First of all it has the lowest of prices for motor scooter or other vehicle rentals. Then, their prices include liability insurance which most of the other places load on to you on top of their higher prices. Also, the scooters I have rented from them have always been in good operating condition and always topped off with gasoline. The staff at Ernesto's also knows everything there is to know about the island, finding your way around, and more than happy to advise you on anything having to do with Cozumel.

We saw the "Wild Side" of the island, taking the entire loop around Cozumel. Lunch was included which was great fajitas at a beach side restaurant. We sampled Tequila, visited a Mayan cultural center, played on the beach, and rode with the wind! Not the cheapest entertainment in the Caribbean, but we felt we got our money's worth. Ive rented now 4 times in the Yucatan from 4 different companies and the basics are all the same. I actually found that on my recent 1 week rental from America Car Rental / Economy I got the best deal so far. First things first. Always get the full insurance. There is no getting around this. We are so spoiled in the US and Canada by our credit cards or personal car insurance being accepted. America gave me a price for full insurance with NO-Deductible. Thats what you want. It was basically $50 US a day. Not bad when my rental was only $18 US a day. LOL This is what gets ridiculous in Mexico - the pricing schemes. That being said I reversed into a palm tree and busted the rear door and completely shattered the rear window exposing everything. They drove from Cancun to Tulum (2 Hours) with a replacement car that day. When I returned the car, I thought perhaps things are going to go sideways. Nope, they returned my deposit (500 USD) and that was the end of it. I even checked by credit card after returning a few times. All good. My total cost for the week rental was $328 USD fully insured. My trip was October 2023. As long as they keep it up, Id say this compnay is great. Following our cruise excursion, my group of six wanted to explore Cozumel. While walking out of the…read morecruise port, we saw someone renting out scooters. Decided to do it as we all love riding. Well, at least the roommate and I do anyways. We ended up negotiating a rate of $50 per scooter (instead of $60) x3. This included gas and 3 hours of time. So we basically had them from 1pm-4pm. I can't recall what the scooters were (maybe Hondas?). They weren't in the best condition, but still ran pretty well. Tucan did provide helmets too, but they were super ill fitted. Mine kept blowing back when we rode, so it wouldn't have provided much protection if anything happened. We actually went quite a way on the scooters. Drove from the cruise port to lunch at La Choza, then off to the beach at Playa Publica, which was on the other side of Cozumel. Just getting to the beach and back was probably about 45 km. We were a few minutes late returning them as we lost one of my cousins, but they were cool about it. They actually kept our cruise card as collateral, so we were glad we didn't have to pay extra. It was only a few minutes anyways. Fun way to explore Cozumel. I just wish we had more time. Make sure to negotiate as you can get a cheaper price!

He has a booth outside in the walk way right in front of Miniso! He offers tourist attractions and sold us the rental car through Rentadora Golondrina. We ride the ferry all the way to Cozumel, walk to the rental place, just to find out they don't even have the car we rented, and mind you it's getting late in the evening, and the rental is by day so they said they would have to go get the car we rented, I was not happy because at that point we would only have the car for 2 hours but we were going to do it until they presented us a contract in all SPANISH. About liability, damage, etc to the vehicle. We don't speak nor read Spanish, that's when I opened my phone to look the place up and seen the reviews, to which my surprise nothing but scam experiences, so we kindly declined asked for a refund and left. This has been almost a month ago and they have yet to refund me for goods and services I did not receive. As soon as I got into the airport, I went to the Alamo counter and the lady walked my group all the way outside and around the corner to the guy that was driving the shuttle (being from the States, I really appreciated her walking us to exactly where we needed to go instead of just explaining because we had absolutely no idea where we were going). The shuttle driver picked up all our bags and put them in the shuttle for us then drove us to the rental place. Service there was fast and easy! They didn't try to push any extra insurance on us, simply asked us if/what insurance we wanted and explained everything very well. Gave me the total cost of everything and when I returned the vehicle, the cost stayed the same! No hidden fees, no problems at all. The car was very nice and the staff was very friendly and efficient! I would give them 10 stars if I could! Very very pleased with this company and how smooth everything went! After all is said and done, the total cost for the rental over tripled and the deposit on the card for the time of the rental is over $1600! Great way to start the vacation.

The car was very clean, felt almost new, and had great air conditioning. I would book with them again. The one thing to keep in mind is that Mexico requires you to get additional insurance above what you pay for your reservation as insurance from the states doesn't cover your car rental. I didn't know this at first, but wanted to share the information, but Budget has several great options for this that they review with you when you get there.
