Will not use them again. Very unclear about their pricing and unwilling to make things right. As a new customer new to the area I will be in the need of renting equipment often. They may have made more on my first rental but lost a lot more by losing my future business and referrals. Very unclear on pricing. I wanted the excavator for one day. Paid when I went in to sign. They said they would pick it up after 24 hours. Which they did. I then noticed my card had been charged for an extra day. They said it was because we used it 14 hours. They said that one day rental for them was 8 hours, which I was never told, nor my wife when she called to reserve it. My son was with me at time and he never heard anything about 8 hours. Very misleading.....may be in the fine print. Would you got in to rent a car for one day (24 hours) and expect to only drive it 8 hours???? read more

Very disappointed. We are doing a lot of work in Paradise and rented a chipper from this company. When we picked it up the shoot was plugged and we were unable to use it all day. No refund. No discount. They were extremely rude to me when I called to complain and their manager was the worst manager I have had to deal with. Didn't care to fix the issue, just wanted to place blame. We will be taking our business elsewhere. Never will use this company again. read more

After a phone call and having to show up in person, they acknowledged the fact that they are responsible for damage to my car but refuse to provide me their insurance information unless I take my car to their repair shop. They rented me a 2800lb trailer with no brakes, no mention about this when I rented it. But when I returned it the employee, Erik Wagner, did admit they knew this, as they "had been broken for a long time". I asked for a discount which he agreed to but then they never refunded any money. I will be reporting them to the State Highway Patrol. read more

Be careful...I am not rating the equipment. The excavator worked great. The one star is for them not being clear on the rental time. We rented the equipment for one day and paid for the one day before delivery. We were told if they dropped it off at 9am Friday it would be picked up at 9am the following morning. One day is 24 hours. However, we were charged for 2 days because we used it 14 hours. When we saw the extra charge on our account we called and were told that even though we have the equipment for 24 hours we could not use it for more than 8 hours without an additional day being charged. Our company utilized the Rental Guys for a manlift. They were over an hour late and then the driver drove off the road and damaged one of our tower landlord's road and driveway. The driver had to be pulled out and caused another 45 minute delay. We understand mistakes happen and that is ok. The driver notified his office of the damage and he said he would have it fixed. Our staff called and spoke to their office numerous times about getting the damage fixed, as did the landowner. I was notified by my staff that the matter was not taken care of 3 weeks later. I called and spoke with a manager and he said it will be taken care of. I took this to mean it would. Over a month later I was notified by my lead outdoor Manager that the damage had not been rectified and again I called their office. I then contacted the Better Business Bureau. It has now been past the time the BBB gives for the business to respond. I did recieve one phone call last week from the owner saying this was the first he has heard of it. Although the BBB phoned me this morning and told me that they have called the Rental Guys numerous times and send multiple emails in the last 30 days. Our company will now pay for the damages to be repaired because that is what a good company does. They fix mistakes that are made. Mistakes happen but when they do, a good business fixes them. read more

My husband and I had a big job ahead of us, painting almost 2000 sf of the interior of our home, plus all of the ceilings, so we decided to rent an airless sprayer for the job. We thought we could get the job done in one day, and rented a nice sprayer from a competitor up in Paradise. At 2am when we finished, it looked great. At 9am the next morning, not so much! So we needed to rent a sprayer again, this time in town, from Rental Guys. When my husband arrived to pick it up, the tires were flat and it was a filthy mess. They told my husband he would have to clean it because the last guy didn't. He did air up the tires, but they went flat again in the middle of working, making it difficult to move the machine. We should have known by the condition of the machine and the blase attitude of the worker that we would have problems. We took the sprayer home, spent about an hour cleaning it and started working. The spray pattern was awful, gloppy and uneven, but we trudged on, as we were past deadline and over budget. Soon we realized that the nozzle was getting worse, so we stopped to re-clean it. We did a much more thorough job and it took almost an hour. Towards the end of the job, on the last room, we ran out of paint. We had MORE than enough and should not have been short. We then noticed that the discharge bucket had at least TWO gallons of dirty paint in it!! The day before we went through three 5 gal buckets and had hardly any discharge! With this sprayer we only used 2 5 gal buckets and had 10 times as much discharge. Such a waste of expensive paint!! We cleaned the machine and saved the discharge bucket and the next morning took it in, hoping the people there would concur that they cost us time and money, but instead we were told, "There's [competitor's name here] down the street. Use them if you're not happy." Hmph! We will NEVER use them again. If you want to rent from someone, use Ace Rentals in Paradise, They ROCK! read more

