I had gotten work done last August at another Renken. I made an apt here since I now moved to Leander and was still in pain. I had gone to another dental office (not Renken) in April or May and was advised that I would need the crown replaced if the pain didn't subside and since it was done within the year timeframe to go back to the office I had gotten it done. I thought all Renkens were contracted together and was not told EACH IS SEPARATE until after the appointment. That isn't even the main reason I am upset. I am upset because the billing manager tried to insinuate it was odd I waited so long. First of all I wasn't asking for a refund so not sure what I would have to gain. I only wanted the work redone. Maybe some people like having dental work done again for fun but that isn't my idea of a good time. She needs to learn proper etiquette such as how to properly speak with customers and understand dental billing with insurance. Work is normally guaranteed for at least a year. The other staff was nice but I would caution going here since she unfortunately needs further training and coaching. I will be contacting the general manager here as well as leadership at Renken for her to get proper training. Lucky for me my job is to find people online that may not be listed so shouldn't be hard to get in touch with Dr. Renken himself even though he is in another state. It appears this is a known issue as well if you look at other reviews. Luckily I do not bunch all Renkens together and feel bad for the dentist and non billing staff because they were nice. True they should have stated they were all separate PRIOR TO THE APT as I would have never gone to this location. So I will be addressing that as well as it is very confusing.

He is understanding about my anxiousness, he explains everything in detail as he is doing a procedure. Dr. Good continues to check in about how you are doing during the appointment. He always presents the option that will benefit you the most...he helps you watch your purse strings. Dr. Good also gets to know you and is always asking about the last thing you talked about. He has a great personality so that helps the time fly by during your visit. The entire staff is amazing!! I have adored all the assistants and hygienists. The office staff is efficient. The office is also extremely welcoming and comfortable. Love the chairs!!

The most concerning part: I was told I needed to pay a $100 deposit just to schedule the procedure. While I understand deposits in certain contexts, this felt out of place in a healthcare setting. Patients are already committing to treatment and cost--adding a pay-to-book requirement creates an unnecessary barrier and, frankly, erodes trust. Yes, the deposit is applied toward the final bill, but that doesn't change the principle. Patients shouldn't feel like they're paying for access to care. Healthcare--especially dentistry--relies on trust, transparency, and patient-first thinking. This experience leaned too far in the direction of financial policy over patient care. If you're exploring dental providers, I'd encourage you to ask upfront about payment practices and find an office whose approach aligns with your expectations. She said, "All insurance is bad but TRICARE is the worst". They said I needed a deep cleaning and that insurance wouldn't cover it. never heard the price for that procedure. Unfortunately, I have a similar story to several recent reviews here. After moving, I decided to go to the closest dentist to me. I did not look at the reviews before going (won't make that mistake again!!) I want to stress that before this, I had not been to the dentist for three years. I expected some type of work (cavities etc) would need to be done. However, I take decent care of my teeth and had NEVER had a cavity or any type of dental work - besides wisdom teeth - done before this. Everyone was very very friendly, check in didn't take long, and overall very nice initial experience. Once in the room though, I waited for about 25 mins for things to get going. Once they started, they informed me that I had stage 2 periodontal disease, and that it was completely irreversible as I had 15% bone loss. They also informed me that I had 7 cavities that would need to be filled, along with several more that were on a watch list. I was shocked to say the least, and asked what I could do for it. They said I would need a deep cleaning, and asked if I wanted to do it today. At this point I was two hours into my appointment and hadn't had a cleaning or anything, so I told them I would need to discuss with the front and schedule it out. It was around $1700 worth of things that they said I needed to get one, and I was super panicked. I decided to get a second opinion before I committed to this, and went to see my previous dentist today. I requested my x rays from here, but never received them, so my other office ended up having to redo them. I do have a couple of cavities (not near what they said) but ZERO gum disease. Not even gingivitis. Here, my gum pockets were supposedly ranging from 4-6 mm, but at that dentist they were at a 2-3. I see some people love it here and that's great, but I will definitely not be coming back and just want to caution others, as this seems to be an issue in the last 3-4 months here.

My husband had already chosen a dental practice he thought would be good so I agreed to get my teeth cleaned there. Just my interaction with the hygienist assigned to me on my first visit was enough for me to know this was not the practice for me When I explained about my previous painful experiences and my apprehension about even having my teeth cleaned, her response was, "Well, this IS a dental practice. EVERYthing is going to be uncomfortable." I decided not to proceed with the appointment and left. I went back to the research I had done. RR Dentistry had lots of very good reviews and their web site emphasized "patient comfort" so that was where I chose to make an appointment. It was the right decision. I could not be happier with my choice. Every member of their staff from the New Patient Coordinator (Susie) to the dentist (Dr. Cory Roach) to his assistant (Lisa) was both friendly and competent . Everyone put me at ease. Dr. Roach was thorough and gentle as he performed an extensive examination of my teeth and mouth. His assistant (Lisa) was also very kind and compassionate. The hygienist who cleaned my teeth (Pam) did so with zero pain. It turns out my bottom left wisdom tooth said it is time like Mariah Carey and created some of the worst constant pain I have ever felt in my entire life. No Advil could save me. They were in network with my dental insurance and had an emergency appointment slot that morning, which covered the x ray and the visit as a whole. Jessica at the front desk was great and helpful in getting me situated. The dental assistant, Lyric, was very helpful with getting all of my x rays. Afterward, I was taken to a room where Dr. Mittal told me that the pain would persist unless I got my wisdom teeth removed, which is not what I wanted to hear. She shared that by Thursday they would have their oral surgeon, Dr. Kelley, who comes in monthly to Hutto Smiles Dentistry to do wisdom teeth removals and other oral surgery. I was a little reluctant to do it so soon because two days felt fast, but after talking with my family we committed and got his last appointment at 1 pm on Thursday. Flash forward through two nights of even worse tooth pain and surgery day had arrived. We arrived 30 minutes before my appointment as requested to go through documents. I was seen around 1:20 and they got me settled in. By 1:30, the anesthesia kicked in, and the next thing I remember, I was in my dad's car getting a smoothie. Both Dr. Kelley and T, his assistant, were great and did what seems to be a good job, but honestly I do not know because I was knocked out, which is exactly what I wanted. I did not want to feel any of that. They did a good job getting me through the surgery and the whole process. They do seem a little behind schedule both times I went, but that feels pretty standard for dentists and doctors these days. It was not anything too extreme. Just do not expect to be in and out if you are in a rush. I have not been to a dentist in a long time, but I am considering returning to Hutto Smiles Dentistry in the future to get my teeth cleaned due to how well they handled everything. They did a lot to help me prepare for the surgery and made the process as easy as possible. Now, I heal. She talked to me through everything she was doing and giving me some comforting words along the way. My initial cleaning went great!
