were a highlight of our wedding. We had Simon as our DJ, who was very responsive and helpful both before and during the wedding. We had seen him in action before at our weddings and knew he was exactly who we wanted. DJ Simon Taiga - what can I say? If anyone deserves a glowing review and recommendation, it is he. His service at our wedding was impeccable in every respect. He was professional, courteous and accomodating in programming; gifted and talented on the turntable/ sound system and mic; and he even "engineered" a song that was sung at our ceremony to fit our scheduling. It bears mentioning, the Remixologists' "Basecamp planning website" was both easy to use and a good practical way to organize and communicate your musical needs with him. Usually you can find at least one thing wrong with anyone. I can't with Simon. At our wedding, no awkward pauses or silences, no mispronounced names, no equipment malfunctions, no missed steps and he was always on cue. The music was incredible. He gave us smooth and on-time transitions from one song to the next. He played all the songs we wanted to hear, the sound system was crystal clear and it was neither too loud, nor too soft. He really helped make our reception perfect. If you ask yourself what things are most important to you at your event, I promise you he will exceed all of your expectations. Simon, AKA DJ Taiga, was out of this world!!! He brought the house down with his killer remixes and had everyone on their feet! Initially, we weren't sure if our crowd would be up for a solid few hours of dancing. That worry quickly flew out the window as the dance floor was packed for the entire evening with couples of all ages. There was an audible "awww" when last call was announced, as no one wanted the party to end. Many of our friends have remarked that they haven't seen their significant other ever dance that much! It's natural to set high expectation when you heard about all the positive feedback across the major wedding websites, but still I have to say DJ Ben has done a fantastic job. Obviously he's got talent as a musician and his ability to hold and control the entire pace and effective communication during the reception left all our guests deep impression. As an Asian grown up in mainland China, I was slightly concerned about the discrepancy as to culture and musical taste, however Ben rocked in every aspect that he was flexible to plug in popular Chinese songs of our age (everyone liked it) and even read out the names of the bridal party as a native full of passion. I would strongly recommend Remixologists as MC/DJ especially for mid-size Asian wedding like ours. Just a couple of months ago, my now wife and I were stressed, excited, and were in the process of planning a 585 person wedding... (koreans, they tend to have a lot of friends).. and now that we are on the other side of it, I would like to offer an honest review for those of you in the same spot and looking to make your wedding day perfect. I'll lay it out simply: 1) Organized- DJ Taiga was organized and knew all the elements of the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. Prior to the wedding, he will google chat/skype/meet in person with you and run through the program. There may be some things that you forgot and that he has or vice versa, and he so amazingly flexible to add items to the program that you desire. Everything is planned out way in advance and there is no question of what is going to happen on the day of. As a mixer myself, Simon brings the absolute best equipment and the sound quality is absolutely superb. Due to such a large wedding, Simon lugged two enormous sound systems so that he could seamlessly transfer from the ceremony to the reception without any delay. This man is organized and his communication with his clients is second to none. When you are freaking out the couple of weeks before, good communication is truly a calming force in the chaos that is wedding preparation. 2) Professionalism- I'm not sure if there is a fine line between hype man and professional, but DJ Taiga walks this line perfectly. With a bunch of old grouchy stoic Asian men and women at our wedding, Simon was able to get them laughing, clapping but at the same time keep it classy. He understands the wide variety of cultures and ages that gather at a wedding, and he is able to cater to each generation in a very unique way. No one felt left out or uncomfortable. 3) Flexibility- During our meeting, Simon just asked us to name a few songs that we like, and that he would take care of the rest. He did not ask for a list of 100-200 songs... I was skeptical at first, but DJ Taiga has such a WIDE array of musical repertoire. The craziest part of the wedding was the dancing part... there were so many different generations who wanted to dance to their own familiar music... you multiply that by 580 people, and you get a potential disaster in the making. DJ Taiga handled the on the fly changes, the delay in the dinner, the chaos with not being enough seats with not just class, but he was able to navigate and fill the seams so there were no issues with transition or songs not being played enough. One of the biggest concerns when you plan a party is are people going to dance? Are they going to enjoy? There was no tacky "cmon guys, lets get on the dance floor, let me hear you scream comments." The music, the emceeing, just moved people to dance. People who I have known for years who HATE dancing were out on the floor dancing with people they have never met before. It truly was an amazing feeling as the groom. Concluding thoughts- DJ Taiga doesn't just play music... an iPod and speakers can do that. He makes your wedding an experience you will never forget. He facilitates interaction, dancing, laughter and magnifies an already special day. Do yourself a favor and contact the Remixologists... it'll make planning easier and you'll look back two months from your wedding and say it was the second best decision you made... after deciding to marry your wife!
