This quaint and cozy establishment served us fresh food and excellent service! From the Mother's Day menu we both chose the shrimp/clam over linguine with white wine/garlic/oil. A glass of wine for me and Signature Cocktail Lemonade Refresher for him. We shared a mixed berry sorbet for dessert. The placed was packed with other mothers and their families celebrating the day. Barbara our server was friendly and efficient. We never felt crowded or rushed. The noise level was muted, we did not have to shout at each other to be heard. I've always wanted to come here and try this place out. It's on a corner and has a cozy looking vibe to it so my baby made sure we came and got to experience it. The place is nice and spacious tables are t on top of each other and the staff were all good. We ordered to drink espresso martinis which I thought were good I believe I have 3. Of course appetizer we ordered a few he wanted to try the meat balls busy did ask to put ricotta on them he thought that were ok, decent. We ordered the baked clams which I believe he enjoyed I thought were just ok. I don't think I am a clams person and I once was. We also got the calamari which was good and flavorful. We did also get the stuffed mushroom which was not my favorite at all. For our entree I ordered rigatoni with shrimp in a vodka sauce it was delicious the shrimp was fresh. He ordered tortellini the sauce was green not sure what kind of sauce it was but he did enjoy it. For dessert my favorite is always crème brûlée so I had to have it I did also enjoy it. We had a 90th Birthday party in the private room. We fit almost 30 people in the room. Roberto and Adam were amazing. Incredibly accommodating, helpful and friendly. The Food was delicious. Timing of courses worked perfectly. Our guests couldn't have been happier. Highly Reccomend. read more

Definitely ordered this for bday weekend and once again they never seem to fair me. I always go for the short rib and polenta with a side of spaghetti for take out. The restaurant is enclosed and i know people can't eat with a mask on so i choose to eat it at home. For the safety of our community. Long Island has a tendency to feel entitled and don't wear their masks so we prefer to eat at home for the safety of our family. I've been coming here for over 10 years now with my family since I was in HS when it was solè, loved it then and still love it now!I just went a few weeks ago with my girlfriend (great cozy place for a date night and not too expensive for the quality) and as always the food we got was piping hot (as any Italian dish should be) and delicious, we got an order or the rice balls and although it's only 3 for like $17 or something which I thought was a lil steep... they're so good I don't even care! only minor complaint I could ever have about the place, and I've tried atleast half the dishes and apps on the menu, highly recommend, and I forget the guys name, but i think he's been waiting there for awhile he looks to be around 50 60 years old, very friendly, very quick, and efficient at his job, very lucky he almost always ends up being our waiter, and all the bus boys and rest of crew are very attentive and make sure you're not thirsty keeping ur water filled and the table clean. We visited on opening day this past Wednesday and it was a Home Run. This made an already great dining experience even more enticing. The Happy Hour featured a nice selection of wines and beers, paired perfectly with a variety of delicious appetizers. And ALL at AFFORDABLE prices. They were unaware we had not received our appetizer yet, and we were told it was not put in. They took our entrees back. After we finally finished our appetizer, we waited for over 30mins for the entrees to be brought out to us. While waiting, our server actually thought we were done eating and brought us a dessert menu because we had been waiting that long. The server wasn't aware we didn't even receive entrees yet. I had dinner with a friend of mine on Saturday night 3/25. I chose this place because they had a separate vegan menu which had good choices to chose from. Food: I ordered vegan pear salad for appetizer, main entree was vegan veggie panini and desert was mango sorbet. The sandwich was very good and filling, I took the other half of sandwich home and ate it for lunch the next day. My friend order salmon dinner, pear salad, and cannoli chip dip and she said it was very good. The customer service was good and the ambiance was nice. I prefer to go to Osteria restaurant rather than traditional Italian restaurant because the menu selection. I'm so glad that Meta had vegan menu as many restaurants on Long Island are not very accommodating. I'm going back again soon! read more

