This review is a long time coming. I know I should have written it a long time ago. We had a sliding patio door replaced by "Renewal by Andersen" back near the end of the COVID pandemic. Yes, that long ago. But every time I see their commercial I think I should write this review. Well now I'm doing it. After looking at their products I was very impressed. The materials and workmanship were beautiful. So we had them come out and look at our project. The initial visit went well. I liked what they had to say and what they offered for the price. We ordered a new sliding door for our sunroom. We knew it would be a bit of a wait, that was ok. COVID was effecting most manufacturing with manpower shortages. Finally the day came when or new door was delivered and the crew would install it. Two very nice and very experienced gentlemen showed up. They unpacked the new door to find rather significant flaws in the finish. To their credit, they showed it to us immediately and recommended they order a replacement rather than installing this one. We agreed. There was another LONG wait until the new, new door showed up. On that day the same crew showed up. They unpacked and inspected it and we all gave it our approval. So the install began. They removed the old door assembly. Prepped the opening. And set the new door in place... just to find, to all of our horror, the door was too short for the opening. It was a full 6 inches short! The installer immediately called their office and informed them of the disaster. They, intern made a million apologies and then proceeded to rush order another door. The installers jury-rigged the wrong door in place to fill the opening (in the middle of winter) until the 3rd new door arrived. Finally the day came when the new, new, new door arrived with the installers. They inspected it, measured it, and when satisfied installed it. Finally... It was done. The finished product is beautiful. It works beautifully. We love it. I'm glad we have it. I wonder every time I look at it if it was worth it. You will have to decide that for yourself. read more

Sitting through a presentation on PowerPoint and already charging me 30,000$ without measuring my windows . Having the salesperson tell me my house was outdated after telling him not interested. We only wanted our main floor estimated but yet the salesperson went in our basement and focused on structural issues. Poor installation of windows. Insulating foam should be in between the window frame and house frame. The installers foamed sloppy around the window not sealing the gap. The caulking was sloppy. They must have broke a few of the screws securing the window frame to the house frame because there are a few empty screw holes. The windows are very drafty. Really can feel the cold air when opening the window shades. Way too expensive for the poor installation and draft of the windows. I would choose a different window company and save money if I could do it again. read more

Read before you buy! One very unhappy customer of Renewal by Anderson, and here are the reasons. I should start by saying that I have owned homes with Anderson Windows and doors in the past, and they have been very good products. I guess everything does change, some for the good, and some for the bad. I recently replaced sliding doors (3 sets) using Renewal by Anderson. Even though their quote was nearly double any other company, we decided to use them due to their reputation and marketing message about their company. Concerning their advertising / marketing message. They want you to believe that they are a vertically integrated company, meaning that manufacturing, installation and service are all one company. That is not true. During the installation, a simple question to the installer clarified that he was an independent contractor, tax identification as a 1099. This is not an employee and is exactly what all other window and door companies utilize for their work. They will tell you that the contractors are "their guys" but a 1099 is a 1099, and they can work with anyone they want to. As far as the product itself, some parts are made by Anderson, and some are not. That is one of reasons for my issue below. The repair technician and the service center both admitted that the manufacturing of the glass is subcontracted out to another company, and that Renewal by Anderson simply makes the frame. And of course, the glass is the most important part of the product! That is what keeps the cold air / hotair outside!! Since that time, I have had problems with all doors, have had numerous services calls to "fix" the problems, and have an open work order out now for almost 8 months. The sliding doors on the second floor have been "repaired" twice, and the cold air continues to come through the doors. Each time a technician came to my home, some minor adjustments were made, but this did not stop the problem. During the last visit, the technician Caulked the outside frame of the door to prevent the cold air from coming into my home. Now..... if this was a "custom measured door" that was installed correctly, you shouldn't have to caulk the outside of the frame. It simply wasn't measured correctly or installed correctly, and that is what is letting the cold air in. The sliding doors on the lower level have another problem. The grids on the inside of the glass rattle loudly if you touch the door, open or close it. I have sent videos of the problem to the service center. The technician who was here last time said that the rubber bumpers were not installed on the grids. He even took a video himself and said that this was a real problem. The bumpers I am taking about are the little inexpensive rubber stoppers that you have on your kitchen cabinet doors to soften the noise when you close the door. My doors on the second level have them all along the grid inside of the glass, and there is no rattling when you open or close the door. There are no bumpers on the lower-level doors. The technician said that they must have forgotten to put them on. After numerous calls to the service center, I finally found out that Anderson didn't make the glass! I was told that when they contacted the company that made the glass, they told Anderson that sometimes they put them on, and sometimes they don't. This is ridiculous. There isn't a manufacturer out there that does not have a SOP (Standard Operation Procedure). It is never left up to the employee whether or not to install a part. When I told the service center that Anderson is the customer since it is outsourced, and they should demand that the problem get fixed, I was told that they are working on it. This has been going on since last summer. Once again, no resolution since it is not all one big happy family. I have called, pleaded and argued that if these doors were in any executive's home from Anderson, they would be removed immediately. The product is inferior, or at best, equal to any other company and is double the price. Also, their warranty is not as good as other companies with their limitations and time restrictions. Example: Universal Windows is a true lifetime warranty, not 10 years on the frames and 20 years on the glass. Take my advice, do not do business with this company. You can get superior product for less than half of the cost, and much less aggravation. read more

