It's nice to shoot indoors in the winter... The range is nice. They care about your safety and your experience at the range.

I stopped by yesterday, looking to purchase a firearm. A Glock 29. I walked to the counter marked sales where two employees were standing. Neither said anything or looked at me. I'm 6'6" and was the only customer on the floor. Maybe they weren't sales people. I wondered the display cases for a while - new and consignment. Was also ignored by the guy at the rental counter. Maybe they knew they didn't have what I wanted but I'm not sure how they'd know since no one had engaged me. Owe well. Maybe it's a low pressure sales tactic, but a friendly "Hello, may I help you?" is still appropriate in any retail setting. 30 min later, I made my purchase at Sportsman's. read more

I recently took my girlfriend to Reno Guns &Range to look into purchasing her a weapon as I am a truck driver and am away at all different hours. We were not sure which one would be best for her. She has previously owned a 38 Special. We decided to purchase a new 9mm and a used 45cal . We were told the background check would be about 48 hours. Several days later we were notified that she had an issue and could not purchase the fire arms until it was straightened out. We have waited well over a week and have not been told what the issue is and we followed all the instructions given to us. When we requested a refund we were told that there is a 20% restocking fee. That is theft considering the weapons never left there location. We were told that is their policy. I would never recommend this business in any way. read more

This place is awesome! Super friendly and helpful from my very first inquiry. We had a private lesson for my 13 year old grandsons first shooting experience and our instructor (Mark) was amazing! All of the staff I encountered were SUPER helpful and knowledgeable! Whoever is teaching these guys customer service is doing it right! Reno Guns refused to honor the warranty on a recently purchased hand gun! When the Crimson Trace sight that was factory installed on my Ruger LCP failed they told me to take care of it myself as it was too much trouble for them. When I suggested that I replace the gun, the salesman did get interested in making a sale. I took the gun to Mark Fore and Strike where Todd honored the warranty; sent the sight to the manufacturer and had it back in working order in just two weeks. Considering that I bought this gun from Reno Guns and Range, Todd at Mark Fore went above and beyond to provide good service. I can only conclude that the people at Reno Guns are more ambitious on the front end than concerned with giving the quality of service that will insure remaining in business. We decided to go shooting with our two new guns and saw this place had just opened up so decided to try it out. My sister wanted to go with us, she had never shot a gun before or even been around a gun being shot. Upon entering the gun range she became anxious and uncomfortable. The staff immediately picked up on her emotions and had one of the instructors take her into the digital shooting range and gave her a personal lesson on how to properly shoot a gun without having a fear of the firearm. He gave her a personal lesson FREE! She returned to the range with us and not only was she completely comfortable shooting our guns but she was hitting the targets SPOT ON! I am a senior citizen and when I attempted to sign in to use the Reno Gun Range , I was told to sign in--on the computer in front of the range reception desk. When I explained that I could not use the computer because I had never learned to use one , the clerk shrugged his shoulders in disbelief ! He did , however , help me do the first page and then left me to "sink or swim" with the many other pages ! Needless to say , I sank ! Unable to use the computer I was forced to leave and never did get to shoot my gun ! Super nasty clerk , super nasty environment , and very prejudicial against senior citizens that are not technically trained ! ! Why not allow a regular registration using written communication ---OR--- help the old people use the computer such that they too may use your facilities ? Surprising. Having been to several dozen ranges across the US, this may be the best I've ever encountered. Just like everyone says: - Clean, modern, well-ventilated, sound-proofed - Professional, friendly - Safety officer is former LE - Huge selection of rentals and arms for purchase - Plenty of parking - Affordable ammunition - Good selection of paper targets - A little pricey to shoot, but worth it given the quality of the range If I owned an indoor range, I'd want it to be like this. read more

