DODICI SAVED THE DAY! We had an engagement photo shoot scheduled at another restaurant in Rockville Centre this past weekend, but it unfortunately fell through at the last minute. Feeling a bit panicked, we ended up meeting the owner of Dodici Ray, who graciously welcomed us with open arms and immediately let us do our entire photo shoot at his beautiful restaurant. (We can't wait to see the photos!) From the moment we walked in, the entire team, manager Chris, the bartender, and the waitstaff, made us feel so welcome. Our photographer (Danielle Jenkin Photography) was thrilled with the gorgeous decor, particularly the stunning wine wall that made for the perfect romantic backdrop. Throughout the shoot we enjoyed delicious espresso and dirty martinis, followed by a wonderful lunch and celebratory limoncello shots afterward. The food was outstanding! We loved the pappardelle pasta, mussels, octopus, pizza, and my personal favorite, the fried calamari in lemon cherry pepper sauce. We were truly blown away by both the food and the warm, kind service. We are so grateful to Dodici for treating us like family. What started as a stressful situation turned into one of the most wonderful experiences. Dodici is now very special to us, and we will definitely be back soon! Highly recommend! read more

My NYE good riddance. An absolute disaster tonight. 7:15 pm reservation and we left at 8:00 pm still waiting for our table. The bartender had the balls to charge me for their Italian old fashion which he did not serve, but rather a half ass old fashioned with the speed rack rye. Never again and we made sure those that were waiting at the door to leave as well. I could say more, but I am at a much better place now (look for that review). Happy New year!! read more

Large holiday dinner. If I was able to give a 1 - word review, It would be - Eh. Nothing special. Uninspiring entree choices, lacking flavor was the common theme. And 1 other thing, It's a nice, classy looking Italian restaurant, So I just don't understand the choice to have Loud club music on a Sunday afternoon, making relaxing conversation difficult. NYE reservation for 7:15. The place was packed when we arrived at 7:00. Everyone around us waiting for their tables an hour with a reservation. Ok it's busy I get it. We find out they're having a separate event starting at 9. We sit at the bar order our drinks. My husband ordered an Italian woodford old fashion for $18. He watched the bartender make his drink with four roses and charged us $23. Ok again that's annoying. It's now 8:00 still not seated and keep in mind they're having a party at 9. I asked to see the manager no where to be found and I get a sorry from the hostess and she removed our name. I didn't want a sorry from her I wanted to eat. No organization, no apology from management and I'm sure they won't care to read this review. IL Ugo should be your local Italian choice. read more

The reviews are flip floppy. Some are great, lots are not...So, I was a bit apprehensive about coming here but glad my friend convinced me because it was absolutely incredible. From the valet parking to the food and service , everything was top notch . If you've been to Rockville Centre on a weekend , you know just how terrible parking can be so the valet parking here gives it an extra 10 points ! Pretty big restaurant , bright colors , lots of light until about 8 when they dim them . Many reviews mentioned a loud noise level but I didn't experience that. Besides the loud drunk guy talking loud next to me lol .... Okay on to the best part... my favorite part .... The reason why we're all here ... FOOD! We started with the cheese plate for two. It was decent , I think they could have been a little more generous with the meat to match the amounts of cheese they give but still tasty for an app with a nice bottle of wine. For entree, I ordered the homemade gnocchi bolognese with fresh ricotta, I would definitely order this again. Melted in my mouth, super fresh and delicious . The scoop of fresh ricotta they added on top was just perfect . My friend ordered the filet of sole, which of course I had to sample for my review (sure,sure) lol ... this was really delicious as well, I would order this on a future visit . I asked our lovely waiter,Edgar what he recommends for dessert , he recommended the banana pudding cake which my friend ordered and I ordered the olive oil cake . I really hope the banana bread pudding cake is available Next time I visit because I totally missed out . It was insanely good. My olive oil cake was good too but the banana bread pudding was on another level. The service was excellent from the valet , to the hostess , to all the waiters . What a disgrace of a restaurant. Where should I start. Came in to have a nice meal with my family but it was everything but. Food was almost inedible. Probably the worst Italian I've ever had. (If you want good upscale Italian I suggest II Luogo). The food wasn't fresh most of it was overcooked and I idk what dressing they put on one of the salads we ordered but it nearly made me sick. As for the service or lack there of, I think they may need to be trained in etiquette . I don't remember when it was acceptable to pull the table cloth off a table while still eating dessert and having drinks just because they need the table on a busy night. After basically being pushed out it's safe to say we're happy to get out and never come back to your mediocre at best establishment. read more

I have been here a long time ago and never revisited. Appetizers we had calamari, cheese board, Cesar salad. This was all good. I love when calamari is crunchy , tasty and not fishy. That was exactly that. I got the filet of sole , it came out cold I told my waiter and he fixed it right away which was great. I also want to add I thought the fish coating would have had the almond in the bread crumbs. But it was literally burnt almonds on top which was annoying but I just peeled it off bc the fish was good. Service was attentive and quick. My husband had veal chop and his friend had some type of pasta with sausage. They had no complaints. Penne alla vodka was delicious. I definitely will be back in the future. read more