DO NOT Call this company! They are thieves and con-artists, preying on the elderly. They have somehow swindled my 80 year old aunt into paying thousands upon thousands of dollars for windows she can't afford. They even somehow signed her up for a loan! They say "we just need your initials here, so we can measure", "I just need your SSN, so we can look at loan options". and BAM. Shes under contract, windows ordered, and a loan she can't repay already set up. All calls to the company are being ignored. We will be contacting our attorney next. read more

The Guy who came out was very respectful and professional but after he told me it would be 30k just to replace 13-16windows, I laughed and told him thanks for your time. He told me Andersen Windows are expensive because they make there own windows and they last for about 50yrs. yeah I'm not buying it, especially after seeing all the other reviews of people having problems with their windows. Worst company. A lot of issue with them. Trying to get a quote and it's then get a tons of different people calling me back. When done with them I started getting emails about their offer. Told them to stop and unsubscribed. Even their customer support apologized. And few months later I started again getting spam email every four hour. You can go to their fb page and read all similar issues. I organize events so because of this experience I will not recommend them to have a booth at these events. read more

Good afternoon or morning, I am following up on my interaction with Anissa during a phone interview. There are two sides to the story. So, here is my complete conversation with Anissa. Let me point out that Anissa contacted me first saying she was running late. I gave her a thumbs-up text. Then my phone rings 7 minutes earlier (which was not our scheduled time) I answered the phone and kept saying hello and I could hear someone moving around in the background. The phone was disconnected. No return phone call from her. She knew I was waiting on her call because I answered her first text saying she was running late. Why would she not call back? She has a certain amount of time set aside for each interview. Then 30 minutes later. I text her if she wants to reschedule. No reply. I waited for 2 hrs. and send another text. I texted no reply. You must be having a bad. Please give me a call when you have a moment. At no time did she mention anything about rescheduling the call. She gave me some lines about keeping her appointments on time. She is the one who originally texted me saying she was running late. Anissa could have called on time for our interview, called back, or replied to my text. She had time to text me first saying she was running late. My time is valuable, and I just do not send my resume out to any company. read more

I had windows placed by Anderson renewal in December 2022. The windows started having a weird, loud popping noise coming from them after installation. Finally by January 2023, we started calling the company about the issue. We have had four repair visits and the issue has not been resolved. I have been persistent with calling the company about the issue. Now , after a upper management person suggested the last repair, which failed, they want a virtual appointment at my home with the same repair manager as was here last week. Enough is enough, I want my windows replaced with an upgraded version in hopes this will resolve my issue. The customer service has not been any help. They just want to come to my home and have me wait for them to try and fix the issue. This is ridiculous. Terrible customer service for a very expensive windows. Buyer beware, they are not what they advertise. Research other companies. read more