This place is awesome! Great firing lanes, great technology and great guns to rent if that's your thing. They're also doing a great thing and allowing Law Enforcement personnel to practice and get better by discounting lane fees. The technology at each lane is great, you have a touch pad that automatically puts the target at the distance you want and you can bring it back to you to see hits whenever. The target selections available are great too and the staff was too notch. I will definitely be coming back and would recommend this place to anyone. I would actually go so far as to say this is easily the best range in Reno. read more

I took a class at Reno Guns & Range (RGR) and it was A+! Instructor Jay was super professional and brings the kind of expert experience you want, being both a long time former Peace Officer and Military Veteran. During my class, in addition to great instruction and training, I got to try both the State of the Art simulator and the actual shooting range. The simulator was awesome and RGR also has the technology here (force on force - I haven't done this portion yet) to help you understand as close to a real-world scenario as you can get. I respect this type of education because it truly is all that matters. You can be a perfect shot on a target and then you are in a situation, everything changes, including your fine motor skills, thinking, heart rate, adrenaline, etc. The simulator was awesome it felt very real with actual clips with sim bullets and recoil thanks to compressed air. They set up a scenario where I felt what it feels like to a make split second life or death decisions based on limited and conflicting information, very cool and educational! Overall, super happy with my class and training; and I would recommend this class and facility 100%! There's some craziness going on the in the world, even in the Reno shadows, so get a plan (training on multiple levels) and be ready as possible should that ambush you (Slight Paraphrase from Instructor Jay). Lastly, found out they want to make sure women feel comfortable here, so that has been a big part of the set up and focus to encourage those who might be intimidated in the past to feel welcome. read more

I took a CCW renewal class on the weekend. Excellent! One of a variety of classes offered by Reno Guns and Range. I have shot there several times and found it well-staffed and well-stocked. Even though I am from out of town, I appreciate the facility so much that I purchased a ten-visit card that provides a slightly lower range cost. The employees demonstrated knowledge, a professional demeanor and a helping attitude. The ranges are clean, equiped with electronic and electrically-oerated targets, and feature a range-master, (at least one) on the range with shooters at all times. When I go to Reno, I make it an emphasis to shoot at this very clean, very-friendly place. Depending on the day and time, one may have to wait, the wait being worth the time, but on other occasions, acquiring a lane is not a problem. read more

This is hands down the nicest range I have been to in a long time. The staff is as knowledgeable as they come and also just as helpful. I am currently slightly incapacitated (blew out my miniscis/knee). They opened all the doors for me, helped me to the range, and gave me some pointers to compensate for my injury. Went in today, with a reservation. The people at the counter were very helpful, however Calvin was extremely rude. I understand gun safety and each gun range has their set of rules, however Calvin really needs to reevaluate his position and brush up on his customer service skills. He spoke as if we didn't know what we were doing, my husband and I have been shooting guns since we were little. He made us feel extremely uncomfortable. He definitely needs to learn how to treat people with respect. We won't be returning. read more

Great set-up for first times gun owners. A little expensive to be honest though. Actually very expensive. I was charged an extra $19.00 just to walk in the range to show my mom how to shoot. Reno Guns and Range is a great facility. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. I've been to other gun shops and been treated like a child. I was happy to see that this is not the case here, I was met with kind and helpful employees. I recently took a self defense course here and I feel it was invaluable. I walked away from the class with a whole new respect for my safety. The hands on training is great and the staff is by your side the entire time to ensure you nail the fundamentals and hone your skills, all without making you feel cramped or inferior for not knowing something or asking questions. Went to check out this place as I had seen it advertised online. I ended up buying a membership and the shooting experience was awesome!!! Their membership features many discounts on ammo, new gun purchases, and even two free rentals!!! This range is state of the art and the staff is very helpful. The bays feature an electronic touchpad that allows the shooter to set their target at the exact distance they want to shoot at. The 9mm ammo was cheaper for a box of 50 than I have been able to find in store but they do allow you to bring your own ammo to shoot as well. They have a wide selection of guns for sale that were competitively priced based on what I have seen at other gun shops. Also carried a wide variety of accessories and my girlfriend even found a concealed carry purse she liked which is saying something as she has been looking for a concealed purse for a long time!!! The only problem that I encountered was when I first went into the bay and shot. I had asked at the front desk if I needed to unload my gun since I have a permit to carry concealed and was carrying concealed at the time but was I didn't need to. When I got to my assigned bay the safety instructor seemed confused when I told him that was carrying concealed. He stated that I needed to remove and unload my gun before going into the range area. However when talking with another safety officer he said that you are allowed to both open carry and concealed carry while walking into and out of the shooting area. I will make sure I ask again prior as I may have misunderstood what he was saying. All in all I'm glad that I purchased a membership here and look forwards to spending more time shooting here as my experience has been great!!! read more

