I've been coming to Removery for 7 months now, I've completed 4 sessions as they take appointments 6 weeks apart from each other, and I am satisfied with the removal process and the removal associates. That being said, when I signed up, I purchased their smallest package for a very small tattoo for $1500. Since my purchase, they have had multiple 50% off sales, so I definitely feel that I got a bad deal and would advise anyone to wait for their sales to make a purchase. I've also looked into other places that are not as expensive, although I can't comment on the quality of their associates or removal process. I'm writing a review prematurely to the finish of my tattoo because I have been told every time I come in to write a review, and I don't prefer to write reviews before the job is done but I know they will ask me again at my upcoming appointment. I would prefer not to be reminded of writing a review every time I come in, as I do write reviews regularly and I will update the public when I feel it is necessary. I would suggest to the business owner that they refrain from pressuring customers into writing reviews at every visit. read more

I entered into an agreement with Removery (then Finery) to have a text tattoo, ineptly applied at Boston Tattoo Company, removed. For several sessions, I was seen by Danelle, a top-notch associate. As soon as she departed the business, my agreement was reneged upon--out of the blue, and via text, while I was en route to a previously scheduled Removery appointment. I was left with a blotchy, partially faded--and, quite frankly, worse--version of what previously existed. To Removery, in response to your reply: Boston Tattoo Company incompetently administered a text tattoo in October 2019. I inquired multiple times about a corrective touch-up; the artist never replied. I finally received a response from the owner, who said my only remedy was laser removal. I never asked for this and never even considered it as an option. I was told my tattoo would be removed. There was never an arrangement, as you maintain, to merely lighten the tattoo and return to Boston Tattoo Company for a cover-up. In fact, your former associate Danelle was performing laser removal on my tattoo every six weeks with the stated intention of removing the tattoo in its entirety. I never would have engaged in this process if its aim was to simply lighten the tattoo. I resent the rudeness of your response; however, it is consistent with the rudeness of your abrupt dissolution of my agreement--again, via text the day of my prearranged appointment, while en route to your facility from out of town. I was treated with discourtesy, unprofessionalism, and dishonesty--a cautionary tale for anyone considering Removery, as well as Boston Tattoo Company. I began working with Tataway to remove my tattoo a few years ago. While I was receiving treatment, I never thought anything was amiss. I mean, I am not an expert in the art of laser treatment. I used to leave the office with a slight red tint over my tattoo, but the tattoo only faded very slightly after a long series of sessions. I didn't know what to expect so, as far as I knew, that was the way it worked. After moving to California, I realized there is a dramatic difference between this company and the larger enterprises out here. I am now getting my tattoo removed from a large company with many offices throughout the country. Everything is different (like they guarantee your tattoo will be removed in a specified number of visits - otherwise, future visits are free), but I think the most noticeable difference is my tattoo's reaction to the laser. It is bright red and it is clear that my tattoo is reacting to the laser. I don't know a ton about this subject, but I suspect the laser was set to a very low level. It makes sense because that would guarantee multiple return trips and more money each time. read more

I can't believe no one has reviewed Tataway yet. What can I say, I love this place. Carmen and the ladies of Tataway are fantastic. I waited for years to remove a tattoo that I got 20 years ago on my shoulder. I could never afford it. Tataway makes removal affordable and easy. They are located right in South Station so it is easy to get there via public transportation. She has an online scheduling system that sends you confirmations and reminders. They are very accommodating and make you feel welcome. Its not completely pain free, but they do their best to make sure you are comfortable. Making the decision to get rid of one of my tattoos was a tough one, and writing this review is pretty personal, but I really think it's important for people to know a great resource to go to when making this decision. Carmen at Tataway is phenomenal. She explains everything in full detail and really makes you feel as comfortable as you can be (knowing the pain to come). She was very honest with me: the first round of r20 hurts pretty bad, but every round after is better. She was definitely right, but I knew I was in good hands. She was super quick with the laser, which was so great! She also applied a topical anesthetic cream and used a powerful machine that made my skin super cold (thus more comfortable) during the laser. I had my first tattoo removal session on Friday and was very nervous, of course. I've been here a few weeks back for the consult and the facility was very nice & Maia, the woman that met with me, was very sweet and helpful. She explained everything I need to know, answering each and every one of my questions. The day of the appointment, I was very anxious