We had Renewal by Andersen replace all our windows in our home almost 10 years ago and a problem arose. Rae W. did what she could by being the "spokesperson" for the office but the customer service with Renewal by Andersen is horrible. I would do 0 stars if I could. Once you're out of a workmanship warranty, they could care less about you, They already have their $18K. Our original salesman Chris M. was no help either with our current issue. I would like to post pictures but won't at this time. Lots of "you should hear from someone", "we've sent your info to our team", but you never hear from anyone. I called for a free quote. It never happened. They gave me the line that someone needed to come out and look at the windows I needed replacing to give an accurate quote and I would need to allow 1 1/2 hours of my time. I reluctantly agreed. The salesman was on time. After greeting me I wanted to show him the windows he was not even interested and was not even the guy that would be measuring them. He was a sales MAN! I explained I did not need to hear all the great things about any windows I can not afford and said cut to the chase what would a standard window cost to replace. I needed 4 to start. Again he went on and on how nice his windows were then finally he said about $2000 per window. We laughed and said you can leave now. He was reluctant to go and hung around another 15 mins I explained he was wasting my time. I have no intention to spend $2000 on a replacement window. Do not let them in your home they are a rip off and a waist of time. They are not there to see the job but to persuade you to buy over priced windows. He went on and on about how when we go to sell we will get all our money back. What a joke homes are not selling even with new windows. I will find a handy man and get my windows from Loews I'm willing to pay $400 a window and that is it. Refuse to let these guys in they will not leave till you buy. Just stand up and say go now. Dont be afraid to be rude they are not gonna leave without a kick to the ass. read more

We had our renewal by Anderson windows installed on 3/24/2017 by Rich & Mike. The installers were on time and efficient in installing the two windows in our house. Cosmetically every thing looks great and the windows are of a much better quality window than the originals that were replaced. At this point we believe the installers deserve 5 stars but will reserve 1 star for 6 months to make sure that there are no problems with the windows quality or installation. Overall the experience with Renewal by Anderson was top notch. We believe you get what you pay for and we hope to have many years of reliable performance from these windows. C&T Capel read more

The replacement started last year for a bay window and 5 regular windows all at the back of the house. We have all the windows on the front of our house replaced 11 years ago with Andersen windows. The regular windows were installed first because there was a problem with the bay windows. However 2 of the 5 windows installed didn't have the grids on them. They said that they will come back and replace them with the grids. They came back to install the bay windows. The house siding that was disturbed during the bay window installation had to be replaced, but they couldn't match the existing color. They installed white aluminum siding and will come back to paint it to match the existing house siding. This all happened last year around November 2017. We fully paid them even though the project wasn't complete yet. As of now June of 2018 they haven't done anything to complete the project. I have called them and emailed them many times and I haven't got any reply. I'm frustrated already. My next step is to contact BBB. Maybe that will get them to complete the project in a satisfactory way. read more

I replaced a large kitchen window and had a bay window put in my living room. The windows are wood (maple) and excellent quality. The installation team, Rich, Mike and Ken, were professional and and conquered any installation difficulties. They were also a great group and answered all my questions during installation. Six years ago Renewal by Andersen replaced 23 casement windows and 2 doors in my then 24 year old house at a cost of over $38,000. The window installation was average with good fit on most windows but there were a few that were left with visible space between the outer frame and the inner frame that sandwich together. And couple weeks after installation a stress crack developed in one of the fixed windows and someone came out to inspect it and ordered a replacement. About 2 years ago I noticed that my windows did not look right. Normal reflections looked distorted as if the glass was bowing inwards. Before I called to inquire about this I received a recall notice that they were having issues with the seal between the panes of glass and would send someone out to inspect my windows if I so choose. I did and they determined that most of my sashes were defective, ordered 27 new sashes and replaced them several weeks later. They had some difficulty installing some of the replacement sashes and a few did not operate smoothly when trying to crank them closed. After several attempts to adjust latches and even breaking one, I was told that this was the best that they could do and a more experienced installer would come back to adjust them further and replace the broken mechanism but after this and again trying to adjust them I still have windows that I won't open because they are too difficult to close. All this I could live with because I really had enough as this was getting to be quite a pain and decided not to review negatively at the time because I felt they just did the best they could -- until now. One of the doors, a service door into the garage had developed problems over a year ago. The paint on the inside of the door frame began peeling off and the steel door itself was fading badly. I have been round and round with them trying to get this repaired or replaced for over a year with countless calls, sending pictures and waiting for them to contact the manufacturer. After calling them again yesterday and re-sending pictures I was advised today that now the door is over 5 years old and out of warranty. I replaced adjacent garage doors with steel doors before this steel service door and they still look like new and have not faded at all. Andersen is using a company called ProVia to supply their doors who is using inferior materials and neither one of them will back their product, not even after spending over $38,000. If you're shopping for replacement windows or doors I really recommend that you choose someone else with better quality, experience and integrity. read more

