She wore a mask so I put one on too which didn't bother me. I started on my left side, then switched to right and finally she helped me prop up in almost a sitting position with pillows under both arms. In advance, I asked for a therapist trained in the McKenzie Method based on recommendations for low back pain. Phone person (who was very nice) checked and said that would be no problem. However therapist I saw, while familiar, wasn't certified. Place is jammed with older people (with potentially no/low deductibles) and, by listening to the patients checking in, a LOT of workers comp patients who are looking for reasons to not go or leave work. So ka-ching$$$, for Gold Medal every time they visit. Physical therapy services that are provided are adequate and not quackery but unless you have the in-office equipment they use at home, you have to come in. Younger front office staff complained loudly to each other about being understaffed. I chose Gold Medal in part based on Massage Therapy services advertised. Only to discover it's all out of pocket and they only have one massage therapist. Plus they haven't figured out that billing massage therapy as manual therapy is what works for insurance companies so it's covered. Actually went back to my doctor for a new referral and found superior service with another PT office in Bel Air. That PT worked with me the entire time, provided a home exercise program on my first visit, and asked if once a week would work with my schedule though no massage therapist on staff.

To my surprise, I found a wonderful clinic just eight minutes from home that also accepted my insurance! After reviewing the website, I realized their program offered everything I was looking for, and more. I had the option of a 30-minute in-person consultation or a 15-minute virtual one both on the same day. I chose to go in person because I wanted to not only learn about the services but also see the space for myself (plus, it was so close!). Shortly after booking, Cara-Michele, the practice owner, called to confirm my appointment and suggested I double-check my insurance coverage. That evening , I arrived a few minutes early, and I'm glad I did. The GPS directions were a little off. The building houses several other businesses, and is secure, requiring visitors to be buzzed in. As soon as I walked into the suite, Cara-Michele greeted me warmly, and I immediately felt comfortable and confident that I was in the right place. Her calm, compassionate demeanor and thoughtful questions helped her understand my needs, and she gave me the space to express my frustrations after so many prior appointments that left me without answers. Cara-Michele walked me through all the services offered, including nutrition and physical training, as well as showed me the equipment and products she uses. While she made no promises, I left that consultation feeling truly hopeful. I scheduled my first acupuncture treatment for the very next day, and the second the day after. The sauna at Holistic Solutions was state of the art, from the lighting, areas of concentration for the infrared treatment, the lighting, even down to the music (either your own or choose from a selection similar to what you'd expect to hear during a massage session). Cara-Michele was great and seems knowledgeable about her craft (which seems to be overall holistic wellness). She took the time to explain how the sauna works to me and after my session she walked me through all the different programs she offers. I liked that she had a lot of holistic supplements for purchase but I only discovered them from looking around on my own, she didn't try to push them on me like a used cars salesmen. Outside of supplements she also has nutrient powders and shakes but be advised they're not vegan. I have a primary place I already visit for acupuncture but I do plan to visit this place again to try out some of the other services offered.

We tried contacting several spas and massage providers who either didn't have the availability or didn't respond back. Finally, I texted Metta on the number listed on their website and they responded within a few hours. We were able to schedule sessions for the time and day we wanted via text which was very convenient. My masseuse called out sick the day of so I was paired with Forest. My boyfriend was paired with Tav. Both providers were friendly and accomodating. My boyfriend LOVED his massage with Tav. He said he dozed off a few times and could see himself coming back every month - such a great sign for someone new to massage. I enjoyed my session with Forest as well and left feeling relaxed. A few things to note: they don't provide couples massages but instead do tandem massages. Meaning, you're in different rooms. This wasn't a dealbreaker for us but could be for others depending on your preference. They also still require masks here. We brought our own surgical masks but were asked to use their K95 masks they provided. This was a little uncomfortable during the service, especially while facing down, but I can understand the need if they have a lot of immunocompromised clients or staff members.

I was not worried until I had a big bruise on my face for about 9 days! Everywhere I went people asked me about it. Freaked me out. Also bad: Office is unable to provide easy way to submit to Flexible spending accounts (FSAs). Patients OOP is separate from the superbills, and they email the Superbills separately, creating a huge job for patient. I had seven visit and had to make 3 calls and deal with 14 different emails in order to submit. I gave up. Seems like a healthcare company could do better given the expansive use of FSA/HSA reimbursement. Also bad: When looking at the superbill it said I was there for the treatment of pain. I did not seek accupuncture for pain. I did not have much pain, I suspect they did this to garner insurance coverage. Pain was only a very small part (or no part) of the reason I sought care. And while I was happy they got the treatments covered, it made me uneasy Also bad: A provider called me to speak to me about the hematomia after I reported it (oddly not the provider who gave it to me) When I called back, they never returned my call.
