Hired these guys to load my U-Haul truck... worst decision EVER! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! So I hired these guys to load my U-Haul truck for me and constantly told them even over the phone that I was moving to Philadelphia and that is 775 miles away from Chicago. Obviously some roads will be good. Some roads will be bad, so I need my things to be secure in the truck. Frank Gomez assured me that all would be well. He has been packing trucks for years and he would make sure that everything was secure and tight so that it would not move around. The process that they use was Frank Gomez stayed in the truck the whole time organizing everything inside the truck wow his two helpers bought things down to him. He never once came into my apartment to see what I had to move and to tell his helpers what process they should be using!! I had my mother and my son there with me as well. And they say about two hours into packing the truck. He actually got upset for some reason and stormed off back to his truck and didn't come back for 30 minutes. Why he got mad I don't know because I was not downstairs. I was upstairs trying to halfway direct the men who were taking everything down and also still packing up a few things myself and cleaning up as I went. I almost feel like Frank Gomez was jealous of the nice furniture that I had. So he wanted to make sure it got destroyed!!!!! Fast forward to me, unloading my truck three days later and lo and behold almost every last thing that was not inside of a box was completely broken. All of the glass to my TV stand and my computer desk. He stacked two computer chairs on top of each other one upside down, and they immediately fell over before I even got out of Chicago upon looking inside the truck. Which also was leaning against my couch and a decorative fake tree , which broke the decorative fake tree. I could go on and on about all the things that were damaged. On top of that, I rented two dozen furniture pads from U-Haul and had to supply four rolls of tape. They were literally wrapping canvas pictures in furniture pads, and didn't wrap any of the glass or my furniture and furniture pads. They wrapped couch cushions and furniture pads and then at the end they ran out of furniture pads, and I had to let them use my good blankets and things like that to wrap all of the fragile glass and stuff because they decided to leave the fragile glass furniture to pack last!!!! These have got to be the most idiotic Movers I have ever seen in my life!!! They literally didn't tie anywhere. They didn't use any of the rope or bungee cords that I bought. I had to go get more tape for them to wrap, furniture, and furniture pads and when I came back, they were carrying my clothes out the closetfreehanded and hanging them on the wall of the truck with some rope. I told them that I did not want my clothes just free hanging in the truck like that and I was going to put them in garbage bags on the hangers. I am so disgusted with my choice and the people who unpacked my truck just were going on and on about how fucked up a job they really did. Avoid at all costs!!! I also OVERPAID with all the commotion going on I forgot he required a $100 deposit which would go towards the move and he let me pay the whole fee in cash not reminding me that I already had paid $100! So I over paid and over tipped! read more

Frank was AMAZING! My sister needed to move back from GA. I had no idea how we were going to unload a 26 foot truck into a storage unit with just us. I'm a small person and she's freshly diagnosed with leukemia. I found Frank at 3pm on a Sunday. He sent me 3 very strong, patient and professional men at 6pm on a Sunday. I made a mistake with the storage units address and sent them to the wrong place. I'm sure it was frustrating, but they stayed professionals and understanding that I made a mistake and left them in the cold because of my mistake. They never once gave up on us. It took them an hour and a half to unload the truck. They didn't just throw everything in the unit, they organized everything. They went very much above and beyond for us! Frank is great! From the very beginning, he is professional and courteous and reasonable. I needed someone to just come on in and remove some old packing boxes and some big trash bags from some yard work I had done. It was a small job, but I had no time or the means to do so. They BAILED with no notice!! Told me to text him a few days ahead to confirm. I did... response: call me tomorrow I'm busy... call/text no answer for 2 days. He was coming from Chicago and didn't wanna haul the junk back because of Gas prices. Ok, so I paid $200 to have the bagster service pick up the next day. These guys were absolutely fantastic! I asked for 3 guys for 2 hours and then ended up needing an additional hour. They arrived on time and stayed the entire 3 hours. They were very careful with my belongings and placed things in the correct places. I had hired them to move a 3 bedroom house up to the third floor of a walk up and they completely busted ass! THEY BAILED!!! Do NOT trust these people. I had talked to them numerous times before my move and when the date and scheduled time came and went, I called 20+ times and he ignored every single one. They also have an "office" number. I was thrilled to hear someone finally answer the phone, but to no surprise, some drunk idiot answered and had no idea what was going on or where I could find my movers. I originally found Rent A Dude on another site and decided to check to see if they had any reviews on Yelp. Satisfied with what I read I used the handy contact the business link. It was well past any regular business hours, much to my surprise I received a quick friendly reply. After a little back and forth, I decided that this project wouldn't be the right fit, however I was impressed. It is rare for a business to offer up a suggestion that doesn't get them the job, in short using ComEd to remove a refrigerator. Grossly overpriced and arrogant. Was two hours late (past the time he selected) in quoting me $75/hour to clear snow using my shovel, then when I declined insited that's "worth it." Woe to the helpless dupe who pays these rates. If you want to pay lawyer prices for basic labor, this is your guy. Otherwise, move on. read more

Rent a dude took our call on a Saturday and were able to come the same day. Two guys were able to haul a really annoyingly heavy couch to our second floor. They worked really hard and were really a godsend. Thanks a lot dudes! read more

Hired Frank to paint a few rooms in my condo on 03/13/21 and 03/14/21, but had to dismiss him after he painted a small bedroom and small bathroom. Although Frank was pleasant, the result of his paint work was extremely poor. He got paint not only on the wall, but also on the window blind, carpet and linen lamp shade. He painted the cable outlet - Not just the cable outlet cover, but the metal cable outlet. Edges are all uneven. He got paint on the ceiling and baseboards, bathroom fixtures, sink, dining room wood floor, and other places. After such a poor paint job, I could not trust that he is capable of cleaning up the work, so I had to hire other painters. I wanted to give him a chance and wish I could post a positive review, but I now know I should have hired true painters instead. read more

