I would definitely recommend Laser Skin Center! I have thick, dark hair and have always struggled with razor burns and stubble. Although the treatments haven't gotten rid of 100% of my unwanted hair, they've drastically reduced it and made what little shaving I still have to do so much easier. Definitely worth the money! She is always so kind and understanding, from my very first appointment with her to my last. She made something foreign and more than a little awkward much better through her relaxing bedside manner, kindness, and compassion. For someone who was quite nervous about the pain and being in such a state of undress with a stranger, Bri made me feel totally comfortable. And that's just her attitude! She also has such a noteworthy commitment to quality, thoroughness, and the best results she can get you. She is very meticulous in her approach, and is sure to hit all areas as best she can. Additionally, Cindy (who manages, well everything) is so nice! She always remembers my name, and is so friendly when booking appointments. I will admit there was a mix up or two, but Cindy always got it back on track immediately and worked with me to make sure everything worked for my schedule. She makes everything behind the scenes run super smoothly, so I am in and out in the most timely, efficient manner. In terms of the results, I am happy thus far. I've had 5 sessions for my face, neck and legs. For reference, I am of Indian background (NC42) so my hair is dark and coarse. I've been very selective about where to do laser hair removal (there seem to be a lot of bogus places in Boston!) and took my time selecting a reputable spot. I have been very happy with the results - I almost never have to shave anymore! Furthermore, the technicians are always incredibly courteous and lovely. There was one session where I did not pre-shave and the technician (sorry I forgot her name!) was so gracious and told me that she would come in earlier than her scheduled shift the next day to accommodate me. Highly recommend! I go for my upper lip, and I am extremely pleased with the results so far. I am Asian and so my upper lip area has darker colored hair. Currently finished my 6th session, and I could confidently say that my hair removal has reduced about 95%. Even with the pandemic, I feel very safe with going in person. While I wasn't satisfied with the results from few treatments at this place, the negative review and 1 star rating is more about their (un)professionalism. First let me say that the technician that I had as well as ladies at the front desk was very nice and pleasant. Now after 1 or 2 treatments, I got a call from Cindy, the owner who asked me why I left them a bad review (which I didn't at that time) and was being aggressive. I was so puzzled by the call and asked if they called me by mistake, and she continued to push the conversation. Needless to say, the remainder of my appointments there were so awkward. Now to make things worse, I had 1 appointment left from the package I bought, which they claim they "lost". First I had to call few times to get a response back; then the excuse was that they changed their systems, then they told me they will call me back when they look into it - of course never a beep from them. I followed up one more time, with no response. Gives you an idea what you might be dealing with if you decide to go to this place. My partner, sister and myself found another spot just down the road to continue our treatments. read more

I have had a wonderful experience at the Laser Skin Center. First of all, they have the most lovely staff and have gone above and beyond for Covid safety. Second, my treatment results have been outstanding. I have thick dark brown hair and was prone to ingrowns. Even after shaving, it would grow back so scratchy and corse. I have only had one treatment but have seen an absolutely massive difference. Virtually no ingrowns and the hair that does grow back is SO much finer and softer. My skin feels so much healthier and I feel way more confident. I was on the fence about treatment given the price and mixed results my friends have had at other centers, but it is well worth the price here. I've had friends pay half the price but achieve zero results. This place is the real deal, and so worth it. read more

I purchased a Gilt for laser hair removal here and just completed all my sessions. I purchased the voucher for Brazilian but ended up buying a special they were running for underarm as well. They offered a great deal and it is a beautiful space with well trained professionals. I couldn't be happier with my results and it was well worth the price to never worry about hair growth again. I saw several different technicians over the course of my treatments but had Kelly the most often who was also my favorite. She was very professional and precise. All of the girls I saw were quite thorough. I was concerned about pain but in my opinion it hurts far less than waxing. It also takes less time! The girls were all great about ensuring comfort by pausing during the treatment and offering ice packs or soothing aloe after. I personally never had to take advantage of these because I was not in too much discomfort but it was accommodating of them to ask. I saw results with underarm almost right away (after 2-3 sessions barely had to shave in between at all). With Brazilian, it took longer, probably after 5 sessions; though hair growth was much finer and fewer than with shaving or waxing in between sessions. I can't recommend Laser Skin Center enough for laser hair removal. read more