Just came back from this cozy little restaurant. Everything was absolutely delicious. Party of eight including one with celiac and the gluten free menu was also great. For the most part, we really enjoyed our meal of beef osso buco, grilled chicken over penne pasta, linguine with marinara and a fine ending dessert of crackling creme brule. It was all filling, good sized portions, very nicely seasoned and felt and tasted like good ol' comfort food. The only part that was not to our liking was our waiter, who inappropriately criticized the busboy, as well as did not bring us fresh ground pepper, nor grated cheese although he brought it to the tables next to us. Sounds petty, but we knew that this same waiter was familiar with the other couple we were dining with, plus, our meals DID call for the pepper and cheese. Overall this place was good, would go again but it isn't at the top of my list. Ambiance is nice, good for a quiet dinner. We got the calamari and bruschetta for appetizers which were both quite tasty. As for the entrees i was mildly disappointed. Ordered the chicken parmigiana ravioli and it was okay at best. The raviolis were stuffed with finely shredded chicken that was just a mushy mess (not a good texture) and drowned in pink sauce that was way too creamy. Did not taste like chicken nor marinara. The restaurant has changed for the worst! We have been going to Sol'e / Meta since early 2000's we have ordered the famous Veal Chop forever! Well this time something was off so the waiter asked if everything was okay? I never send food back or complain but this needed to be addressed since it has never occurred before. The owner came over and said to my wife if you don't like it, just wrap it up give it to your husband. I'm sure he'll eat it.! I was thinking about making this A-Hole wear that plate of food but I held my composure and let it go the owner then the A-Hole went on to saying they had sold over 30 of those meals tonight and no complaints and told us he will send out sauce from the Kitchen to taste . I told him OK taste it with me and let me see your reaction he put it on the table and simply walked away, I did taste it and it was gross. The owner did not come back to ask what I thought of it We asked for the check and the way they brought the check back to the table. He was also upset that the owner was still charging, us for this disgusting meal asked if I would like to speak to the owner about the charge, I simply told the waiter no, that's not necessary. We paid the bill tipped the waiter as we always do The waiter the apologized for the owners actions and said I hope it's better next time I said to the waiter on the way out sorry this is the last time that I will be coming to meta Good luck new owner! This place is amazing !!!!! This used to be Sole, and it is SO MUCH BETTER NOW! Ambiance and wait staff: the ambiance is amazing, brick, trendy, really nicely done, the bar is nice too. The wait staff is attentive, friendly and very helpful. I have some allergies and the kitchen was willing to accommodate them! The manager also came over to ask how the meal was, which was very nice as well! Food: awesome!!!!! We started with the Caesar salad that is served in a bowl made of Asiago cheese, it was to die for. Then we ordered the burrata... it was creamy and delicious, served with eggplant, pesto and roasted peppers! Yum! For dinner we ordered the chicken Parmesan ravioli in pink sauce, no prosciutto, and the short rib ragu with homemade tagliatelle, the homemade pasta was thick and al dente, it was so good. BUT the chicken Parm ravioli was out of control and I will be ordering next time I go!!!! We didn't get dessert because we were stuffed ... I will 100% be heading back to this spot ! Been living in the area for well over 10 years and have driven by this place countless times. Decided to meet some Long Beach friends who also had never eaten here. Ambience is cozy and cute and staff was nice. Ordered 2 salads (watermelon and pear) that were delicious. Our biggest issue was with ordering and transparency. My friend ordered the chicken parm and asked the waiter if it was a thick piece. The waiter then proceeded to offer that the kitchen would gladly pound the cutlet down. What a nice offer we thought, and we went about our meal. Mind you, we ordered 2 bottles of wine and a dessert (the pistachio tartufo was great), so money wasn't really an object. We were shocked to find out that there was a $3 extra charge for pounding the chicken down. If the waiter would have been transparent, we might have thought otherwise, but he offered like they would do us a favor! Be up front and let the customer make the decision, adding an 'up charge' after we accepted an offer he made is sneaky and it should have been our choice. Besides the salads, the food was okay. Probably won't be rushing back here and sort of a shame being it's a local cute spot. read more

I have always loved Meta, a true local gem in Oceanside NY. With all the restaurants closed for inside dining, started doing take out and deliveries from several different places around home. Last night we decided to call meta to place a pickup order. While the menu is just full of many favorites of mine, I decided to try something different. I ordered Nana's Ragu,Slow Simmered Meatballs, Sweet & Spicy Sausage, Rigatoni, Herb Ricotta while my wife decided on the braised Short Ribs. When I went down to pickup my my order, was pleased to see that they have begun serving outside tables that were nicely arranged.  The customers and staff seemed so happy to begin getting back to normal. Put my mask on and entered the bar area to pickup my order.   First impression was sadness to see what would be on a Friday night a lively jam packed dinner crowd.  Although the lights were dimmed, the staff was energetic and seemed so happy to be able to get back again at what they do best. The food, the food, only can say spectacular, the sauce on the Nana's Ragu was a  treat, Rigatoni with a herb ricotta was fantastic, not to leave out the meatballs and sausage. My wife really enjoyed her braised short ribs, so rich and expertly prepared. Have to say this was one of the best take out dinners we have ever had. Generous portions prepared with a true dedication of quality. I was so pleased that Meta is still there and so happy that the owners and staff are there.
