My 25-year-old wooden deck was sadly sagging, despite my efforts five years ago to replace the worst of the support joists and to update flooring with modern composite boards. Other bidders offered to replace a few more joists, but Becky from Renovate in Texas saw immediately that the only secure solution was to replace everything below the flooring. The team came on schedule, and did a fantastic job , making my deck now twice as strong as when it was new. Working on an existing deck caused some constraints not present in new construction. The workers had to take off the expensive composite decking without damaging it. They sank a new post right up next to the hot tub, which I thought would be difficult. They saved the railing, re-installed and repainted it. And despite the work going over two days, they left us with egress from the house and access to the hot tub. Did a great job of installing an exterior steel door in an existing garage wall. The crew was obviously capable and did more than was expected. Sheetrock was taped and floated and made ready for painting. Locks were installed and checked. An outside concrete step was anchored to the house foundation with steel rods. John showed up quickly during a time when it was hard to get a General Contractor. (This was not long after the crazy winter storms in TX that caused a lot of damage.) We reached out to Renovate In Texas to install canned LED lights in four upstairs rooms. Gilbert and the crew did an awesome job! They were thorough and very clean! We added a 240 breaker for a new hot tub at the last minute and they installed it at a very reasonable price. We had some issues when the spa guys delivered the hot tub and Gilbert returned to troubleshoot the issue alongside the spa guys. They figured out the issue together and we were able to hop in the tub the same day! John and Gilbert are a great team and they bend over backwards to make the customer happy! We will be calling Renovate In Texas again for our next project. read more

Renovate Texas didn't do any work for me. I had an appointment set up, and received an email 90 mins before they no longer wanted to do the project. It wasn't the biggest project, but a decent patio/pergola/pavilion build. It was very frustrating the project was accepted and I organized my day around the appointment only to be ditched last minute. I guess business is good, and at least they gave me a heads up instead of a no-show at all. I won't consider them for any future work given this experience read more

I went with Renovate in Texas to do a small repair job on my house. I got an estimate and work began. The first team he sent out was constantly hours late with no communication , had no one on the team that could speak English , and did a bad job ( paint job that was uneven and bled into corners, door trim that did not match the rest of the house). I asked for a different team and the new team did a better job. One high price repair quoted was to replace floor in the a/c closet. This would have involved removing the ac unit and putting a new floor in. They decided the wood was in decent condition and could be propped up with a piece of wood to keep it from sagging. I was okay with that option but felt the cost should be reduced significantly from the estimate because of the change in scope of the work. I asked him to provide me with a breakdown of the costs so I knew what each part cost. He told me he didn't operate that way. We did end up settling the bill for work to date and I got someone else to do the carpeting that was part of the original quote. Parts of the job he was in charge of still need to be finished. Finishing trim etc. Overall I felt I paid too much for what ended up being trim and paint. ( the paint job was supposed to be free by the way, he offered that as an incentive to get my job). So really $1200 for trim , buying and installing an interior prehung door and a cut piece of 2x4. So would I recommend? Can't say that I would. read more

I hired Renovate in Texas mainly to redo a bathroom, install some cabinets to make a bedroom into a MIL suite and renovate my kitchen. Like many of the reviews, I occasionally found communication to be a challenge and work crew scheduling to be spotty. However, the work was mostly done well and any issues were taken care of quickly. The best crew I had were Oliver and Rodrigo, who came in to fix some of the work and get the project back on track. I do recommend them, especially if you can be there during the work and are ok with time slippage on the project. Tim, my project manager, was easy to work with and took my comments into consideration. He explained when what I wanted wasn't feasible and also ensured that my design vision was executed - even when he was worried about some of my choices. I knew going in that work crews are routinely over booked so took that into consideration when the time estimate was given. I had already had a bad experience with a different company, am very opinionated about what I want in my house and have a very high expectation 0f the level of work. The company met my standards and when I redo the back half of my house next year, I will be reaching out to them again. read more

I am in the beginning of a multistage renovation of half my house, with the other half planned for next year. I was initially hesitant because there were some negative reviews and I know exactly what I want the finished product to look like and am picky. I am very pleased with the work so far. The living area has been expanded by opening a wall, adding a beam, matching floor tile. The tile is very well matched, the wall and ceiling flows seamlessly and the work was done safely and in such a way that I feel secure about the workmanship and my brand new roof ( done by Reliable Roofing - who was awesome and I highly recommend!!! ) There have been some communication problems, which has caused me to delay my appliance delivery because things are going slower than the company seems to have estimated. But, I am willing to wait a bit for a quality job, which seems to be happening. This is a busy time in Austin, so we just all have to be patient and understanding with each other. I'll post more when the bathroom renovation is done, then there's the kitchen, adding a kitchenette, exterior door to make a mother in law suite, plus the patio upgrades. read more