Note: This review is about a safety course for kids. I was looking for a place to take my kids (10 & 7) for a firearm safety/introduction class. I never fired a gun or had any sort of training until I was in the military and I wanted to expose them properly to guns while they were younger so they know the protocol. I was so impressed I have taken them through twice. The instructors are knowledgeable and have years (I think over a century) of combined training. More than that they spoke with the kids not just at them. Incredible amount of patience and also made sure the parents were comfortable as well. There is class time (a couple hours) first. They engage the kids in the lessons and do a wonderful job emphasizing safety. More than that they go over types of guns, what firearms are used for, and more. You also get two hours of range time in the "private party" or "executive suite" range (or something like that, it's the lanes furthest from the public side). The kids get to shoot a rifle (10/22), and a pistol (22lr). For those unaware of what that means it's the caliber of bullet. Really small and quiet. Very little kick. And on the pistols (most anyway) they have suppressors (silencers). Makes them even quieter. After the first two rounds the kids picked their favorite and did one more round with that. Bottom line is that it was fun and educational. And my kids want to go to the range now they enjoy it. read more

I stopped in on a week day to shoot with a buddy. I got there first and I had never been there. I am from the south end of town and I shoot down south. Anyways, I go in and start looking around. In there for a good 10 minutes (let's even say 5 to play it safe and keep it honest) nobody made contact with me. Plenty of people standing around too. Well, finally a guy named Colton offered help. (This is why you get 2 stars. Colton was great!) he offered advice and assistance. Soon my buddy was on site and ready to shoot. First we stand at the register While they all stand off to the side talking. Finally they say oh you want to use the range? Have you filled out the new paperwork? No. I haven't. This is my first time here. "Okay well start with filling that out" perfect no sweat! Can I get the paper? "Uh? It's back there and points". No biggy. I can fill it out. My buddy on the other hand just doesn't use technology. No assistance no offering anything! Well then we get over there to get set up. They were friendly somewhat. I don't expect nothing much aside from okay service. At this point the service was okay at best but that's if I put everything else behind me. Finally get everything and they say okay you're all set. Okay nice! I see it's to the right.. do I need to put this magnet anywhere like what do I do? Oh I don't know yet so I walk over and start to figure it out. Oh gotcha one door has to be closed for the next to open. Makes sense, right? Okay could have if they told us, or! A sign? We got it though. No biggy. Get in start to get things set up and this guy in a "safety" vest just comes over all rude and absolutely frank and in my opinion with an attitude. Gives us a few tips but with an attitude. Okay great. Whatever I just want to shoot. Continuous attitude the entire time. Buddy wanted to shoot my weapon so naturally we ask how they want it handled and apparently it just has to be common sense because he was clearly annoyed. I won't be back. Unless they want to give me 100 rounds back and another whack at trying to gain my business as I shoot a lot. My profession requires I carry and my life depends on my weapons. But if you do go there make sure you get in touch with Colton! He was a great guy. Pretty bummed. My buddy who swears by that place is on the fence. We even skipped shooting when my place was full because I wouldn't want to give that place anymore money than I already have! read more