I can't say enough good things about Laser Skin Center. I have been going every few weeks for the last 7 months and have had such a great experience. I'm Persian and have dark, thick, and stubborn hair. This is the THIRD laser facility I've gone to, and by far the best. I'm already seeing great results! Kelly has been a major part of why I like it here so much - she is soooo quick and efficient it's incredible. I'm in and out in 15 minutes. She is super professional and also incredibly sweet, I'm so tempted to buy more packages just because Kelly is so great and I know the laser is actually working on me. The facility itself is warm, welcoming, and lovely. There is always a pitcher of fruit-infused water in the waiting room and plenty of magazines (although I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes). Cindy at the front desk is wonderful and runs her business flawlessly. Long review alert, because I have so many great things to say about the services I received here! Prior to physically starting treatment in January, Cindy was awesome with explaining everything to me, from fiances to what I should expect with starting treatment. Being someone who never received laser hair treatment, and having darker skin and hair, I was pretty nervous. At my first appointment (full Brazilian), I felt extremely welcomed and the set of up everything made me feel so comfortable and at ease with such a clean environment. Even in the bathroom, there were items to freshen up prior to starting treatment, if you felt like you needed it. (Side note: at the last minute I decided to add the ab strip to my treatment, and the staff was so accommodating with allowing me to start everything in the same session) My assigned technician, Bri took care of me and I absolutely adore her! She was so patient, and made sure to explain everything. She even checked with me during the entire procedure to make sure I was doing okay, I didn't feel like she rushed with me at all. She kept the same kind and caring energy even with my following appointment I had in Mach (pre-COVID). The technology that is being used here is phenomenal, because I noticed drastic changes after the first appointment! Fast forwarding to pandemic times, with things changing so drastically, this Cindy ensured to keep me informed every step of the way about the status of their company. I didn't have to reach out to them once to figure out what was going on, they ensured to communicate with me every step of the way and I appreciated that so much! It showed me that even through the chaos, they still remained professional. Once it became safe to resume my appointments, they were able to see me this month and it was a very safe visit. Although I wasn't able to see my previous technician, Brittney took care of me and she exhibited the same level of care and professionalism that I experienced from both Cindy and Bri and i was so grateful for that! Everything was sanitized, contained, and clean clean clean!! They have always been clean, but I could tell extra steps were taken to ensure my safety and theirs. Mixed feelings on this place. What's good: - Very clean - Friendly staff - They start/end on time What's not so good: - They manage everything via paper. Appointment books, credit card info, etc. They have no electronic files. So during COVID they shut down, couldn't email or call any customers with appointments and had no message on their website. It's like they're operating in 1970. - You prepay all packages. if this business ever shut down completely, we'd all be screwed. And with them closed for COVID for 4 months i was worried I would be out over a $1000 dollars with zero communication from the owner. Scary. - Packages are expensive and you need to get a lot of them before the hair truly goes away. It's really hair reduction, not hair removal. - They will nickle and dime you. If you have to make a last cancellation the day before, it's a $50 rebooking fee even though their cancellation wait list is a mile long and they could easily fill it. So you have to pay the charge, otherwise you are sitting with packages you paid for and can't use. I realize a small booking fee, but $50 is massively excessive. - Also on nickle and diming, they divide up the body into TINY sections. So if you buy upper and lower leg, does not include the knee or the ankle. You have to buy them separately. If you buy the feet, does not include the toes. This is crazy!!! Of course, they don't tell you this until you're in the room and find out you have to fork over MORE money to get it done. - One technician I love and does a great job. Another one ran over the wand so quickly on my legs she missed every 3 inches. read more