and scared because everyone kept on making me overthink how badly it would hurt. Maia calmed me down and told me it's mostly in my head. She didn't tell me it was NOT going to hurt but she didn't add to my stress either. She kept it very simple and explained what she was going to do. It was not as bad as I thought it would be. Pain factor between 1-10, it was probably a 4. It was very quick and definitely not as painful as others made me think it would be. Stay away. Went here for a tattoo removal. This was my fourth session, but first here. So I had some experience with what I was getting myself into. Ive since gone to another place. I was interested in the picosure treatment. I met with a young lady, that explained to me how great the machine is and the pricing. I go in for my session. And its like the machine was shooting blanks. The tech told me she didnt understand why I wasn't getting a stronger response to the laser, and that maybe a qswitch laser would work better...she admitted it wasn't doing anything. I was basically charged $600+ for something that they admit did nothing. There was no fading. I was healed in about a day, when it would normally take 2 or 3 weeks to heal from a tattoo removal session. Total scam. Go visit Rob at dissapearing inc instead. This is how it should be. A cool, relaxed place with laid back people that will treat you right. Seriously, I just finished up my fifth session at Tataway and have had a great experience every time. Somehow the staff manages to provide very professional service while being chill. Maia has taken care of me from the start and she is great. Not only is she knowledgeable about the zapping, but she gets her bonus points by being so helpful when it comes to describing the healing process, lancing (ugh), and keeping your mind off the pain while you are getting lasered. I think the price is very fair for the service they provide and they will lock you in at the price you start with. My first (and hopefully only) tattoo removal (I have now completed 4 sessions). What I have really appreciated is that, at no point, was I 'hard sold'. In my first session, for which I'd purchased a groupon, they immediately told me I'd paid for a larger size than necessary for my tattoo. They then offered me a better deal when in fact I had no idea and they could have gotten away with it. They talked me through everything beforehand, and were actively not pushy about the next appointment. After the session (which hurts a bit, obviously), they were totally comfortable to tell I didn't have to set up the follow-up right then, and that I could see the results then decide. I went for it anyway and have kept going back. After four sessions the tattoo is very well faded and I look forward to it being completely gone after two more! Great place! read more

I've been coming here for close to 8 months now and have had 6 treatments. First one was on my neck(left side) and I was able to get a cover up tattoo after ONE treatment and the pain was a little bad, but not terrible. I had Nova and she was very kind and quick. Second session and third were on my left forearm(The top then underneath) it has faded a ton. It still even fades a little each day. I still need at least 2 more treatments, but one got me 1/3 of the way. I had Maya the second time, who was very kind and entertaining. She made feel very welcome and comfortable! The third time I had Chelsea and she is just the sweetest person ever! The fourth and fifth was on my shoulder blade through the top of my arm and damn it hurts like hell... but again Chelsea was quick and very attentive. It has been about 5 weeks and the piece is almost gone! One part was went over twice and it's just unbelievable! I have an appointment for a cover up piece at the end of the month. And the final was on my other shoulder blade through the top of my left arm. It's been 2 weeks and it's melting away day by day. i was quoted A price at my consultation and then booked my first appt. upon arrival, I was told the prices had changed and that they would not be charging me over 130 dollars extra each session. They said they would only honor the price they quoted me for my first session and that everything after that would be the new price. Went here when I lived in Boston, and I must say this place is great! Wonderful staff, great atmosphere and VERY professional. Had bad experiences with MD's performing tattoo removal, i.e. spent huge amounts of money and time, and saw NO difference (even though I was repeatedly told that I will see a difference after the next session). After ONE session at tataway, I saw the fading of my tattoo, hence why I didn't need to look anywhere else. Place should be called: "Scars by Carmen" not Tataway. I was their customer few years ago and now I am left badly scarred from inappropriate treatment. Like they say, but in a literal, physical way: "I'm scarred for life". I wouldn't write this review if it wasn't for yet another e-mail I just received. Please, please, please - I asked you to remove me from your mailing list many times and I was nice about it. Why do you keep tormenting me and bringing back bad memories?! DON'T go see Carmen. She doesn't know what she's doing. I went to a Harvard educated dermatologist and she was horrified with the scarring and the way I described the whole process of tattoo removal by Carmen. I've been visiting "REAL" tattoo removal specialist now, and she's been documenting my scars left by Carmen at Tataway in Boston. (I'll ask my dermatologist to send me photos of the scars left by Carmen