With the lousy snow conditions, and all the ice we had, the wax was almost gone. I had a great powder day at Kirkwood and I could tell it was riding a little slow. I stopped in to see if they could do a quick wax for me since I was heading out again in a couple of days. I was able to get a level 1 wax on the spot and was out the door in less than five minutes. I am happy to give my support to a local shop that takes care of their clientele.

But for the value, it's definitely worth it. My daughter got new skis and boots last season and the staff were very helpful. There is a buy back program that gives you discounts on the next set, which I haven't used but will likely have to this season.

I also added a pair of Solomon bindings (20% off), with a future discounted boot purchase somewhere on the horizon. When that's done, I'll bring them all back for Moment staff to mount the bindings and adjust the settings. That part and how they ski for me next season may be the subject of a future update. Last season was my first in over 25 years. I enjoyed myself enough at Heavenly (the Boulder parking lot is 20 minutes from my house in Genoa) that I figured that I could financially do better with my own equipment rather than rentals. Of course, I lot has changed equipment-wise in all that time, and I appreciated the friendly and patient Moment staff giving me concise sizing and model advice that I could use and trust immediately. When I arrived just before 10 AM, there was already a line into the demo tent, including folks who were here a lot earlier. After maybe a 20 minute wait, I arrived with previously obtained model and size information (via email and inside) written down. The guy helping me had a couple options, and after weighing the features, I made my choice. As a Senior Intermediate skier (think groomed blue), I'm sure I was outclassed by many of the downhillers here, but Moment staff quickly put me at ease. The background music, plus free foot longs, chips, and sparking water was a nice bonus.

During the assessment process I was actually able to describe my technique improvement goals to Reid and he translated them to modifications that needed to be done to my boots. There was absolutely no marketing hype, just very personalized recommendations based on deep technical understanding of different skiing techniques. Highly recommend, especially for racers, ski instructors, and other people looking for continuous improvement.

I also found out about Fifty's Grand opening at RPM, which we also supported and attended the next day, see other Yelp Review. Non alcoholic drinks were also available. Too lazy to have brought our equipment for the wax. Plus Mt Rose gives us each 4 free waxes that I rarely use up. Raffle - We did NOT win. Atmosphere - Clean and organized location. Love the NV art on the side of the building/in the parking lot. Cool! See pictures. Open 7 days a week from 10am to 7pm and on Sundays from 10am to 6pm. Small parking lot, but because we came in off peak (weird) hours, it is rarely an issue for us. And today we got lucky as the lot was full but a car gave us his space. You could easily spend a couple of hours here even if you're not shopping. Don't miss the cafeteria if you get hungry. They offer free samples of their delicious homemade fudge, making it hard to leave without buying a piece or two! When it comes to shopping, they truly have something for everyone. While not nearly as impressive as the Bass Pros headquarters store in Springfield MO, for those in Reno locals/visitors, it's worth a visit just to see the place, especially when super cold or hot out. Liberal's (REI folk) might find some of the stuff amusing (the premium gun collection and the huge safe assortment come to mind.) I'd give about 30 minutes to wander around. Longer if you actually want to shop or actually do some of the activities.

I got exactly what I needed for what I felt was a fair price. I especially appreciated the hours of operation. I was able to go by after work. I'm a frequent shopper.. Purchased some Hoka's back in November- but one side started ripping - so I returned and purchased another On shoes.. Surprisingly they did not fit.. (yet I have four pairs that are the same size and fit).. go figure- Returned them and started browsing in store.. Just my luck- found a nice On pair- I like these because it's really not messy on the upper.. Noticed an email on the Rei app about the new On Cloudsurfer 2 trail running-.. Wow- those are ones I just got..! Comfy and decided to wear them today..

Plenty of private parking. Service - Mostly self service. The shoe salesperson, the only person helping 10 people, did a good job. There were 4 people working in the bike area, and no one acknowledged me?!?! And these bikes go for like $7k. I am not sure I want an e-bike yet; I just want to stay as young and long as possible. Need snowshoes. Easy peasy. Need chains for your sports car so you can hit the slopes on a perfect Blubird day? They got you!!! Heck, they'll even do a quick tune of your skis so you can fully enjoy your day. I have never been snowshoeing. When we showed up the guys engaged in a great conversation. They asked us where we were going. We let them know it was our first time and they gave us directions. They even gave us birdseed to feed the chickadees! The entire process took about 5 minutes. And you can't beat the price! We came in, I filled out a form, paid and we left. Super quick, super easy. I didn't have any questions as I had done my research on snowshoeing.