I came to the laser skin center after a disappointing laser experience elsewhere and I couldn't be happier with my results! I did 7 treatments on multiple areas and I'd say at least 90% of my hair, if not more, is gone. The staff was always super friendly and helpful, and they always made me feel comfortable and safe with the cleaning protocols they have in place, especially during covid. I was referred by a friend to get the amazing Gilt deal the Laser Skin Center was running, and I'm so glad I did! I started with underarm laser, but after my first treatment I called back and added Brazilian laser as well. Kelly is my technician and I love her! She is sweet and will answer any question you have. I was worried about the pain and she put my mind at ease. She is quick and efficient, before you know it you're done! If you need a break, she let's you have as many as you need, but when she is doing the treatment she is so fast. The results for my underarms after one treatment was remarkable. In the six week period between treatments, I shaved twice and it was only a few, sparse hairs. The center itself is clean and quiet with a great view of Newbury. Love that I can go for a coffee or tea at the Thinking Cup after. So happy I stopped waxing and started laser treatment here! read more

They only sell packages. And for laser treatment this is a trap. You can never know how many times you have to go and buying something you don't need is not what you want to do. While this place offers specials, its because their lasars are not up to par with the newer lasars at other Hair Removal places. Do your research (I did not :p)!!! So while I got an ok deal initially, I am going to have to pay to go somewhere else to finish the job. I had a package of 8 sessions with 4 extra that were supposed to be for touchups. Cindy showed me before and after pictures claiming that 80-90% would be gone after the initial sessions - 12 sessions later and the hair is 60-70%gone if that. THEY DON'T offer lifetime touch-ups like other places for a reason - because you'd need to go for your lifetime for it to work. Most people (who go to places with newer lasars) have 6-8 sessions. I'm at almost 12 and it didn't work. My treatment has been over for a few months now (i've been going for a 1 + 3/4 of a year no joke) and I'm still a hairy beast. So annoying Everyone has different skintones and maybe yours didn't take it well you say... I have dark hair and was told I was the perfect candidate. My sister went in CT, spent $400 less, has similar but even darker hair, had 4 less sessions, and her hair is completely gone. She goes for 1 touchup a year. This is how its supposed to work. I hope you don't make the same mistake that I did! Please learn from my stupidity. Getting personal now. Because you will realize only after two years of going there and spending thousands of dollars that most work they did on you - although decent - was not necessary or damageable for your skin. In other terms, if you need an emergency session and you're in Boston, they will get the work done for you, but they have no clue what they are doing on a longer term. A good laser place is a place where they won't always accept to perform on you and will explain why. A place where they understand after a few sessions how your skin respond and will correct the treatment. After several years of perspective on laser treatment and going to different high-rated places, trust me, this is NOT that kinda place. I've been going to The Laser Skin Center on Newbury Street in Boston for laser hair removal treatments over the course of the past four years. I originally found this place while I still lived in Boston, and now that I live in a different part of the country, I realize how hard it is to find such a great place! They use a particularly powerful, modern machine, the Gentle Max Pro by Candela, which works very well as I was able to see during the year I held off on laser sessions during the pandemic. They offer discounted packages at certain times of the year. The studio itself is very clean and comfortable, and every member of the staff is professional. Cindy, the owner, knows customers by name and is friendly, helpful, and willing to work with customers' individual needs. My initial consultation was very informative and Cindy was very helpful in explaining honestly how laser works and how different areas may take longer to see a reduction. The estheticians, including Bri who I had most recently, are very thorough, skilled at what they do, and professional. They also offer an optional numbing cream, which can be a great option for more sensitive skin and is not commonly offered at laser centers. I highly recommend The Laser Skin Center! read more

I have gone to Laser Skin Center on Newbury for two different treatments (underarm and upper lip) and I recommend them to everyone I know looking into laser hair removal! I am an Italian girl with dark hair/follicles, and (especially with the underarm) I saw results after just one treatment! I just recently completed the treatment, and barely ever need to shave my armpits and they are no longer dark, which is amazing! Service is always quick and courteous, and Cindy is such a delight, as well as all the staff that works there. Conveniently located and I never have too much trouble finding parking (though I did schedule my appointments Saturday mornings).
