If I had to describe in one word I would just say Disappointed. For a group of 20 I understand the chaos of getting everything correct so kudos to the wait staff. Other than that, my seafood marinara was nothing more than red sauce poured over a slew of calamari that was soggy. No clams. No mussels. No scallops. My family loves this place. The cavatelli is insanely good with the vodka sauce. There's loads of pancetta (I think that's what it is lol) in there which makes it so tasty. La Parma is one of my favorite restaurants--the food is always excellent, and the service is usually great. However, when we visited to celebrate my birthday, the experience wasn't quite what I've come to expect. We were a group of six and were originally seated right next to a large children's birthday party, which we weren't informed about when making our reservation. While I understand the restaurant can be lively, we were hoping for a more intimate dinner, and the noise level was overwhelming. Because of this, we were moved to the front near the bar and entrance, but unfortunately, the heat wasn't on in that area. We had to ask several times before they finally turned it on. To add to that, the music was blaring over us, making it difficult to have a conversation. I don't normally complain at restaurants, but between the noise from the party and the loud music, it was just a lot to deal with. I'm not sure if they turned the volume up to compensate for the noise in the other room, but it was a bit unbearable at times. Our waitress also seemed overwhelmed and started off with a rude attitude. She repeatedly forgot to bring additional menus and silverware, and when my father asked for the third time, she rolled her eyes. He respectfully addressed it, asking if there was an issue and if she was comfortable continuing to serve us, and that did shift her attitude. However, the service still wasn't at the level I usually receive at La Parma, which is disappointing given the price point. That being said, the food was fantastic as always. I had the veal special, and we shared family-style plates, including Chicken Parm, Chicken Francese, and Penne à la Vodka--everything was delicious. I truly love this place and will absolutely be back, as they typically have excellent service. My family has been frequenting this location for 20 years and it never disappoints. It is family style, so go with a group, and go hungry! Always have to start with some apps. The chopped salad is amazing, and the artichoke is tops. Those are my personal go to's. My father's favorite dishes there are the Chicken Cacciatore and the Veal Soprano. My mother loves the Marachiatta, and I love the shrimp marinara parmigiana (shrimp not breaded). Words really cannot express what a perfect setting La Parma III Italian Restaurant was for our family. I was trying to plan a luncheon to take place after a funeral remotely from San Diego, CA, and had nothing to go on other than a recommendation from the funeral home I called and spoke to Guido on a Friday and the lunch was being planned for the upcoming Tuesday a few days later. Being in the catering business myself and immediately hearing "no problem" we can do it all, was simply music to my ears. Guido said he would not be in on that Sunday when I wanted to come check it out in person but gladly provided me with the Managers name that would be available that day to meet. When I arrived at the restaurant, I met Richie, and he could not have been more helpful in confirming everything that I had expected to happen. Not only did they have us set up in a beautiful room with everything ready to go but both Guido and Richie were there during the lunch and worked the entire event in coordination with their amazing team. From the initial contact over the phone, all the way to the completion of the lunch we could not be happier with how professional and accommodating the people at La Parma III were, especially considering we had just lost our loved one. We would call them again for this or any other meal we needed to be catered. In summary, the food and service were five stars, A+, or whatever is the best grade possible! read more

Came here for a small holiday party of about 15 people. This is a family style restaurant. It's the kind of place where you can't go wrong with anything. We started with a pitcher of red sangria and the house salad. Nice chunks of fresh mozzarella in the salad. Next, we had fried calamari and a plate with fresh mozzarella, fresh tomatoes, and sun dried tomatoes. For our main course, we had chicken parmigiana, chicken scarpariello, fusilli allá vodka, fusilli with marinara sauce, roasted broccoli, linguine and meatballs. Everything was delicious. I really enjoyed the fusilli allá vodka and the broccoli though all of the dishes were great. For dessert, they gave us assorted items like cannoli dip, tiramisu, cheesecake, tartufo, and more. The places I remember. All my life, La Parma is the Traditional type of Italian food I grew up eating. Gigantic portions of fresh food. They have been around awhile and for good reason. Justin the waiter was the best part of dinner, other than the food, of course. He was welcoming and fun to chat with. We ordered salad, fried calamari, chicken scarpariella, salmon oreganato, linguine with clams, rigatoni marinara, and escarole and beans. The salad didn't have any flavor. The fried calamari were good, and so was the chicken and rigatoni. The chicken was off the bone, which I don't love. But it was clearly marked on the menu. It wasn't spectacular, it was average. They brought out tartufo for dessert. I had a cappuccino, which was delicious. The head server seemed annoyed at us but was attentive. The place definitely needed updates. The table we were seated at was broken. If I put my cappuccino on where it was broken, it would have fallen off the table. All in all, like I said it was okay. read more

