If you are following, you know I visited all 3 locations this week! Guess I am a loyal customer. Quality/Quantity - Got a new pair of running/walking shoes a few days ago at their other location. And believe it or not, they had another pair in my size at their Lakeside location! I did not buy it as I want to break the first pair in. I also saw the one I am replacing there, lol. If you are following, you already know I have been shopping for a new pair of Hoka shoes. And I finally found a place that had what I needed and wanted. They actually had my size! Thank you. I did not know Hoka also made slippers...? Might have to get one in the future also. My wife also got a pair of shoes the other day and put another pair on hold in this Sparks location. This location is smaller than the one we visited in South Reno, but larger than the Lakeside location, but still has a decent selection of high end good quality shoes for running and walking. Atmosphere - Clean and well organized. Obviously supports the running community, see all the pictures. Open 6 days a week from 10am to 5pm or 6pm. Closed Sundays. Water fountain station. Service - Only one person was working today. He did a great job with the two other ladies he was helping and helping my wife in between. And an amazingly hard worker. They are also willing to order for you if needed. And match prices if needed.. Price - $130. It pays to pay for quality. This was my first time in the Sparks location. I had frequented the Reno location as it use to be the only location. This one is closer to my house. I went in on 10/4/2023 with my mom and we were looking for good supportive shoes. My ortho doctor recommended coming here for said shoes. Leland and John were the ones in store today, so my mom and I each got a one on one experience. John helped me and he was super patient and listened to my requests and preferences for shoes. I ended up walking out with a pair of Brooks and Hokas, as I couldn't decided between the two which I liked better. My mom found a pair that she liked, but the Sparks store did not have her size. So Leland called the Reno location and placed her size on hold so we could go pick it up in person. Would definitely recommend Reno Running company and will continue to come back to them for solid shoes. read more

My massage therapist recommended I come here to get fitted for a pair of orthopedic inserts since I had been complains about back pain after standing for work all day. I came in and was immediately helped in getting fitted for the right pair for me. The staff was extremely helpful and knowledgeable and I felt good knowing that I was being taken care of competently. We tried on several pairs before deciding on the one and he even gave me some helpful tips on other things I could do to relieve my back pain. The inserts were surprisingly affordable and I truly thing we found the perfect fit. read more

I don't often leave a 1-star review, but when I do it's due to the fact that I a.) didn't receive any support or assistance in my experience at the Sparks store and b.) left feeling like a total POS fat loser. I guess I didn't look like runner material enough to be helped or taken seriously, as there was only 1 customer in the store, just now, and at least two staff members. Not one offered to help me. I was willing to pay their inflated prices, as I went in expecting some professional advise/assistance on what would be adequate for my stride. I didn't even get a hello, be with you in a second, or a goodbye, thanks for stopping in. Nada. So, now I feel like shit, spent zero dollars and my feet are still without good support. I made the huge mistake of buying some inexpensive running shoes on Amazon and as a result my feet where killing me! I didn't even want to walk they were that horrible. My gym had fliers for Reno Running Company, and I overheard people talking positively about them at the gym. I have difficult feet to buy for: very wide toe box, narrow heel, high arches, and supination. I have always had issues with purchasing shoes. Normally, I try on 25 pairs of shoes and an hour later walk out with 'Just OK, it's the best they got shoes". Walking in I didn't have too much expectation. However, the young man who assisted me was extremely helpful! He listened to my foot descriptions and concerns and brought out three shoe types. 6 shoes fittings later, I found the 2 shoes I wanted - nay the 2 shoes that I loved! I love these shoes so much! One of the shoes I selected I would have never picked - a Hoka One One, it looks bulky and heavy, but it is so light weight and comfortable. I only tried it on because the young man assisting me strongly suggested it. I now think that Hoka's are my favorite shoes brand. Only mentioning this to illustrate that they know their shoes, they know what type of shoes work for different foot issues and they really seemed to care / educate you why one shoe would be better than another, unlike so many shoe stores that I have been to in the past. Also, while I know my gait issues already, they will also provide their customers with a gait analysis to best find the shoe that best fits. Lastly, you can create an account with them - so 2 years from now when I need more shoes, they can pull up what I've purchased in the past and make future shopping much easier. They also will take old shoes and donate them to a charity. Totally recommend them. I'm official a customer for life. read more

