The whole process was horrible, from time to get it done the guy who started on the floors didn't put the washer back and had a second mini flood. He said don't worry the boards will be fine but they have water boarded and he did a horrible install of the floors and we never had someone come down to inspect the floor to Mae sure it met expectations two years ago and the quality of the floors just keep getting worse and worse. read more

TLDR: Ran away with our funds. Don't write reviews much but just need to add to the volume of evidence against these guys. Started a job. They hired some subcons to do some work. I was happy enough with some progress so ordered a big change order. Was asked to pay full price up front (realise in hindsight that was stupid). Paid the funds. Lots of excuses and always told "we'll be done in 2 weeks". They pulled at my heartstrings with various hospital visits and a slow escalation of the excuses. Now I'm many tens of thousands out of pocket. My lawyer tried to serve them but they have stopped renting the address on their website. If my experience and cost can save a few people from that headache then that will be the silver lining. If you want a contractor that actually executes, ping me. How I wish I would have done my research before hiring this company. Their BBB accreditation has been revoked and there is a long list of 1 star reviews. It is insane that they are able to continue to operate. Their MO is to be very communicative and responsive at the beginning or when they are asking for money, and then take your money and not complete the work or deliver materials that you have paid for. Do not, under any circumstances engage with this company. They took my money and did not complete work or deliver the doors and paint I paid for. I'm out $10k. Clearly, this is a lie! This scam artist signed a separate contract that had nothing to do with the work mentioned and took $34,616.54 from us for supplies that he never purchased. It is not a matter of supply/chain issues; you know that, Becky. In addition to fake checks, your office provided bogus window companies as well. A formal letter has been sent to John via email and certified mail demanding that he return our funds. For several months, there has been no response or update. This is theft on the part of John Wasley and his company. The authorities are involved, and we will prosecute any member of John Wasley's company who knowingly takes part in this fraud. After using the new (beautiful!) shower, we noticed the tiling on the floor was pretty uneven, a few spots were left with cracked tiles that had sharp edges, and the grout was nowhere near enough to fill the gap between the floor tiles. I communicated this to John, with photos, and he came out right away to assess the repairs. They promised to make things right, and scheduled us for the following Thursday. They didn't show up, promised to show up the next day, and I called them off because if they started working on Friday, our bathroom would be out of commission for an entire weekend again. So, rescheduled for Tuesday of the next week. I confirmed on Monday that they'd be there between 9-10am the next day. Tuesday came and went and yet again...they didn't show up. I totally understand scheduling challenges, and like to think I'm a forgiving person, but they also didn't show up one of the days they were scheduled to work during the initial project, and the lack of communication is extremely frustrating to me. We will live with the uneven tiling and fix the grout ourselves. All in all, John and his crew do great work, it's just so hard to get them to show up when they say they'll be there. read more

We started construction on 6/2022 and it took about 4 months to completely ruin everything they touched. After many interactions with no updates on over 20 outstanding items and them pressuring me to pay in order to get things fixed or updates on progress, they proceeded to f-up all my electrical, support of my second floor and installed cabinets-of which each of them were cracked. In addition, they did not add any supporting beams to support the cabinets. They were installed by drilling into my Sheetrock totally unattached to anything. The custom LVL beam was not attached correctly, leaving me with $10k+ of repairs to fix this and to rerun our electrical -which had been installed and circuits were already shorted at install. They did not isolate outlets for major appliances and these all had to be rewired correctly (another $1800). Old outlets were not deactivated or covered up, these and the junket box were shoved into my ceiling and covered with Sheetrock. Totally against code. New electrician stated, "wow, they did not have any regard for your safety-this could have burned your house down". In addition, I have pets and asked them to cover up any live wires. One was uncovered-I thought it has been deactivated but I graced it with my leg and was shocked. Due to my second floor being unsupported for 4 months, the new contractor had to bring in a JACK to push my ceiling back up so the second floor doors would close in 2 rooms. They measured things wrong, ordered the wrong size cabinets. You get the picture. They absolutely have no regard for safety and are completely incompetent. Not one thing was done correctly. They did not even give me any design to approve. I had to get them from the cabinet place and they ordered the wrong ones anyway. Owner never came onsite. They say he was supposed to show up to review all the issues and give them the opportunity to respond, John no showed and had his assistant call to cancel after the arrival time. We fired them immediately. Do not recommend. And John, before you reach out to me about my review, you can refund my $4300 and add $13k to cover repairs needed after your incompetent staff (Gilbert, etc. ) left my kitchen worse shape than we started with. Extremely disappointing experience working with Renovate in Texas. Let me start by saying I understand that there are industry shortages and supply issues when it comes to construction, but the immense lack of communications and respect for my time by Renovate in Texas was completely unprofessional and rude. And I will not be recommending them to anyone. Here are some more detailed notes on my experience: Was told that project would be finished by end of October 2021. Project was actually completed in February 2022. 4 MO after the date i was told. Had brand new cabinets installed and immediately noticed multiple scuffs and dings before ever using. Within one day we had one cabinet shelf fall off, and multiple other shelves being pulled from the wall - so much that the nails/screws were fully showing. When i asked Renovate in Texas to fix these issues the only thing they did was paint over the scuffs and paint over the visible nails from the cabinet shelves being pulled out of the wall. So the issue is still there, its now just painted. I asked Renovate in Texas to provide me with Microwave dimensions since I wanted to get a new microwave with the new kitchen. I was told the dimensions from the office manager Becky, which she had confirmed with John. The dimensions turned out to be completely wrong so I had to purchase another microwave, when I shared this with John he let me know that the mistake was mine and that I must have not understood. When i showed him the email where I was told those dimensions he informed me "this never happens"- an extreme lack of customer service. After a lot of back and forth John did offer to buy a Microwave for the trouble caused. Throughout the job I reached out multiple times via phone, email, text. I would schedule calls with John and clear my schedule for the call, and then he would just never call. And then I would either not hear from him or be told "something came up." Renovate in Texas did a great job on my garage. I hired them to do a project that few contractors would agree to, and they delivered on all promises. Becky was always 100% helpful and responsive, and Alfredo did an excellent job leading the contractor team. We had some issues come up here and there, but they were all resolved promptly. Only negative was communication. At times it was difficult, but I was always eventually able to get what I needed. There was also an issue where my weep holes were mortared over. Again, the team was helpful but it could have been fixed with better communication. Overall, their price was cheaper than anyone else, and they delivered on every promise. I had great hopes that John and his crew would do a good job on building my art studio, since they had done a decent job on an interior stairway. Unfortunately what should have been completed in 3 weeks in nov2020 including plumbing and electrical was never finished by feb 2021! John gave excuses until he stopped answering calls and texts. We needed a concrete slab poured for our above ground pool and electrical for the pump and storage shed and we picked the right contractor. Even though there was a couple of delays with the concrete, John and his crew worked quickly to get this portion of our project done in time for the pool install. The electrician was very knowledgeable and professional. The concrete team was solid- heh. Seriously, these guys did a great job making sure we had a strong, level slab that is pool-ready. Also Miracle provided excellent customer support. I will keep them in mind for our future projects! read more