Our first time here. Chose it based on the glowing reviews. Glad so many love it. Here is our experience: 1. The place hasn't seen a decor update in at least 30s years. 2. The staff and attention was just "ok", not great. No host available for a while when we walked in. Waiter was frequently not around and had to ask others for basics like a glass for beer, etc. 3. Their menu online shows entrée offerings for individuals and "family" style plates. But their menu at the restaurant only lists the entrees, and no prices listed at all. 4. Only two of us dining, and we ordered 2 entrees. They came and were obviously the family platters. Which, while the steak was nice (not great, but nice). The pasta was soggy and the calamari in it completely tasteless. 5. Their tap was down so I ordered a bottled Peroni. For my second drink I order a "HOUSE Cab". Cost: $13 for an average "house" wine? Seems high. I can't recall ever being charged that for a "house" wine, even on the Upper East side of Manhattan, they tend to be $7-12. "Named" wines by the glass tend to be $12 and up. But then a "named" wine, isn't a "house" wine, right? 6. The bill comes and we were indeed charged for the family plates, as you can see in the receipt. $55 for the steak, and $24.75 for the tasteless rigatoni with calamari. 7. $136 for 2 for dinner seems reasonable for great food...IN THE CITY. Heck, I would be fine paying that for GREAT food, in a pretty restaurant, anywhere. Not for mediocre food way out in sleepy Oceanside Long Island, in a place that is, let me be nice and say "comfortable" looking. read more

I came to La Parma for the first time this evening for a friend's birthday party. We were a group of 8. Everything served was delicious. During dinner we were all enjoying and laughing when all of a sudden I started choking. I couldn't breathe. I remember being patted on the back by someone at my table. Someone else attempted to give me the Heimlich maneuver but I still couldn't breathe. I remember someone saying "let's call 911" when I felt someone else grab me and attempt the heimlich again. I was able to recover my breath. Everyone came over to see how I was doing. The person who performed the heimlich on me was the bartender Jennifer. She told me she also goes by the name (Stuey)? If it hadn't been for the quick thinking and this wonderful woman I don't know what the outcome would've been. Thank you Jennifer and many blessings to you! The atmosphere is beautiful and the staff are great. The menu is simple and straightforward and its also on the wall. We started with a stuffed artichoke which was delicious and then we ordered Penne Alla Vodka. The dishes are family style so don't order two dishes if it only 2 people. Had a holiday party with about 15 friends here a week before Christmas. It was a really cold night so I was thankful for the valet service even though I hate giving my car keys to a stranger but the car did survive when returned at the end of the night. We were immediately greeted as we entered the restaurant and brought us to the table already set up for us. We were the second ones to show up but they had no problem seating us and waiting for each guest to arrive. We ordered a pitcher of Sangria to start, not my choice on a cold winter night but it was good. Later on I had a glass of Cab which was served in a large glass equal to about 2 glasses of wine, nice pour! Since it's family style we just picked a few apps with help from our waiter. Starting with a salad with fresh mozzarella and warm artichoke hearts. We also had the fried calamari and a couple of other apps. For the main course we had chicken scarpiella, meatballs, pasta with tomato sauce and chicken parm and broccoli. All the dishes were very good. Waiter was attentive and a little brusk at times. He dumped a bunch of broccoli on my dish even though I didn't want it and kept pushing for more drinks even though we kept saying no. For dessert we shared a platter of tartufo and other items. By then we were stuffed but the desserts were too good to pass up. After dessert a few of us went to the bar for drinks. They had a good selection of beers so I tried one, I wasn't driving so it's ok. Bartender was friendly. This is the first time I have been to this La Parma. I used to go to the Huntington location but recently had a bad experience at that location and the food was not that good but this La Parma reminds me of the good old days of the Huntington restaurant. La Parma, was established in 1984 and was one of the original family-style Italian restaurants on Long Island. The restaurant is beautifully decorated. What can I say I was left speechless with their delicious food! They have HUGE Family style portions. The owner, chef and staff take pride in their restaurant and we literally had a blast!! Yesterday we had their chicken scarpariello mixed with sauteed peppers, onions, sausage and potatoes and it was sooo delicious. We stayed at the bar and their bartender Jen is amazing. She made me the best expresso Martini and her French Martini is the best! We also had their chocolate and cannoli dessert!! OMG if you go you must have this deliciousness!! It's soooo good!! A good friend of mine recommended Parma since I was looking for a good Italian spot fortakeout since actually getting a sit-down meal on mother's day is too stressful. Great customer service here for my first visit here. The salad was amazing and the fresh mozzarella in it was soft and fresh. The penne vodka was among the best I've ever had, it wasn't too heavy but very creamy. The chicken scarpirello was tender and all the food came out hot, refills on drinks and bread were flowing and I loved the Italian ice served in a lemon! Super disappointed for my Mother's Day order. I ordered Saturday afternoon for Sunday 6pm pick-up. Waited until 7:05 for my food. All I wanted was chicken Francese and what did I get?! In a half tray size tin, I got 2 chicken cutlets cut in half... 4 half cutlets for 18.95? I was feeding 4 people, are you kidding me. I ordered the penne ala vodka.. normally delicious, had no flavor what so ever!! I have no idea what went one but clearly wasn't managed properly at all. I am super disappointed!