I asked Frank to paint a12 by 15 ceiling that's 12 feet high. He said that it would be $200 and he could do it Wednesday or Thursday at the latest. It's Friday night and he still hasn't responded to the text message with the address or the follow up text message I sent on Tuesday when he would come by to do the work. DO NOT HIRE THESE UNPROFESSIONAL MEN. I used them to move my elderly parents moving out of the Chicago area. I picked them based on the reviews on yelp. I have no issues helping young men out, but we have a few grievances to file. Frank was professional when trying to get business but when it came to resolving issues or being available to talk on the phone during and after the move, he was completely missing. No response; no phone call back after trying numerous times. I paid them what they didn't deserve just to get them off our property and stop harassing my elderly parents. We hired 2 men to fill a 16ft POD - JUST LABOR. 1/3 of the POD was empty as we didn't have that much stuff. Everything was already packed. They had to just wrap them up in plastic and load the POD and tie it down as requested. IMP: Job that should have taken NO more than 2 hours took them 4 hours with 3 men. You decide how "efficiently" they work and on top of that they demanded money for 4 hours of labor. It took 2 men 35 mins to unload the POD at the destination so that gives you an idea on the stuff we had. I had specifically requested bringing wraps, tape etc. and Frank assured me that they will. When the 3 young college men came, they had no idea and said they were not told to bring any material. First off, we were dealing with an inexperienced crew that clearly did not know to strategize, wrap and load stuff in a POD. Let me give you a few examples: 1) They came in and were told clearly all the stuff that needed to be wrapped and loaded in a POD in such a manner that all space is utilized optimally. 3 men came but only two people were working. The person designated to wrap had no idea how to do it and so my elderly parents (66;70 years old) had to jump in and help him wrap everything up. The man who wasn't working was Frank's son. He was just standing and throwing his wait around without assisting. On top of that he was rude. 2) As they were loading stuff in, my dad reminded them again that this is a POD and not a truck and so things need to be tied down, so it doesn't move. This POD was travelling 1200 miles. They ignored his reminder and continued to load the truck. 3) After everything was loaded, they then remembered they had to tie things down and so they start unloading things again. 4) They had no idea how to tie things and started to blame the ropes. They spent over 1.5hr and still could not manage to tie things down using the handles in a POD. In the end, we were so tired of this and asked them to just load and leave. Second off, their attitude was very bad. At one point, my father was FaceTiming with me and one of the men went off on him saying he will leave the job right now and walk away. Who does that??? This is completely unacceptable!!! Third off, we are paying for the labor. It could either go in a POD or a car - that's irrelevant. They refused to load up a treadmill in a car and we had to cough up an additional $30 to pay them to do that! In the end, the stuff was not tied down and we had a risk of it falling/breaking in the move! This is quite unacceptable. My elderly parents worked hard for hours alone to unload and tie down the ropes properly after they left- something that 3 young men couldn't do! read more

100% RECOMMEND! Frank and his team completely saved my roommate and I when our movers cancelled at 9pm the night before our 9am move. We called Rent A Dude at 11pm at night, told them what happened and they were immediately on board to help us. They moved our large furniture from a 4th floor walk up into a 3rd floor walkup. They worked so hard (through the rain) and did it all super fast and with great attitudes. We are so grateful for them and will definitely be using them again. read more

They say it's not hoarding if your stuff is cool. That may or may not be true, but after 8 years in a huge house, I had to move all of the inventory and other stuff I'd accumulated (which is, frankly, an insane amount of stuff). I totally overestimated myself, and the afternoon before I was supposed to have it all done after already being given more time by my landlord, I wasn't even close. I called in the afternoon, and they were there that evening. At the risk of sounding crass, these guys saved my ass. They worked without complaint (IN THE DARK, mostly, because my electric was shut off on the first, and this was the 4th) I thought I could do most of the move by myself, because I move stuff all the time as part of my job. Frank came over and gave me a quote on a small job and said he'd be back the following day- afternoon, to be exact. I told him that as for the move we were going with someone else. Not my choice! Anyway, I set aside the day and made sure I was home the following day and zilch! Nada! Nothing! No Frank, no call not even a courtesy text to let me know he wasn't interested in doing the work! My movers cancelled last-minute on August 1st (VERY popular move-in date for Chicago apartments!) and I was scrambling for someone to help me move 2 bedrooms and a full living room set. Every other moving company was booked through the weekend. I called Rent A Dude and they said that they could be there in an hour- Florentine and Joel showed up in 30 minutes! They were extremely respectful and hardworking. All the U-Hauls had already been rented so all we had to work with was a cargo van to make multiple trips back and forth, but they did not complain and made it work. On our last trip, a bed frame wouldn't fit in the van, so instead of making another trip, Joel CARRIED the bed frame on his back about 6 blocks to my new apartment to save time. The move ended up taking 6 hours and lots of strategic moves to get our couches through the small doorframes of the old Lakeview apartment. I hired George to move a large amount of landscaping stones from one side of my property to the other side. George and his helper worked very hard for four hours to do the work. This was strenuous work that required shoveling the rocks into a wheelbarrow and moving the rocks. They kept at it the entire time and eventually the stones were moved as needed. George is hard-working and personable and he brought a hard-working helper with him. His rates were as quoted on the phone. I plan to use George and Rent A Dude again. read more
