The staff (most not all) are rude and do not communicate with family members about their loved one. They do not return phone calls. They talk rudely to the residents and about the residents to other staff members. My loved one sat in their soiled brief for over 2 hours on more than one instance because the nurse would not answer their call to take them to the restroom, which resulted in an infection. My loved one has also been given the wrong medication which resulted in an ER trip. Seniors deserve to be treated with dignity and respect, not like they are children without a say. Do yourself and your family member a favor and do not send them here for nursing/rehabilitation. I can't speak about the other parts but this area is horrible.

Hundreds of the Mayflower residents living in the Independent tower still are not…read moreallowed back to their apartments after the underground parking flooded during Hurricane Ian ( 9-28-22). As of today 11-4-22 the residents are still not allowed to go to their apartments even to pick up their belongings. Many are living in hotels. The Mayflower neglected to take care of flooding which has happened in the past but this time it fried their electrical, the generator and the elevators. Here is the latest update from CEO Steve Kramer on 11-4-22: This week, we continued to make progress on repairs to our electrical system. We received two tractor trailer loads of temporary electrical gear, which are being prepared for installation once the demolition of the existing electrical equipment is complete. We expect demolition to be complete and equipment installation to begin by the middle of next week. Once temporary gear is installed and activated, we will be able to initiate elevator repairs. Again, much of this work is happening simultaneously. As you know, we originally asked residents to prepare to vacate their apartments for three to four weeks, based on information we had at the time. Next week will be the four-week mark - and while we have made monumental progress in a relatively short amount of time, given the scope of our repairs, we clearly will not be able to have residents return yet. Because we are still awaiting confirmation on lead times for some critical repair components, we cannot yet provide a specific return date - but our contractors and suppliers are working with us to expedite the process as much as possible. As soon as we are able to solidify the timeline, you will know. We've had a number of inquiries regarding concerns about the possibility for mold growth in the apartments. Please know that we are regularly monitoring the apartment towers, and both our Building Services Director and Director of Construction agree that this should not be a concern in the apartments. Additionally, the garage and areas that were inundated with water have been remediated and treated as well. Many of you have been visiting the new Mayflower healthcare building. If you do: As a matter of safety, please do not park in the designated Fire Lane when you first enter the new building's parking lot. The City of Winter Park has been issuing citations to vehicles parked in that area. Finally, I'd like to share some good news: Last night, the Winter Park Chamber of Commerce held their annual Best of Winter Park reception. They closed the nursing home, which was very unfair to everyone who moved there and was told they had a 5 Star nursing home. To add insult to injury, every year they continue to increase the monthly fee to live there. Residents buy the townhome or condo, which then goes back to the facility when your loved one dies. So basically, your loved one is taking a large amount of money and just burning it in a fire pit. The monthly fee covers water, taxes, and use of the new outdoor pool. Give me a break! Water and taxes would not cost over $1,000 a month to live in the townhome. I believe the fee is higher for the condos. They mow the area, but residents are responsible for their flower beds. Save your money and keep your loved one in their home and pay someone to come in and look after them! In my opinion, these places lure folks in and take their money....all under the guise of Christianity. It's shameful.

There is an application process and then it's on to customizing their villa. The layout is spacious and the onsite staff was very helpful in coordinating their appliance deliveries and unit customizations. The community is quiet and well kept, nice landscaping and mature trees. The fellow residents are very nice and welcomed my folks to the neighborhood and the St. Luke's Lutheran church community. My folks are settling in to their new home very nicely.

She was an extremely articulate and humorous speaker who seemed to really know her stuff and I was to find out when it really mattered that my first impression was spot on. A few months after attending the presentation, I unfortunately let another consultant convince me to use him as he was claiming Ms. Risner was far too busy to give me her full attention and good service but it turned out to be him that would drop the ball in so many ways it was ridiculous!! Luckily when I needed advice regarding the previous choices I made, I remembered her comments and her encouragement to give her a call even if she was not my consultant and she'd be sure to give me her best thinking so I called her, made an appointment, met with her just this past week and I sure am glad I did! When we met at her office, she was completely 100% invested in what I needed which was advice regarding my Part D Medicare Drug plan which had changed drastically after I had renewed it during the past open enrollment. She was so engaged that not only did she help me with my Part D issues, she also noticed that I would save money on my Medigap premium if I was willing to consider changing plans as is allowed with the Medigap plans & so by going with her suggestion, she saved me $28.44 a month on my remaining nine monthly premiums because she noticed the alternative plan that was almost identical to the one I originally chose but had experienced a 7.7% decrease in the premium cost with the only change being that I would be responsible for the full or partial $185 deductible if any of it was not paid (which it turned out was paid in full in January due to a lot of medical charges that had already gone through.) She took her time, gave me her full attention, and expertly showed me the plan coverage, and even documentation of the price decrease. Also, she even confirmed that no additional underwriting would be necessary if I chose to stay with my current plan provider. She answered every question I had and didn't rush me nor did she make me feel badly about asking lots of questions as I was a bit confused about the change at first. Today when I called the plan provider they confirmed every single thing Ms. Risner had told me as well as confirmed the total cost savings of $256. That is quite a savings!! If you need someone to help you make good decisions regarding healthcare insurance and Medicare issues, look no further than Teresa Risner and her company LTC Advisors. I'll be referring all my friends and neighbors to her!!

Vitas come on once I decided to end chemo as it was not working and cost me 12000 in dental work. From day one they listened they let me talk they let me tell them how I felt. They put together a plan and have been nothing short of exceptional so far. I now receive equipment that I need and the correct medications so that I can possibly enjoy the rest of the time I have with my family. Maybe I just got lucky but I pray that anyone else using Vitas has the same experience that I have. Honestly I actually have hope which is something I haven't had in 2 plus years. God Bless.

Before switching to their services, we were led to believe that the necessary DME equipment was readily available, but after switching, we were given multiple explanations as to why it was not available. We also had concerns about the care provided during a visit. An aide came to our home for approximately 30 minutes, did not properly clean my father, left his dirty clothing on the floor, and left the home without notifying anyone. I contacted the company to report our concerns. Instead of receiving a call to discuss what happened and hear our side, we received a call from a manager who spoke aggressively to my family and me and said, "We will not talk to our aide that way." We felt that our concerns were dismissed before the situation was fully addressed. We also did not receive an apology for the way we were spoken to.