My husband and i happened to stumble to this place while driving around and we noticed the valet attendant and she was outside and we asked her if there was room at the bar. She went inside to look and said yes. She was like I'll park your car right up front so you can see it. Sold for my husband. The ambience was so pretty. If you have a pre-conceived idea of what a stereotypical Long Island Italian resto might be...this place very well may be it. I was with my Dad's sister who lives down here (hell on earth..it took 3 hours to drive 67 miles from Connecticut)... First and foremost the food is the reason to come here (the visuals are part of it). The gnocchi Bolognese was excellent. House made and a very good sauce. The staff is well trained as well. The funny element is looking around at this very loud crowd...along w the blaring Mariah Carey Christmas tune which is like nails on the chalkboard (not as bad as Yoko Ono but close). Overcoiffed 30-50 years old gals w huge purses w plenty of gold? Check; Guys wearing sweatshirts with legs shaking under the table and no manners to speak of? Check; Very very loud gals in the process of heavy inebriation at a table cackling nervously (we have many of these folks in Saratoga ex-of Long Island)? Check. Dodici has always been on my list of favorite places to go to. Their food is always consistently good, flavorful and tasty. I went there for my parents for lunch we had several appetizers but our favorite were the stuffed clams and pizza, the linguine mareciaere was incredible and the cake made with olive oil was superior. Two stars because the gnocchi Is one of the best I've tasted! Light and so tasty! After being closed for approximately a year and a half, we decided to make a dinner reservation. When we entered we were told 5 minutes; they were getting the table ready. After waiting 15 minutes we were seated at a table directly backing on to the servers station! Back and forth on either side of our table throughout our dinner.... Water, Pepper, Cheese.... the waitstaff scurried. It was certainly a birthday dinner to remember! Never Again! read more

I decided to give them another shot from the last time we were here and I'm done. The drinks were bad and the food wasn't great. Our waiter was a no show most of the time. I'm very disappointed because before covid this place was spectacular. Gianni our waiter forgot about us after we placed our order. Table was very cramp. Bread was not warm and tasted a bit stale. Another waiter came by and asked if we wanted more and when I told him the problem he said he could warm it up but couldn't do anything about it being fresh. He was nice about it. Our waiter didn't tell us about the specials. The old fashion I had ordered was not your old fashion but someone behind stumbling the process. Sangria was red wine with lots of ice. The Calamari was chewy and lacked flavor The veal was extremely chewy and I couldn't finish it. The potatoes were cold and lacked seasoning. It's a shame because two Hispanic waiters were more concern and tried to make up for the experience but I suggest they take there talent and find another place to work. Disappointed. read more

Ruined our Christmas Eve. Reservations were totally mismanaged. We arrived five minutes prior to our seating, there was a crowd pouring out the door. When I reached the Maitre D'ess desk to check in I was informed we would be seated soon. More than a half an hour later was informed it would be a bit longer. Meanwhile larger tables were being seated. A large party was told that their reservation could not be confirmed as the restaurant had the wrong telephone number for the confirmation. They were whisked away by the "manager" to a nearby restaurant, Blue Moon, which we had already gone to as it was appearing to be more hopeless. The difference was the large party was having their meal "delivered" by Dodici while we just paid our way with Blue Moon. My wife and I are up in years and don't have a whole lot of Christmas Eves left. Bad on you Dodici, thank you Blue Moon. read more

We made reservation for 7:30 PM. They sitted us at 8:10, 40 min. wait. Steak was very chewy. There are many places you can eat much better pasta for $32.00. It's not even worth $15.00. Food is great here but it is unbearably loud! Came here on a Friday night and I had to scream to talk to the person sitting next to me. We were at Dodici on May13, 2023 for dinner with friends. They had been there many times and the staff knew them well. After we were seated, it was almost 1/2 hour before the waiter came to take our order. My food was good but one of our friends didn't care for his. He tried something different and was disappointed. The music was very loud and annoying with base drums pounding constantly. Why do restaurants today think we need loud music when there's enough sound just from conversations? Big turn off while we were at the hostess stand, this man in a grey suit was staring at the women in my party in a rather disgusting way, turned out to be the manager. So gross. I frequent this restaurant. However I had a date on a Saturday night. The octopus appetizer was over cooked. The texture was equivalent to rubber. Very disappointing. Restaurant was packed & I was concerned to return an over cooked appetizer. This is the first time I was given anything over cooked. My family and I have been to Dodici many times over the years. We went last night to celebrate my Sister In Laws Birthday and we were very disappointed!! We ordered the Cold Seafood platter off the special menu for an appetizer and there was such a small amount of seafood it was ridiculous!! For dinner my husband and I ordered the Scallops with Risotto and although it was tasty, it came with only 4 small Scallops and a small portion of Risotto for $45.00. Insane!! Dined at Dodici on Saturday evening Feb 15th, it came highly recommended so we were looking forward to a great dining experience. On our arrival the young hostess was very sweet and gracious, but it became quickly evident there was quite a disconnect between her and the available tables. It happened to be a very cold evening, she sat us directly in front of the door, the draft was bone chilling not to mention that the seating was so incredibly tight that one of our chairs was seriously encroaching into the hostess station area! How ridiculous, we would have gladly waited a few minutes for an adequate table but that option wasn't offered. Shortly after voicing our discontent we were moved to another table. After ordering cocktails, our server spilled one of the drinks all over the table (hey it happens, not a big deal) however his flippant response while remedying the situation should have been left at home. We let it go and ordered our meals which in all honesty we all enjoyed. As we readied for dessert and coffee, were told by our server that he was out of Zabaglione, clearly disappointed we opted for cappuccinos and coffee only. Not 5 minutes later, the same server was observed grandstanding as he prepared the same dessert for the table directly next to us. Perhaps instead of Marsala he made the Zabaglione with the LOUIS XIII he ushered over to that table earlier, because when this was brought to the manager's attention, he said he was out of Marsala. Lies beget lies. Not cool at all. If not for the other table attendants who were working hard we would not have left any gratuity, we hope that they are shared. Not surprisingly we will not be back, dishonest employees with attitudes are a major turnoff. read more
