Dishonest and shady office staff has turned this once amazing dentistry office to shambles. When they stopped accepting my insurance and did not inform me of it was the turning point. First they sent me a bill from an appointment that was 6 months prior for charges that I had no knowledge of - they backtracked and said they don't take my insurance anymore and I needed to pay it. No, that's not how this works! I paid what I was supposed to pay when I was there, they wanted even more after 6 months?!? The way I found out was when my daughter went for her appointment and they told her it would be somewhere around $100 for what we had been paying $0 previously. No notice! I told her to get back in her car and come home, do not go sit in that chair for your cleaning! The office staff had the audacity to tell me they would charge me for a no show if she didn't stay, somewhere around $100. I laughed, and told her that it is on them for not informing us of their change in accepting our insurance and to come find me for that missed appointment charge - please, come find me! That was the end of going there. It's a shame. I liked Dr Adams, he was nice. It's the lack of communication with the patients in which they lack that led me to find another provider. I was a patient with Dr Adams years ago. The attitude of the office as always offputting, but I thought I was getting good care. It turns out, multiple aspects of dental work by Dr Adams was incomplete and done very poorly. After years of an infection that broke into my sinuses, I went to see a specialist who immediately identified the poor work. He also knew exactly who did the work, as he has had to help other former patients of Dr Adams with similar issues. Thousands of dollars, multiple procedures, and multiple health issues later, I am back on track and healthy. As a side warning - over the years, I have posted about this experience on provider review sites. Those reviews, and others I would see about similar botched work by Dr Adams, have since been removed. read more

I've been going here for routine dental work without issue for years, but my experience during the covid-19 pandemic left me a little shaken and wondering whether I want to keep coming back. I haven't seen any reviews detailing how they are handling covid-19 and hope this can be helpful for some, especially those who are extra cautious like me! I've been very careful throughout this pandemic and even after restrictions have started to lift, the only places I go are the grocery store and necessary doctors visits. I'm worried about the safety of my family as I have several high risk family members and absolutely try to avoid any places that don't require masks. I hadn't had a teeth cleaning in a while and decided to come here for it like I normally do, and ever since I haven't been able to shake the uneasiness I felt about the protocols. First, they ask that you call them when you arrive and they will let you know when you come in. I was happy about this because I assumed this meant I didn't have to sit around others in the waiting room... but I was wrong about that. They only have you call to allow people in one at a time through the entryway-- the call isn't for when your hygienist is ready. They do require masks for patients, but I ended up sitting in the waiting room around other people. This protocol felt confusing and left me wondering why I even needed to call them if I'm going to sit in the waiting room anyway! I got my temperature taken and had to sign a waiver ensuring I knew that my likelihood of contracting the virus was higher in a dental office. Then they have you head back, hang up your mask, and wash your hands and rinse your mouth before you sit in the chair. I liked this. The part that made me nervous came later. I was not asked to put my mask back on when I changed areas, and I kept seeing other hygienists and employees with their masks pulled down near me and in the spaces I had to go to. I know it's hard to wear masks all day long, but I couldn't physically wear my own mask to protect myself (since they had to work on my teeth, haha) and being asked to walk into rooms maskless where other maskless employees had been just moments before made me especially worried. These people see patients all day long and have much higher exposure to others than I do, and having to have my mouth open in these areas was nerve wracking.. especially since research shows the virus hangs around in the air for quite a while! I also noticed that every chair was full as I walked to my chair, and there were quite a few people in the waiting room as well. This made me wonder how quickly each room is turned over and if the rooms get a chance to air out and get disinfected. When I checked out, the woman behind the desk also had her mask down to chat with other people behind the desk, and she pulled it up as I approached. I just felt as though the mask requirement for employees is not being taken very seriously here. Knowing that employees are taking their masks off while around each other and in the areas patients go to just seems like unnecessary negligence to me. I've been happy with their work when there wasn't a pandemic, but I personally wouldn't want to come back here until I have a vaccine and will be looking for another dentist with stricter covid-19 protocols to make me feel more comfortable. read more

This is a different type of review from the restaurant reviews I'm used to writing, but people don't JUST EAT. They need to take care of their choppers, too! It's been awhile since I last went to the dentist .... probably about 4 years. As a hot tea drinker (having been raised in a former British colony) my teeth showed the stains. My parent (thankfully) weren't as derelict in my dental care as I've been. Having had a truly awful dental experience at the hands of a Navy dentist, I've avoided dental visits like the plague unless absolutely necessary. Having worked on a production of Little Shop of Horrors didn't help! The folks at Adams & Cheek Dentistry changed my perception! They were thorough, explaining every step of the way, sensitive to my discomfort threshold, gentle, presented me with a course of treatment, looked out for my financial liability and provided quality service at a fair price. Mt favorite question is "What is the value proposition?" Parents: teach your children young to tak care of their teeth and to not dread a visit to the dentist. Take care of your own teeth .... I will never go to any other dentist! I had an appointment today at 1:30 for 6 fillings. I was numbed topically before the novocaine injections, I never even felt the needle! Less than an hour later I was already on the way home, never felt a thing! I am typically very anxious about dental work but after this visit, I have no apprehension about returning!! Everyone in the office is very courteous, professional, and patient. They do a good job of informing you clearly about current issues and potential concerns for the future. They take more of the positive reinforcement approach to dental care, rather than scolding you regarding your dental health, which has honestly helped me to take better care of my teeth because they have helped me to learn better techniques and I am not as stressed out by going to the dentist! I also appreciate that they are thoughtful regarding billing/insurance, such as scheduling procedures in a way that will not cause problems with insurance (and they explain this very clearly as well). The facilities are clean, beautiful, and comfortable. It is just a small issue, but my only complaint is that the "open concept" office design means that you can easily hear the conversations of other patients (and presumably they can hear you!), including discussions of a medical nature (both dental issues and other medical history/status information), so I just wish there were a bit more privacy. read more

