Great indoor range and staff! Have been going to this range ever since I started going to school in Nevada and will continue to do so as long as I'm in Reno. Lots of rental firearms for tourist/visitors as well as ammunition and range essentials for experienced firearm owners should you forget to bring your own. Range safety officers are excellent and emphasize the safe handling of firearms. I attended one of the stores CCW classes at the end of 2018, I found it to be very informative and professional. Our instructor went over all of the local laws regarding concealed carry, ideal types of handguns to carry, caliber choice and so on. There is even a part of the class that uses a digital simulator to simulate a situation where you must draw your CCW. I plan on going back to take more classes. read more

coming in from California, this place is an absolute breath of fresh air! every single employee is nice, and polite. none of those range masters that power trip and make you feel like crap. They do their jobs; they go out of their way and educate you without being rude or condescending. As far as their firearm selections for rent/purchase; look no more. they pretty much have everything. I'm doing 3 stars because it is a cool range, however I waited for over 2 hours before I had to leave and there were still 2 groups waiting to go into the range. I drove from from Sacramento to this range because they rent full auto firearms and have a birthday promo for a free magazine through an Automatic firearm. It is a bit unfortunate I was unable to fire any of the 5 firearms I brought with me, as well as the rental firearms. Some of the staff is a bit brash as well. They do take care of their members though, we waited so long from what appeared to be members coming in a getting a lane before non members which I like, I could be wrong about this. However I did notice there was another set of lanes completely empty labeled "tactical lanes" to the right of the regular lanes. Maybe, while these lanes are not being unitized for tactical training they could be used for regular paying customers? That would have gotten 5 extra lanes opened up. The gentleman that charged us for the targets we bought to be used in the range advised me to make a lane reservation so the wait wasn't sooo long however when on their site that function was unavailable to non members. I recently purchased a gun from RGR but my experience and service was not good by any means. In fact, It was so disappointing I made this yelp account just to review them when I would usually not care. I'm not even close to an expert on Firearms or Ar-15's and I don't try to give that impression. I've owned a couple different firearms for years now but still need education on new products. Especially when it's a 4 figure purchase, I want to ask questions and get informed so that I'll make the best decision/purchase. However, this shop gave a "locals only" AND "experts only" vibe to their approach on customer service. Meaning they were cliquish and condescending towards me from the first question, to the moment I left with my product. The first guy who helped me was obviously bothered and made me feel like a burden to the point I apologized for my lack of education. Then when I checked out I didn't tip and he was even more rude after that as if I should have tipped for being talked down on. The following day I came in to pick up. The man who helped me was nice, but needed assistance in answering my questions so he would ask the other representatives around, and again, every time a representative would have to answer a question they would speak to me like I'm a full blown idiot and they couldn't believe they had to answer the question. I had intentions to shop around more to buy different accessories but decided to leave because I could tell they didn't want to spend their energy helping me. There were more specific actions that took place but I left those and the names out to protect them from getting in trouble even though I know this review will be blown off anyways. I'm not out to get anyone in trouble but I do believe this is a problem. A pet peeve of mine is to be educated in a topic, but rather than educating/helping others who want/need to learn, you insult them for not being as educated as you and or speak in a condescending tone. Honestly had it not been for them having exactly what I wanted, I would've much more enjoyed purchasing from RAC guns. The owners and employees are friendly and helpful and they enjoy teaching others on their products, helping customers make the right purchase. I don't want to seem like a Karen who complains over anything, but this was genuinely a bad experience that left me confused and upset for how I was served. But I like my new AR! read more

