The reflexology was intense, but had a sense of precision about it; I could tell she was "reading" my feet and responding to what she found. If you want a deep tissue massage - oh man, this is how it's done. He worked spots on my back that I didn't know existed, and it was fantastic. I get the combo deal which is an hour of foot reflexology and a 45 minute deep tissue message for $115 after taxes. I am in heaven every time I go. I so love the foot reflexology and enjoy the little video that they play for you so you can learn more about foot reflexology. Now I don't actually retain any of this information as I am in my own little world by this time and am just enjoying the reflexology. After the foot reflexology session of relaxation you move to the back room and get the deep tissue message. All I can say is wow. Once again Luke saved my life. I pull my muscle three days ago at work. I over used my forearms because it was the first day of the sale season. Tried hot bath and the cooling pad at home for two days. The situation was only getting worse. I didn't even have strength to grab things with the right hand. So I called Luke made an appointment for today. I had a 45 mins foot massage to claim my nerves down. Followed by a 45 mins full body massage. I told Luke my main concern was my right forearm. He laughed and asked me to lay down sideway, he reached to my back and a very unique spot right under my armpit. There's a tendon or something I don't really understand. And it hurts like hell. But it was like that, he didn't even massage my forearms where I kept complaining about the pain was. And all my pain was gone. It only took him 15 mins to focus on that part. I've called this place many times while I was in Vancouver on various occasions and they finally picked up their phone, yay! Hubby and I got a 45 minute express foot massage as we were a bit pressed for time and it consisted of a 15 minute foot soak and 30 minutes for the actual massage. The space was large and clean and I especially enjoyed the oversized reclining love seats. We were also given a choice of tea or water. After the foot soak with our choice of scented sea salts, we moved onto the massage. The foot massage here is different in that they use wooden sticks which is supposed to be more exact than using only hands...and I completely agree. This is one of the best foot massages I have ever had. The technicians were knowledgeable and able to inform us of certain issues and how we may improve our health, based on feedback from various pressure points on our feet. However, be aware that this may not be a totally relaxing foot massage as the pressure they use (especially with the stick) can be quite hard. I knocked off one star because I find them to be quite inaccessible. As I mentioned, I've tried calling many times and I only just was able to see them. I discovered this clinic on a recommendation from a co-worker. I'm so pleased that I did as I have had 13 acupressure massages to date over the last several months and I feel amazing. My neck issues have been ongoing after 3 car accidents and a few unfortunate falls. Convenient location, clean interior, nice staff, and most important of all great technique. I was in Vancouver for 3.5 days and came here twice. "Expression Combo" of 45-minute foot massage and 15-minute back, neck, and shoulder massage on 11/24 and then a 45-minute back, neck, and shoulder on 11/25. The lady who did my foot massage not only had great technique but also was accurate in her assessment of the state of my health (based on the foot massage). The guy who did my 45-minute massage on Day Two, the head masseur, was very good, too. Honestly I was a little hesitant the place and location wasn't so shabby. but this guy I swear he knew what he was doing I didn't catch his name but he had cool purple&grey hair, he's been in medical field in China for 10 years so as he was doing my feet he was pointing out that i had healthy organs told me couple years ago my sleep used to be very bad. He definitely knew what he was talking about because I kept asking questions and he had answer to everyone one that I could think of about feet reflexology. After we walk into the back and did the DEEP tissue massage.. Now I don't get massages often or ever, and I work out at least 3x a week you can imagine the tightness.. he put in wooork. If you have no experience with trained massage therapists, you might like this place. It does involve laying under a warm towel in a darkened space with new age music, with fingers running lightly over you. However, if you have experienced massage from someone who has trained at a full-time massage school for 2-4 years, then there seems to be very little value here. The massage I experienced had pretty well zero effect, compared to a massage from an R M Therapist (Registered M. Therapist). Basically it makes all the difference in the world to be trained professionally at a school. Footopia is located in a mall (what was once called Tinseltown) and is essentially a Chinese spa. On the phone I asked for the name of the person who would be treating me, and was stonewalled - the only reply was "we have many massage therapists". That should have been the clue for me. I was promised deep tissue massage, which is one way of saying that they have no RMTs, which was confirmed on arrival. I gave it the benefit of the doubt anyways. The young woman who treated me was certainly well-intentioned - I don't fault her for trying - but displayed no RMT or similar training, so the result was amateurish. I made that clear to the woman running the place, but still had to pay full price for the time spent on me. Overall, one of my friends' young daughters doing amateur massage could have done equally well, as there was no benefit in terms of relaxing the muscles. There is no doubt the towels were nice and the music was new-agey soft. If that is what you like, you will be pleased. For me it was a waste of time and money, and I still have to search out a proper massage while my usual RMTs are on holidays. read more

I got a groupon for a back massage and it was one of the worst massage experiences I've ever had. The massage was extremely painful and the massage therapist talked to the owner during most of the process. Afterwards my back was so sore that I had to icepack it and the next day I woke up with bruises all over my back - ouch! He worked me thoroughly and he treated injury to my shoulder I forgot I had, that he knew was out of balance based on his work on he rest of my body. I felt lighter as I left. He massaged very deeply in my lats to get the tension in my neck to release. This relieved my neck pain and headaches. I am going back for a couple more treatments before I leave Vancouver.