and post them here for all to see). I've moved out of state and keep getting their e-mails and LinkedIn requests even though I asked them to stop multiple times. Please do yourself a favor and spend more money on a real professional, maybe someone like dermatologist. Now I'll have to go through another treatment, scar removal but after I get that old tattoo removed which Carmen didn't manage to do in multiple treatments. What she managed to do is leave scars. I can't believe it's taken me this long to review Tataway in Boston. There are several parameters I would like to comment on: Availability of appointments and location - I never ever have issues booking appointments.There have been several instances where I've had to cancel/change my appointment at the last minute and Carmen and her ladies have always been above and beyond accommodating - this is a huge help! The tattoo removal process is painful, and their flexibility has helped me fit the once-a-month treatment into my busy life, especially since I drive two and a half hours each way to get to the location. My absolute only critique of Tataway Boston - which is nothing that can be helped, really - is the absolutely ridiculous cost of parking in Boston. Customers who have to drive in for their appointments - be prepared to spend $16-$30 (!!!!) just to park for your appointment, as street parking has recently become even less available. However, the staff at Tataway always make the appointment as speedy as they possibly can (once I was in an out in literally 20 minutes) so that definitely helps! Customer service - You can infer from above that their customer service is stellar - but I felt the need to emphasize how amazing they've been! My appointments are usually on Mondays, but if I have to cancel/reschedule it is never anxiety inducing. Carmen is always available by text message and is so gosh darned friendly and accommodating. A ten-minute text conversation results in a re-booked appointment, an immediate re-schedule notification sent to my email, and little to no worries! I wish doctor's offices functioned this way... As I noted above, the removal process is painful. Maybe I'm a wimp, but I really just hate getting it done. In spite of that (and the parking issue after 2.5 hours of driving) I still walk away feeling relieved and happy - because I'm always greeted with smiling, happy faces. Carmen and her team (especially, I have to call her out - Chelsea) seem extraordinarily tuned in to the extreme emotion we all feel when getting our tattoo removed - we regret the tattoo, and getting it removed is intensely painful - literally adding salt to our wounds. Their good humor alleviates the stress, and I can't emphasize enough the difference that makes. Tat removal process/success - I have had six treatments with the Picosure laser so far and I am enormously pleased. There are times that I am dismayed because I had (unrealistically) hoped that six treatments would do the job - but all I have to do is look at what the tattoo looked like before I started and it's hardly recognizable! It went from a bright, obnoxious large blue flower to something that looks a little more discernible than a bruise. Keeping that in perspective makes me realize how speedy and successful this process is. This thing was supposed to last on my skin forever, after all! I will keep going through with the treatments until it is completely removed. I encourage Carmen to post the progress of my six treatments as a testament to its success - it was quite a dark, colorful tattoo! Overall, I am overwhelmed by how pleasant this process has been considering how traumatic it is to get a piece of yourself removed. I can't recommend them enough. read more

I started going to Tattaway in February. I did a lot of research before I made an appointment but after reading the reviews and looking at their website I had a good feeling about this place. From the second I walked in the door I felt welcomed by everyone at Tattaway. Chelsea took her time in explaining the process to me, the pricing options, and the different lasers available. I went with the Picosure laser, it is more expensive but SO worth it. I just finished my fifth session and I can't believe the results, my tattoo is faded and starting to dissapear. My tattoo has a lot of pink and yellow in it, which is usually impossible to fade but its working! Now that I am almost done with the process, I am so glad I did it. I did my research and figured Tataway was my best bet, and I was more than correct in my decision. They are very caring, always on time, electronically up to date and fantastic. They go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable, and they follow up with you after your appointment to make sure everything is going smoothly. The pain is about the same as getting a tattoo so if the pain is something you're worried about it's not something that you haven't already been through before. Went for 1 appointment (bought the groupon) after going for many at a place that closed and was relocating. I did like the laser and the icing procedure which was different than what i was getting at the other location. Chelsea was very nice as well. However, it cost over $100 more per treatment than I was paying. I was very interested in seeing if they could lower the price even slightly so that I could afford it but no one returned my emails or calls. I even had an on the phone consultation booked and no one called me so I ended up buying my affordable package at another location that has very similar lasers and results.