Great place. Drove two hours from Sacramento to shoot here for my birthday. More than worth it. We showed up, had to sign a waiver, and then went and checked in at the front desk. We had an hour wait, so we went and checked into our hotel a few minutes away. We came back and I choose an AR-15 to shoot, and we bought a hundred rounds. They brought it all to our stand and we got started shooting. They have a supervisor standing in the range with everyone who you can ask for help if you need. After we shot, we went back to the counter and I selected a full auto AK to shoot. It was $50 a magazine, but you get a free one if you come on the day of your birthday. When you shoot a full auto (at least in larger calibers), they have someone give you an introduction to the weapon and watch you from behind as you shoot it. They have a very large selection of pistols, quite a few AR-15's in .223, some AR-10's in 308. Also a very large selection of full autos. Gun rentals are cheap for semi autos, but the ammo will be the main charge, unless you shoot full autos. If you have a few hundred bucks to spare, I highly recommend coming here and having fun with the full autos. You can come here without having to spend a lot, though. Went here Thursday for the first time for Ladies Night. The guy at the counter wasn't even sure it was ladies night and had we not brought it up, we probably would have been charged full price. But ladies, go on Thursday evenings. You can't beat the price. The staff was nice, I met the owner and she's great. I came in to have my boyfriend try out a few guns he's been eyeing online to see which he liked best. His parents came along with his brother, and they all picked out guns to shoot. Overall the aesthetic of the range was nice. Great displays and incredibly clean, but after going into the range and watching my boyfriend shoot a few rounds, an employee came up to me and said "Smile!" This was rude and completely uncalled for, so I just didn't respond. When we went back out to switch a couple of the rentals and purchase more ammo, the man at the front counter, Don I believe, asked why I wasn't shooting. I told him about a friend of mine who had gotten shot at the Las Vegas shooting, and that it was a little weird for me. He understood and quickly told me about how a few instructors were there as well, and we exchanged apologies to each other. That was all fine and good and I appreciated that he understood and kept it short. I am pretty impartial to guns overall, and have gone shooting in the past -- my dad was a small arms weapons instructor in the Marine Corps, and has taught me how to shoot both rifles and handguns. But today was not my day to shoot. Once we were finished and returned our things, the first employee (the one who told me to "Smile!") came back up and asked me my name and age, and then proceeded to talk to me about how his daughter was at the Las Vegas shooting as well, and that it was obvious to him I was struggling immensely with the concept of guns and shooting, and that I needed to "talk to someone". I get that he was trying to be nice, but I was already off-put by his "Smile!" comment. I started to cry because I was angry with him and did not want to discuss that topic at a place I didn't know, with a person who was rude to me. I definitely did not feel it necessary for him to intervene with my personal life like that, and insist I needed to talk to someone. I am not traumatically affected by the unfortunate happenings of the shooting and would have shot if I was trying out a gun, but it simply wasn't a day for me. I don't think I'll ever be returning back to this facility due to the comments made towards me. I think that the staff should be more respectful towards women (other than Don, of course, he was excellent with us), and that they should keep lengthy discussions of such shooting events with people who have been or know people who experience them to a minimum. read more

This place is the new kid on the block for gun ranges in reno. I went here on a weekend and there was a 15 minute wait to get a lane. The range is new, bright and clean. It's a little bit more expensive than the other range, but it's a great place to take other people that want a nicer place to shoot. It has automatic target stands that go out to 25 yards. They have a bunch of different targets for sale as well as earmuffs and shooting glasses for you if you need them. They also have a bunch handguns, shotguns and rifles to rent. It's cool to be able to try out the more rare guns, but it's pretty annoying when the guy next to you is shooting a full auto rifle a foot away. I took this opportunity rent a sig p320 to test see if I want to buy one. I still haven't decided, but I do know I will come back to this range again. ~Bmo read more

I took a class called "Intro to Competitive Pistol Shooting " from Reno Guns and Range. I have to say that this was an absolutely amazing class, taught by Alex Arkhangelskiy. He started with basic gun safety, then demonstrated various competition pistols, went on to rules and scoring, fast draw and magazine changes on the run, staging, strategies, and finished with actual stage shooting. He helped me take several seconds off my timed score! I highly recommend this course, whether you intend to compete or just become familiar with potential real life scenarios. read more

Went for the first time with my bride and a friend of hers who is a firearms instructor and former police officer. All of the staff were friendly and professional. They explained the company rules an answered all our questions. The safety officer was attentive and was immediately responsive when we were not being safe. He was superbly professional. I noticed that the sales staff was patient and the one conversation I overheard was detailed and he responded completely to the customer's questions. I went on Friday and tried the FN SCAR 17 on full auto. I used the first magazine to try burst fire and a few single shots. I used the second magazine to let out a couple of long bursts to really get a feel for the full auto. The price was just right, not great for the value but not poor for the value either. The service was also satisfactory; very business-like, but not much enthusiasm (seemed a bit bored and barely spoke, even when I asked for clarification). read more