I've been going to see Dr. Cheek (he pretty much HAD to be a dentist, right?) for a few years now. He's young, friendly, nice and well informed. I have had regular cleanings, night guard and a crown since going here. Dr. Cheek has been great about being up front with me about what I may need now, how to prevent future problems and what I'm doing well. His staff is friendly and the billing lady will always let you know how much your insurance will cover before you're finished. For more expensive procedures, they give you this information up front so you can make an informed decision. They are helpful and friendly and good at what they do. And they even stay open late during the week for those that can't take a lot of time off work! read more

I don't even know where to start - I was so overwhelmed by how kind, professional and absolutely painless my experience was with Dr. Adams and Donna D. (hygienist) and Donna G. (dental assistant). Let me say, if you are like me - someone who has experienced a great deal of pain in the dental chair and is scared to death of letting anyone anywhere near your teeth - Dr. Adams is the man you want to see. At every step, from cleaning to descaling to taking out my fillings and giving me a crown, they were so careful to be sure I was relaxed and comfortable. They were in and out of my mouth in what seemed like record time - nothing like the 30+ minutes I remembered just to get one or two teeth drilled and filled. Biggest highlight: I felt NO pain whatsoever at any stage - not even discomfort - (except of course a little soreness in my jaw the next day from keeping my mouth open for the procedure). They explained what they were doing and why and made recommendations for treatment without pressuring me in any way. Dr. Adams took extra time with me to answer all my questions and address all my concerns - not a few! I cannot say enough good things about the quality of the dental work and the caliber of the staff at this truly unique practice. After decades of terror, this practice has me actually happy to get my teeth cleaned, crazy as that sounds. read more

I went for my first visit today, and I could not be happier to have found this office. From the moment you walk in the door, everyone is so pleasant, friendly, and inviting. The office itself is beautiful and doesn't feel like you're at the dentist, which helps for people that are nervous about going to the dentist in the first place. Niche was my hygienist, and she was so gentle and amazing. Dr. Cheek was awesome as well. They take care to inform you of what work you need done, but will take the extra time to really explain what's most urgent. I highly recommend this wonderful place. read more

Dentist (Adams or Cheek? Can't remember) and hygienist (Donna) were great. Receptionists were "snarky." Best way I can put it. They seemed a bit put out having to work around my schedule both times I was there. Exception to that is one of them did offer to (and did) hold my infant so I could fix something on my truck, so that super nice. Beautiful office. Had 4 fillings and 3-4 sealants and no pain. I didn't even feel the needle for numbing. My wife, however, had the dentist hit her gums with the drill, so that was sore for a couple of days. Overall, a good experience. Would like to see just a bit more professionalism from the receptionists and maybe it was a fluke, but drilling my wife's gums didn't leave me with great confidence in the dentist's attention to detail. He seemed rushed with both of us. He did say, "It's been a crazy day," but still. We paid him $2500. Crazy day or not, take care. read more

I used to think that my past dentists were the cream of the crop. I was a loyal patient until the 60 mile drive became too much and I heard several recommendations for Dr. Adams' practice. I now know what I have been missing all these years. Not only is the environment pleasant but the staff are terrific too. Of course, Dr. Adams is the huge draw for me. I needed a filling and I was pretty nervous because I have ground my teeth down for so many years that my enamel so thin that even a slight bit of extra grinding to make the molars match up after a filling could result in sensitivity that wont go away. Dr. Adams was in and out with a perfect match in FIVE minutes. I was amazed at his skill. Also, he can inject Novocain where you don't even feel the needle. Bar none, he is the best dentist I have ever seen! read more

Been back twice since January & I'm very happy with this office. They are very quick and very thorough. I typically get my teeth cleaned every 6 mos and the dentist I've been seeing previously since I was a child didn't even tell me the issues I most recently found out I had! This office was doing things that had never been done to my teeth so I will most definitely continue coming here. I saw Cheek in July 2018 when I had sore gums. They did an intense cleaning and I ended up in the hospital with an infection, and losing a tooth. Despite the fact that he took x-rays, he didn't see the crack in my tooth, and the cleaning aggravated it. I'd also called their emergency line and left numerous messages, since i was running a high fever, and nobody responded. Before the cleaning, I signed up for a one-year program, quite expensive, that covered one more cleaning and another set of x-rays. I wanted to ask for my money back, after my hospital visit, but opted to let it go. Five months ago, my mother was diagnosed with stage iv lung cancer. She never smoked and was never sick in her life. I called Cheek's office to cancel my appt. and reschedule. I ended up taking my mother to Yale, where they are saving her life. While dealing with that, I still managed to play phone tag with Cheek's office regarding rescheduling my appt. for when we returned to Raleigh. It turned out that we would be back just two days after the year expired. I called and asked the office if I could have an extension of a few days, just a few days, since we were away, getting my mother's lung cancer treatment. They said, "no." I was shocked. I called back and spoke to another person, and she said she'd talk directly with Cheek. I just heard back and the message is that "Dr. Cheek said you can't extend it." What a small-minded, callous, greedy man. SHAME ON THEM. read more

I had very extensive work to be done and not only did they work with me financially so that I could get it done, they made me feel comfortable. Between the smart TV.with headphones, massage chair with heat and my blanket, it felt more like a spa treatment then a root canal.