Very good facilities and staff who are knowledgeable and professional. Top notch gun range which is modern and clean. The only recommendation is to have machine gun packages similar to Battlefield Vegas as it will be very expensive here. For one 28 round magazine, it costs out the door $87.56 which includes eye, ear protection, one target, lane fee, and gun rental. Battlefield Vegas had a Black Ops package which had four different machine guns with four 25 round magazines for a grand total of $81.92. Would have spent more on magazines and guns but because of their pricing model, would only afford one magazine so you can do the math with four shooters with only one magazine each. Great and awesome place, just make it a bit more affordable for the 10 minutes you shoot a machine gun. read more

Great place for inexperienced and experienced shooters. Staff here knows their stuff and they are very helpful when you have any questions. Came here with a birthday girl and they gave her a chance to shoot a fully automatic rifle for her birthday. They have a wide variety of handguns, ARs, and shot guns. My first time visiting Reno Guns and Range. I went there for a CCW class but when I walked in the front door I was blown away by how huge and well stocked this place is. The selection of firearms is absolutely insane. If you don't find what you're looking for here you won't find it. The shooting supplies, ammunition and accessories is endless. Such a nice and professional staff as well. And a clean and well organized business. So I took the two day class with one of their instructors, Derek. The class kept my attention, I've always hated classroom settings. It was really educational and I learned things I had never even thought of. Derek is a great instructor. Those 2 days of 4 hour classes went by so fast I found myself not wanting it to end. The range is state of the art. We had to qualify to pass the class which consisted of 3 different target distances and a total of 30 rounds fired. Again Derek did a fantastic job of getting all 19 of us through that part of the class. I will definitely use this place for all of my shooting range and guns and accessory needs. The gunsmith charge for replacing the safety on my Mossberg shotgun (and I supplied the replacement safety) was $50.00, to essentially remove a specialized screw. The receipt indicated two units which I suppose is $25.00 per unit of time? The range is nice but on two recent occasions I elected to leave in lieu of standing in line waiting to be processed in, while it appeared plenty of staff were available but busy doing other things. I usually go on weekdays now, when it is less crowded. I have to admit though I am an inpatient guy. read more

I spoke to the person answering your phones. Incompetent lady behind the counter who knew nothing about firearms. I thought I'd give it a try, Sunday afternoon, I figured it might be a little busy but I had two hours so was willing to wait some. I'd never been but had read their website, memberships avail, with which it is possible to reserve lanes, etc. As it turns out, I was in luck, there was nobody in line. They took my Drivers license and credit card but advised that they didn't have a lane available; I have to wait. The waiting area is nice, close to the lanes where you can see thru the glass windows at the lanes. As I stood there I noticed that there were actually one of the ten lanes without a shooter, so one lane was actually open. I figured it must have been reserved. Then another opened, but other shooters arrived. Like I said nice waiting area, TV sets with the NFL on and everything. I watched most all of half time and the entire third quarter! Many others came and went, for over an hour... as it turns out, I ran out of time! Never fired a shot! Two trips to Reno, Gun and Range, my first and last, and never fired a single shot! read more

While vacationing in Reno, we stopped by Reno Guns & Range. Being from NYC. This is our second time in like 8 years to a range so it's safe to say we had no idea what we were doing. Drew was very helpful in helping us select the guns. My fiancé chose the AR-15 and I chose 2 glocks. Daryl was extremely helpful and patient with us because we had no idea what we were doing. We didn't know how to load it and he helped us with each gun and showed us the proper way of handling each one. I'd highly recommend this range for anyone especially beginners like us! I went there with some friends and they were so helpful and caring to the few that were new in the sport. The staff was very knowledgeable and aware of someone not having any training. One of the guys on the range monitoring the shooters caught someone holding the Semi-auto with the thumb behind the slide and rushed over to make sure they gripped the handgun right to avoid slide injury.
