I attempted to explain to her that I was there for a reason, she refused to listen, said she was the property manager and that I "better leave before the police and the real trouble starts." I will never coming back and hope the "property manager" learns how to conduct herself in an appropriate matter. I should have filed my own police report instead of leaving but I had small children watching and she did not make it a safe environment. Unbelievable!

The sawtooth building is not a business in the conventional sense. I mean - there is stuff to buy there, but that's not its function. Sawtooth has been converted from what used to be some soft of factory, to a set of studios, where artists/creatives of every different medium work (and play!). Jewelry? Check! Blown Glass? Check! Painting? Naturally! Sculpting? Of course! Meditative Akido? Surprise! They got that. Other creative processes that I could only vaguely understand? YES! One of the great parts about visiting this mecca is the maze-like quality. I'm guessing that this studio space evolved organically, on an as-needed basis, so there are all these random hallways that lead you every which way. Along the halwaysl, there are entrances to the spaces themselves, so you end up discovering creative spaces as you wean your way through the maze. Or, like me, get lost looking for a place to pee.

I have a story with a happy ending, thanks to Altana…read more Last spring, I managed to snag my 16-year-old beloved (and fragile) engagement ring on the rim of the clothes dryer, of all places. The band snapped and sent the tiny diamond flying, never to be found. The original jeweler was incredibly generous with his time and made me a new ring, but he's much more popular now than he was back then, and his style has shifted somewhat. When that ring arrived, it wasn't what I was expecting. In his effort to give me a more durable ring (understandably!), he'd gone in a very different direction - the old ring was small, delicate, and understated; the new ring was rough, matte, and chunky. Enter Altana. You know how great artists find the sculpture in the hunk of marble? Sakura polished the band, shaved the setting, and managed to make a miracle happen: I never, ever thought I'd find a ring that could compete with the original, but I can honestly say (shocker of shockers) that I love this ring all the more. It's also more sturdily built, so I'm not so worried about its durability, and it's the perfect ring to last me the next many years. She was also delightful to work with - she totally got the challenge, and aced it. (She's now rebuilding my wedding ring, which is of the same style as my original engagement ring, and just as fragile.) Well, the link came off and I was trying to connect it to the bracelet, only to have it fall out of my hands onto the carpet. (Good luck in trying to find that link.) No worry. The Gold Spot Jewelers to the rescue. I stopped in this afternoon to take care of business (bizness). The elderly gentleman was indeed a tremendous help. He was skillful and a professional in jewelry repair. OG got it going on - mad skills and all. The "brutha" is awesome in my book.