We have thick frost forming on the inside of the screen door and was told oh that's normal. Ummmm it's not. Customer service is a joke. Wow! I expected a good installation to match the reputation of Renewal by Andersen, but I got something better. I've seen lots of construction jobs, and while some were more careful than others, cleaner than the rest, but today's crew was exceptional. Rich, Michael and Brandon entered the front door with their arms full of canvas tarps. They covered every inch of where they'd be working plus the floors from the door to the work area. Then they covered the floor of the work areas with plastic, and taped it to the baseboard. And then they put plastic over every bit of furniture that was at all close to the work areas. When they left they rolled up the plastic and picked up their tarps. The only thing they left behind were my new windows. Not one bit of rubbish. We all know their product is top notch, but it's the installation that will make them fabulous or disastrous. Rich, Michael and Brandon were great!! read more

My husband prefers Anderson Windows because of the brick molding. He also wants the windows to match the existing ones. We have ordered a new set of windows every year (x5) since living in this house. This last window, was terrible. They need to get competant installers. I know it's hard to get good help these days. But I spend thousands with you and am left with a window, 1/2 - 1" of caulk, and then the siding. The window should touch the wood siding. The installer told me not to worry the caulk will last 25 years, no kidding. I bought a window, not caulk. They sent someone out twice who seems to be confused on how to fix the job, and the fact that it will require them to redo the wood siding. Yep, you need to redo the siding, to touch the window, like before. It is very sad to have this experience, as we have been loyal Anderson Window customers. UGH! read more

****Buyer Beware!**** I recently had Renewal by Anderson out to install a new window in my bathroom shower, and had an awful experience. The individual the company sends out to perform the official product measurements took incorrect measurements of the old window, and consequently ordered a window that was 30% too small for the space. When the installation team came out to install the window, they explained that they've had issues lately with the measurement teams making these kinds of mistakes, and although they expressed their frustration at the inconvenience, they ultimately would have to reorder the correct size window, which would subsequently take 2-weeks to receive and install. This resulted in a hole in my house being patched up and a plastic sheet placed over the hole so we could continue using the only shower in our home for the next two weeks. The installation team acknowledged the inconvenience and assured me that their manager would contact us to discuss what they could do to compensate for the mistake. Two weeks passed from the initial installation date, and I did not hear from the manager. After I called their office to explain my frustration at the lack of communication, I subsequently received a voicemail from the manager explaining that Renewal by Anderson would not accept responsibility for the miss-measurement of the window as well as the hole in my house and would not be doing anything to compensate for the issue. The manager wouldn't even go so far as to apologize for the inconvenience or the lack of communication over a two-week period. I was utterly shocked at the complete level of indifference and poor customer service. The installation team came out a few days later to finish the installation of the correct size window. It was then explained that the manager reprimanded them for not simply installing the wrong size window, plugging the gaps with wood filler, and leaving the site with the mentality that it was somehow my fault that the window was not the correct size. Keep in mind that this would have required that I subsequently re-drywall and re-tile my bathroom to cover the wood filler that would have been exposed around the incorrect window. The install and buying experience was done very well. Good installers. However, after about a month the locking mechanisms stopped working on the new patio door. I looked up the number to call for the warranty and called. I was sadly connected to multiple people (felt like a run-around) and after about 20 minutes I got disconnected. I called back again, this time calling directly to Valley View and no one answered this time. So I left a message and after 4 days, I am still waiting to hear back from somebody. I guess Renewal by Andersen is on the ball for Selling you products, but they make is really hard to make a warranty fix. Hopefully I hear from somebody by the weekend, or I will have to go thru that process again of trying to get ahold of somebody to help. read more