Really pleased with my patio/pergola - yes it's a combination with the best parts of both! :) I went with 8x8 cedar columns with a cedar tongue and grove ceiling including can lights and 2 fans. My patio is lovely now, and I enjoy spending time out there now! I highly recommend Renovate in Texas, John Wasley is a true professional and makes sure the job is done to the customer's satisfaction. I'm pretty particular and this patio/pergola is perfect! We must constantly check in on and personally monitor the work being done on our home to ensure completeness and quality. I cannot imagine what it must be like to have any work done by this company if you do not work from home or have immense flexibility in your availability. This company is so poorly managed! It took me two weeks to get someone to schedule a visit. After hours they text me to reschedule the appointment for the very next day! I shared I was unable to reschedule so they came out. Then I don't hear from for a week- I then call and text for two weeks with only receiving someone on the other end of the line making false promises to have a project manager or manager to call me back . No one EVER called back! STILL. Apparently they do not want our business. Glad we did not move forward with this piss poor company. They built a fantastic 2nd story deck for me! I had a deck overhang that was put in by previous owners, literally. I'd always thought that it would be amazing if it were replaced with a deck, and finances aligned. John was cordial, professional, and extremely responsive, and ran the show with great precision! What to expect (give or take a day for rain delays): They've done this before - a lot! About 2 weeks to start, the old overhang was gone day 1. Day 2 - the frame was complete, and they hauled the old material away. Day 3 & 4 - u-joints, glued and hammered in 3/4 inch plywood to fit. Day 5 - put a door in where there once was a window. Day 6 & 7 - they sand down the edges of the plywood to flatten things out, then install the Intellideck surface, drip edge, and flashing against the house. Day 8 put the railing up, trim the door and paint. Day 10 tighten things up to meet my specifications, and haul away leftover refuse pile. read more

I hired this company to do various work items in the house - flooring, countertop, new rangehood, fireplace tiles etc. They did a good job finishing all the work with quality. I would like to give a shout out to Becky who have been pretty awesome throughout the process and stepped in to handle the scheduling and communication whoever there was any issue. This review would have been five stars; however our project was elongated in time because of what I assume was a heavy workload on their end. It was a horrible experience overall and I don't recommend this company. John Wasley and Renovate in Texas lied to us! They didn't start nor did they even obviously finish the job. We paid their company almost $2,000.00 for the deposit regarding the screened in porch but John nor his company ever started the job. We hired for a bathroom remodel project with both of our bathrooms. The quote seemed fair based on prior renovations we had done and they were able to begin the work quickly. The work was okay until it came to tiling. It doesn't seem like there was any effort made to level the flooring prior to tile installation beginning. Our house is built in the 90s and nothing is square, plumb or level. I would have expected them to take note of this before beginning tile work and level the surfaces because bare minimum expectation of tile work is that it would be flat. Despite using tile spacers the grout lines were crooked and of varying widths and there was unacceptable lippage at the corners. In the shower, there were tiles that were obviously cut crooked and sticking out above the Schluter edge. There were parts where you could tell the thin set had oozed out and wasn't wiped away before it dried so it poked out from the grout. The tile job was done poorly to the point that I made them redo the particularly terrible portions. To their credit, they didn't push back when I asked for the tile to be redone. They completely changed the crew and attempted to make things right. They assigned their Master tiler to fix the tiles. It's better but definitely not great. I give them 3 stars because they tried to make it right. Other little things - paint drips and grout was everywhere, dust/dirt/tile debris everywhere. Obviously these kinds of projects are messy but not a lot of attempt on their end to clean up at the end of the day. They also didn't do a good job wiping the tiles clean after grouting so we are still wiping away grout. Light switch plates weren't removed when they painted so paint is all over. They are not cheap switch plates either because they have led nightlights lights built in. Messy caulking job. End of the day I wouldn't hire them if your project involves tile. I don't feel like the quality of work was up to par based on price. read more
