I've used Rent-A-Wreck Parsippany quite a few times over the years. Most recently I rented a cargo van 3 times in the last month. I've been quite happy with them. The vans were not wrecks at all. One was older, two were brand new, all were roadworthy. Rosalie helped me with all of them. She is friendly, efficient, knows her stuff. She was careful to document any dents before I left the lot, and she took the time to help figure out the right mileage quota, and familiarize me with the particulars of the controls and dashboard of each vehicle. Rented from these folks in June, no spare tire, car was filthy, not full of fuel. When we returned the vehicle early they charged the full amount. This past week, they fraudulently charged my card $112. Stay away from these folks and rent somewhere else. read more

Take a picture of your gas gauge when you rent anything here. I filled up the tank exactly where they gave it to me but to my surprise they charged me an additional $38. When I called and questioned it they said they gave to me with 7/8 tank and I returned with 6/8. That is complete BS! They are completely gouging people there. Beware! read more

Rent a Wreck in Parsippany is an awesome place to rent a car. First, and most importantly, their rates are excellent and the cars are NOT wrecks. They have quality cars at reasomable prices. I needed to rent a car for a number of weeks after mine was really messed up and the insurance company was not quick in settling up. From beginning to end the staff was helpful and attentive. I was told what paperwork I need, an accurate price, and when I arrived it went smooth and easy. When I needed an extension it was equally easy. This is a great place to rent a car! read more

DO NOT MAKE A RESERVATION ONLINE! This entire operation was unprofessional from start to finish. I made a reservation through their website. I received an email titled "Confirmation of your reservation". I arrived at the store promptly at 9:00AM (when they theoretically open). They were not open. I called and a woman in Dover answered rudely (Who answers the phone with "I'm with a customer right now, please hold"?). She told me they should be open and she would call the desk person on her cell phone. The woman at Parsippany showed up at 9:11, with three customers waiting. She did not even apologize for being so late, just unlocked the door, said "good morning", and "who's first?". Then the real trouble began. They did not have my reservation. I showed her the email from Rent-a-Wreck that said "Confirmation". She told me that was from corporate, but you don't actually have a reservation unless the local office contacts you. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!! Then the run-around began. They did not have the size van that I needed. Then they could give me a different one for an additional cost. Then they could wave the additional cost but give me no free miles. Then they could give me some free miles if I picked it up at a different location, but not as many as my original reservation said. My original reservation should have cost about $55 for a van for 4 hours. The deal she could give me was a truck for $90, not counting the huge cost difference in gas. Ultimately, we called Uhaul. They had vans available. It was a little more expensive, but they were very professional, reliable, clean, and easy. From now on, I will pay a little more for better service, courtesy, and reliability. read more

I had a bad feeling from the moment I stepped in. I booked a 2 day car reservation and I advised them that may only need it for one day. They said I would get a prorated refund based on when I bring it in. I took the car out at 10:48am on 8/11/16 and brought it back around 12:30 8/12/16. They still charged me for two full days after I asked about the refund, slipping me the final bill hoping I wouldn't notice. Long story short, I rent the car for 2 days, take it back within 27 hours, and they charge me in full after promising differently. Nothing about this shop seems legit, and you should rent for a little more from a real company instead of cheaping out here and paying for it later whether it be hidden costs or compromised customer service. Really bad experience. Car was worse than a wreck - falling apart! Made the reservation on line and they did not have my reservation in the system when I showed up as it had to be manually entered by someone not on site. A call to that person and they found my reservation but I waited 15 minutes while they set it up. Car smelled like cigarettes and urine but I was stuck as I needed to be someplace so I had to take it (was their only car). There was a hole in the floorboard covered by a mat. Our experience with the Rent-A-Wreck in Lake Hiawatha was quite good. Although we had reserved a 12-passenger van, they were not available and we were given the 15-passenger van for the same price. The van was clean and in good shape, staff was courteous, both on the day we picked up and dropped off, and prices were as advertised. We made our reservation over the phone, so cannot comment on the last reviewer's claim regarding online reservations. Will definitely use them again. read more

Very unsatisfied! Have rented here before and no problems with truck rentals. Rented a car as mine was in the shop. Received a piece of crap - 110,000 miles - snot rags in between emergency brake. Tires were low and needed to put air in them. Several times could not get car out of park. When we returned vehicle - there was a disagreement on the gas. 5/8 as apposed to 6/8. After we signed off on contract - they can go back into office and change mileage and fuel levels. BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU SIGN! Additional charges were applied to our credit card. When I reached out - I called Dover location. Talked to a nice woman Trish, she told me a supervisor would get back to me. So who calls me back...Trish. I asked ...your a supervisor? She said yes - when you called yesterday I was off the clock! WTF is that. Not professional at all. They did offer if I rent at a later date they will give me a whopping $10 off.