Then he took extra time to find a way to order in the color I wanted too. Joseph helped me find my last pair of shoes last year as well and it was also a great experience. A. This is the only store I've found anywhere the Sacramento to Reno area that sells Xero shoes (except fo REI who carries Xero sandals). B. Joseph who works there is a wealth of knowledge and experience in the minimalist footwear realm, as well as foot functionality and health. I'm guessing he knows lots of other footwear, too, but the minimalist shoes is all we talked about. I'm super glad this store and Joseph are there. read more

As we entered the gentleman working wasn't bothered to even turn around and help us or even acknowledge us entering the store. The older gentleman turned around after we finished looking and says someone else will be with you in few. We immediately walked out of their establishment as they were to good to serve us. Needless to say they lost 2 customer and two sales. The owner of the facility reached out in a public message listed below: But to not even Acknowledge when a potential customer simply enters the facility, as if we were an inconvenience in general. That's uncalled for, as they only had one other customer where they were just BS'ing and not about the shoes. We felt as though the gentleman working could careless about his customer service skills, as he looked at us like a waste of time. I had a fantastic experience! I went in Sunday afternoon and man was it busy! Although it was busy, I was helped in a very timely manner by Andrew and given attention. I knew what I had wanted yet still got my feet measured and arches looked at. I went into Reno Running company because my Doctor wanted me to get a pair of Hoka One One after I had surgery on my foot. I was greeted by a very friendly sales associate by the name of Matt that I later found out was the owner. I explained what I needed and he very helpful brining out multiple pairs of shoes of different styles that would fit my needs. I picked out the style I wanted but they didn't have the color or size I needed. He opted to order them from the company for me and 5 days later they arrived at my house. Great selection with knowledgeable staff and they have a free runners analysis to determine the best type of shoe for your running stride. Every weekend they have scheduled group runs for all abilities that start from the store. They give you a map and provide a morning snack afterwards. I went into this store fully prepared to buy a pair of Hoka shoes in the $200 range. While I no longer run, I ran daily the 20 years I was in the military. But now I do walk and/or hike daily. I'm knowledgeable about my own feet; unlike most people I supinate rather than pronate. And I'm fairly knowledgeable about shoes; when I was running daily I wore Sauconys and occasionally Brooks. But I was interested in purchasing the Hoka Bondi 8 and wanted to learn more about it, try them on, and purchase a pair. When I went into the store, one person was helping a woman who had at least 4 or 5 pairs of shoes out. There were no other customer. I was fine with waiting until he was done. But then someone else came out and asked if I needed help. He started out really explaining to me the aspects of the shoe. Then the phone rang and he said he needed to get the phone. I understand that; the other person was still waiting on the person who had all the shoes out. But just as the the call ended another person walked in and said "all I need is . . ." and I was forgotten. I wandered around waiting a few minutes and then left. I can order the shoes online for a better price and a 10% discount. I buy several pairs of good performance shoes every year, but even though this place is walking distance from me, I won't be back and won't recommend them. read more

I have always bought my running shoes from this store but have had some foot issues recently and thought that by going here to find the perfect shoe for my running needs but was very disappointed. I tried Several shoes and the staff were helpful the first few times I visited the store after purchasing a pair shoes and them causing pain I go and return them and the gentleman working that day basically tells me it's my foot problem and doesn't offer to show me any other type of shoes or alternatives. My wife and I decided to visit Reno, all the way from Southern Illinois. Prior to our trip, I had read about this store so I told her that I would like to visit this store on our way to Virginia City. On 9/7/18, we stopped in and not only did I walk out with a pair of Salomon running shoes, but I probably spent more time than I should've since I really enjoyed speaking to the young man who helped me out. Frankly, I was surprised he had heard about the Tunnel Hill 100 race which takes place approximately 10 miles from my house every November. He also went as far as inviting me to run in there upcoming Sunday Store Run. Had I been in town (we flew out on Sunday morning), rest assured I would've taken him up on his offer. Having said all of that, if we plan on another trip to Reno, rest assured that I will be stopping in since not only do they have a great selection of running shoes at competitive prices, but they also provide great customer service.