This is my first experience with indoor ranges in the Reno area. The fact that fee's are higher than Vegas and do not include a basic target was one blow. Limited bench space for bags and this was maxed due to party who took the entire tableThe idea of not being able to collect your brass is another. My guess is they collect the brass and resell to loaders like myself. Last this is from my experience it is difficult to assist your family in proper handling when in the same room and in this case next to us you are allowed to fire full auto. The noise cancellation headphones cease to protect at this point. I have been in other ranges where full auto weapons are handled in another room. We did not purchase any firearms or ammunition during this trip. The inside are was well maintained. I cannot write about their knowledge or variety of firearms. I am comparing this place to those I have visited in Las Vegas. read more

My first trip here was meh, at best. I was impressed by the facility, but had some punk range master. Guys like that could kill a business. I gave it a few more try's and it's been great. Good communication, great customer service, and you just feel comfortable. The place is clean, modern, good lighting, and offers a ton of things you don't see if you don't ask. The Range staff is amazing! They are super attentive and very well versed. I'd almost compare it to when John Wick goes in for his "Tasting" when you rent a firearm. I love shooting here. However I will not shop here at all. Not only is the retail department exorbitantly overpriced, but if you do find an item that is miss marked they flat refuse to come down on the price. I went to buy magazines for a pistol. I found several that I was interested in that we marked very competitively. However, when I took them to the counter they quoted me a price that was almost $30 more than marked and well over market value. I bought some ammo from the retail counter a few weeks back only to find the same brand and caliber elsewhere for about 25% the cost. The final was last week when I went to purchase a holster for a EDC pistol. I looked at several and made my choice. Again the price quoted was $25 more than the price marked. The kid at the counter (not his fault) refused to adjust the price even when I showed him that every other holster of that make and model was the lesser price. The manager whom I never saw even after asking to speak to him allowed the young man to take the brunt of my quarrel. When I asked one of the floor staff about the magazine's he said "yeah we know about it, but we haven't had time to do anything about it". If you can't consistently mark your merchandise... don't mark it. If you cannot mark it correctly and least have the fortitude to admit you made a mistake and honor the lower price the one time. Several items even had multiple stickers on them as if they had been playing dueling price guns. Retail should take head from range. Shoot there yes. Purchase there never. read more

Updating my review of my experienced friend of Reno Guns and Range. I also filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau which a FORMER friend in the law enforcement profession and a current employee of Reno Guns and Range had the audacity to try and sway me to remove this Yelp review. He set forth a document, to BBB, saying I was wrong and he was right and so was the business. He even put forth, in that response statement to BBB, that I was making outrageous allegations and further set forth some type of medical diagnosis on my mental well being without ANY medical foundation to make such outlandish statement!. And, In doing so, he represented Reno Guns and Range. I've lived in Nevada since 1974 and have spent most of that time in Reno. Don't use this business for any purposes please! Came to Reno to see Daniel Tosh at GSR. Flew in early and had some time to kill. Pulled out my trusty Yelp app and BOOM (literally) Reno Guns & Range was just across the highway from the hotel. Walked in, registered and signed the waiver. Stepped up to the counter and met Alex. Great dude, with tons of gun/shooting knowledge and excellent customer service skills. Being from California we are limited to the types of firearms that we can shoot. Told Alex what we were looking to do and he made the perfect recommendations for us. Had to pick a duty weapon but wasn't sure which model I preferred so I came to RGR to choose from three different models. I'm a minimal shooter in the fact I own a couple guns but I am not an expert by far. Eric was the range safety coordinator and took his time to help me practice my stance and holding technique to increase my accuracy. By the end Eric had me shooting center mass. Love this place. As a Californian, this shop is like being a kid in a candy store. Large selection of guns, ammo and gear. More rentals to choose than I could count. Handguns, rifles, shotguns and machine guns. This place is rad. I went with my two bother in laws and father my father in law to do a range day while we were in town. We brought our own guns and ammunition, although I couldn't help myself and I had to rent a fully decked out AK-47. On the machine gun rentals they charge by the magazine, either $35 or $45 a mag. Everything else is included except ear and eye protection, and targets. Safety gear is $5 bucks to rent and the targets were about $1.25 each. Also the range was advanced in the way of electronic target retrieval systems and nice lanes. My only real complaint and is that once we got in the range there wasn't much room to stand and virtually no room to put any of our guns and gear, like a table or desk to set things on. There are a few tables but of course with the range being absolutely packed on a Sunday afternoon, they were already being used by other patrons. Either way it was an awesome experience to shoot a full auto AK-47. What a blast. I highly recommend it. read more
