I have been to many dentists and Dr. Reid is by far the best. Unfortunately Smile Doc does not accept my current insurance and I had to find another dentist. It has been a year since I left Smile Doc and I still have not found a dentist who comes even close to Dr. Reid's efficient, honest, competent and compassionate care. They are all so very professional and friendly! I must shout out Tee! The middle of last year I had some trouble with scheduling with an endodontist referred by Dr. Reid. I called the office and Tee handled it for me right away! I was impressed that they will go out of their way for their patients. Today I saw hygenist Javier at the Smile Doc. This was my first experience with him and he was great! His communication was clear with each step of my cleaning process; I really appreciated that. I also need to mention the lady, I forgot her name, who walked me back to Javier. She introduced him, asked me about any issues that I needed addressed, what was my music choice and if I needed a blanket! She said that she this was my hour and she wanted me comfortable. Well, the first time I visited I was treated well. They were nice & efficient. The second time I visited, all I got was nice. No more efficiency. My story... I had an infected tooth at the end of December. I called them up for antibiotics, because they were kind enough to call in a script before. They proceeded to call it in. I called them back a few days later on January 2nd to make an appointment for the end of January because my insurance would have kicked in by then. So I made an appointment for January 25th. I told them (the receptionist ) specifically my situation. How I had to take the day off and it was imperative that I get everything done on that day. I was going to need to have two teeth extracted because the infected tooth was now cracked and I had another old tooth that was also cracked that needed to come out. I was in a lot of PAIN! I made the appointment for 3pm., they close at 5. I work 12 hour shifts and I was getting off at 5:00 a.m. that morning, so I made the appointment for later that afternoon so I could get at least a few hours of sleep before the appointment. I reiterated that I needed to have two teeth pulled and I said that because I knew it would take time and they close relatively early. They said it would be no problem they would take care of me. I drove for an hour and a half to get there. Stupid Austin traffic and construction!! UGH! Anyway, once I get there I go straight to the X-ray room. I was so rushed, I felt they were trying to get me into a bomb shelter. The urgency! Lord have mercy! Anyway, the Dr. comes in after 18 min. (the time was on the TV) he explains my options, he says "give me a couple of minutes and we'll get that estimate for you", 11 min. later...the assistant shows up, gives me an estimate. I look at the estimate, I quickly decide that I'm doing the extractions and getting partials until I can get the implants. So I call the assistant back in and I tell her what I'm going to get done. I asked how soon can the Dr. get the broken tooth out because it's hurting really bad. I asked, "how many patients does he have left?" The assistant said oh no, "we're not going to be able to do it today, you'll have to make another appointment." I said,"are you kidding me?" "I took the day off without pay and I traveled an hour and a half to get here." I specifically explained what I needed done and how I was taking the day off to get it done. I explained that I can't come back for at least another 6 weeks and I have a broken tooth that's hurting really bad and it needs to come out now. I can't wait another 6 weeks. She said, "I'm sorry but we just don't have the time." I said, "I understand that you have other patients, but that's why I specifically asked for this time slot so I can get this done today because I am not going to have another chance to come back anytime soon" and she said, "well, I'm sorry but we can't do it today." So I left was having nothing done, took the day off with no pay, traveled an hour and a half, and still had a broken tooth. I ended up coming home and pulling the broken part out myself. Now, I have to wait another 6 weeks to see a different dentist so I can accumulate enough PTO to take the day off. Sorry excuse for a dentist. That's what happens when you overbook. Greedy people who don't care about your health, just your wallet. NEVER AGAIN! read more

I was in the market for a dentist closer to home and observed comments in my neighborhood FB group. I saw the name The Smile Doc come up quite a few times with glowing recommendations so I had to follow the lead. The location was convenient and accessible. There was parking available. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by the staff with a warm welcome. I had prechecked in and before I could sit down I was called to the back. X-rays we're taken with state of the art equipment. All the staff we cordial, gentle, professional and on point. Dr. Reid was amazing as well, very informative, knowledgeable and shared with me my options. I'm not sure I can do enough justice here, but I feel obligated to share my experience and appreciation for this practice. Starting with the front desk - they were incredibly helpful getting me in quickly and thoroughly discussing all options for what I need. During my visit the office was very clean, inviting, and honestly the most comfortable chairs in any dentist office I've been in. When filling out pre-visit paperwork I was asked what music I enjoy. Walking into the room with the hygienist, guess what's playing? Dr Reid was great about listening to my concerns equal to explaining his opinions as to what work needs to be done. I feel that every one of my concerns were considered and addressed. Once work was completed, I had follow up concerns. Rather than trying to ease my mind over the phone they had me come back right away. I was in and out quickly, as everything was ok, but the fact they considered my worries is huge. Also, Melanie has been absolutely phenomenal keeping up with my post op status. I feel bad bothering with questions, but she's effortlessly let me know that I'm no bother. If I have been, I'd never know it. So, if you're looking for a good dentist and office, look no further. Give them a try! I can't imagine I'm a special case. I never once felt uncomfortable at the dentist office. I went in expecting a rough experience due to lack of oral care on my part, but the second I walked in, it was clean, friendly and I never felt judged. Also, it turned out I was over stressing about my teeth and only had minor issues. The staff are kind and there was little to no waiting before being lead to the dentist chair. Once they have you sit in he chair they asked what music you'd like to listen to or if you want to watch something in tv... and guys, they have a tv on the ceiling for when your laying back in the chair! Genius! Ha! My daughter's first experience with a dentist was here, and she now has no fear of going to the dentist! They're THAT good! I had a few bad experiences with dentists in the past and was extremely apprehensive about going to another new dentist! I did some intense research and up popped Dr. Reid! Innovative technology and very reasonable prices. They will work things out with your insurance so your outta pocket costs are minimal. I recently have a root canal done at The Smile Doc and let me just tell you, it was a SEAMLESS process! I'll also mention that my son had two extractions done during the same visit. The staff and the doctor took such great care of us both! Katie, tended to my son for his procedure. She made sure he was nice and comfortable, allowed him to pick what he wanted to watch and after made sure he made it to my room safely after he was done (our procedures had a very slight over lap). For me, well I was much more nervous (SCARED, let's be honest) than my son who handled his like a champ. But let me be the first to say, whatever horror stories you've heard about root canals WILL NOT be your experience at #TheSmileDoc! Irene tended to me. She talked to me, made me feel comfortable and put on a dope playlist to help calm me down. I even got a surprise check in by the front desk rep., Leiy, who knew how scared I was and just wanted to make sure I was doing alright. When the procedure began, I was so comfortable I nearly fell asleep!! (I'm not even lying!) Dr. Reid took his time and was very proficient with the work he did. He assured me that if at any point I needed a break that would be alright. Fast forward to the end of the process and I wouldn't have known anything happened if I wasn't there to witness it, and no I didn't get put to sleep. I was up for the whole thing. There was literally NO PAIN... AT ALL!! My gums were slightly tender that afternoon but the next day I was completely fine. When I tell you you're in good hands at #TheSmileDoc please believe that is NO JOKE. Try them out for yourself and thank me later :) Also, as if they aren't already fantastic enough!... While dropping some items off at the post office today, I happened to look up and saw a guy passing out packs of cookies to the employees. Wouldn't you know it was Dr. Reid!! He said he brought them a little treat because he's always making them do a bunch of work. HAND DELIEVERED COOKIES AS A THANK YOU!?
