Family dinner for my mom's birthday at Gio's Atlantic Beach proved one thing: Italians don't…read morebelieve in leaving hungry... they believe in needing a forklift to get you back to the car. We kicked things off with the Zucchini Fritti--crispy fried zucchini strings that disappeared into marinara faster than anyone would admit. Then came an espresso martini that was absolutely flawless. Smooth, rich, perfectly balanced, and topped with three coffee beans symbolizing health, wealth, and happiness. After one sip, I was ready to believe in all three. For dinner, the veal cutlet Parmigiana over penne with marinara was pure comfort food done right. Crispy, cheesy, and packed with flavor. The Chicken Francese was incredibly juicy, swimming in a buttery lemon sauce over rigatoni that made it impossible to stop eating. Then came the special: Chicken Cacciatore with melted mozzarella, sautéed jalapeños, red peppers, and white wine sauce over spaghetti. It brought the heat--and I happily accepted the challenge. Dessert sealed the deal with a rainbow cookie cake layered with colorful sponge cake, covered in chocolate ganache, and finished with whipped cream. To top it all off, the staff surprised my mom with a sparkling candle that made the celebration even more special. Amazing food, outstanding service, and a great night with family. The only thing hotter than the Chicken Cacciatore was the argument over who got the last slice of cake. That's how you know you picked the right Italian restaurant.

Missed our favorite bartender Jamie tonight who makes the best Espresso Martinis, among other wonderful mixed drinks, in the world. Jamie did remember our anniversary with a personal note- so special! Ribeye steak prepared perfectly as requested. Eggplant parm is ALWAYS a winner. Let's not forget the special Stuffed Artichoke app. Music on Thursday's made it an even more special celebration dinner. This restaurant is consistent and the friendly personalities of every associate makes this a very special place. Our favorite restaurant. Give it a try. Full bar. Valet parking. Delicious food. Highly recommend Via Cuma in Valley Stream. Our waiter, Ivan, took the time to explain how many of…read moretheir ingredients, including the flour, tomato sauce, and ricotta are imported directly from Naples, Italy, with the ricotta coming from Sicily. The entire experience made me feel like I was back in Italy. The sourdough pizza was outstanding, and unlike most pizza I get elsewhere, I didn't feel heavy or sluggish afterward. You can truly taste the quality and authenticity of the ingredients. We'll definitely be back. The Pizza Polpettina was out of this world!

I'm driving back from Maryland and I planned to stop at Via Cuma for lunch…read more I understand Via Cuma is a not by the slice pizza shop, it's more authentic with a personal size pizza. I parked across the street (make sure you feed the parking meter) and walked inside. I'm assuming it was the owner, I said I'm so hungry and was asked to grab any open table. The restaurant is cozy with multiple tables which can be adjusted to fit a large or small party. The owner comes over with an iPad, I just want a glass of wine with lunch. No bueno, I don't think they have a liquor license. I ordered a coke instead. This word is tripping me up, I know it's devilish, Diavola? I make the sign of the cross as I order this pizza. The owner explains this is his favorite pizza, I can see why. The Diavola Pizza is made with San Marzano Tomato Sauce, Hot Soppressata Salame from Calabria and topped with Parmigiano Reggiano cheese along with a drizzle of Olive Oil. This is a pizza that's more heavenly than devilish. There's some heat coming from various ingredients but it's welcomed. The sourdough is something that's interesting, I had this dough in Syosset last week. Is this a new trend? It brought the pizza to another level, there's more complexity with the imported ingredients. I also appreciated the cheese, I should have asked if it was made in-house. Via Cuma, great pizza the other day! Thanks for the Italian lesson on pronouncing Diavola