I wish I read the reviews on this company before we rented equipment from them, would have never rented from them had I done so - live and learn. We rented a Bobcat (skid steer) for fence work on our farm. Paid extra for the damage waiver insurance. Within 30 minutes of very light soil work the track fell off the wheels and we noticed they gave us a Bobcat with torn tracks. Called their office immediately and verified they will not charge us for the time we can't use the Bobcat. they sent repair guys out the next day so we lost 1.5 days waiting to get it in working order. They charged our credit card for the repair and travel time & labor without telling us and without our consent! Completely the opposite of what we were told over the phone when we notified them of the problem. I've never experienced an equipment rental company that does that! Especially since it was delivered with damage and we paid for extra insurance! We're contractors who work all over the state and across the whole country and have never experienced anything like this. Their attitude when we complained was dismissive and rude. To top it all off, the receipt they emailed us for the repair charge was hundreds of dollars less than what was actually charged to our credit card. Will not work with this rental company even if they are the last one left after this corona virus! This is my first and only one star review on Yelp and I hope it is the last. In fairness, writing about their new Grass Valley location. However, if the Chico location is a reflection of the Grass Valley location, beware. Staffing inadequate, assistance poor. Tried to rent 9" chipper and it bogged down immediately. Told I could drag it back 10 miles to return it. Only two at site so no on-site help. Sad that the previous store (Gold-n-Green) took some pride in customer service and maintenance. Wasted time. Hope Chico is better! read more

Good service, friendly people and solid new equipment but 3 stars because they will charge you for more and not tell you. I've rented many things from rental guys and this happens 50%+ of the time. You always need to check your credit card for the amount charged. It should be policy that if they are going to charge more than the amount agreed upon, they should call and leave a message with the new amount and why. Instead they just go ahead and charge without discussion. This throws the responsibility back onto the customer to check their card statement, compare it to the receipt, and ensure they were charged the correct amount. This practice is very frustrating for the customer especially for someone who is busy and rents a lot. I hope management does something about it. read more

I have had great experiences with their rental and Bobcat sales department. I have purchased multiple Bobcats and attachments from them and each time was a great experience. I also rented a lift from them multiple times and they have nice equipment and are very easy to work with. I recommend them to anyone looking for a great rental company! read more

We rented 4 sets of scaffolding from the Rental Guys in Red Bluff and had it for a few months. My advice is keep your rental agreement because their monthly charges might not agree with the original agreement. When we returned everything the clerk said we had rented more pieces than we actually had and started to argue. Finally no one would help my 70 year old husband unload the frames and planks off the truck and he had to do it himself. We'll go somewhere else next time. read more

PEOPLE BEWARE ! I purchased a used chipper from someone named Hans, I was told it had 419 hours on it and was in good condition, he would bring it to Chico from Redding so i could pick it up, about a week later he's sending it to Grass Valley were i'm at and i thought that was really nice of him, then he gets me to pay for it on the phone sight unseen by telling me how pleasantly surprised i was going to be when i got it. (surprised yes !) closer to 4000 hours, anvil was toast, knives were ground past min safe size. hyd pump shaft bent, several cracks in the frame, motor warning indicator lights not working, oil pressure gauge not working, the other gauge broken, auto feed not working, 26" disc with knives that winds up to 1500 rpm had bird shit welds piled on the fan blades throwing it badly out of balance ! I tried to call him back but he was always out they said, would not return my calls or emails. The nerve of this guy to ask me if i was a tire kicker. How a business could lie like that and rent a dangerous piece of equipment in that shape to the public is beyond me. read more

rented a boom lift, the hydraulic leg on 1 out4 legs wouldn't go down so we couldn't finish out THE job, drove 4 hrs there and back. thinking we were getting a great machine and quit working and one tree trimming, call and spoke with management they said to speak with mechanic, and still the #4 leg WOULDNT work. w We couldn't finish and they said they would pu because of issues with boom lift, only to find out they charge an xtra $200.00 plus full amount on lift. Called spoke with owner and he was very rude and said it was the people using it. they have used lifts for 30 yrs and tried everything to fixed it. owner said what could he do to stop me from calling and asking why I was charge for pu and not credit for a broken machine. he wasn't even listening to me and taking with someone else and ignoring me completely. AGAIN RUDE THEY SHOULD LISTEN AND BE RESPECTFUL OF PEOPLE TRUSTING THERE MACHINES WHEN THEY KNOW THINGS GO OUT. STILL VERY RUDE AND THIS WAS THE OWNER!!!!!!!!!
