As I was busy with harvest I dropped off my Craftsman 18" chainsaw for repairs requesting a new chain bar, fuel lines and a carb replacement. The parts all come as a kit for about $15 on eBay. They never called me back and after a month I stopped in to pick it up. Initially they wanted $135 for the parts and labor. I went to see it run before paying them. It wouldn't start. The mechanic is a total fool and obviously didn't understand two stroke motors. He insisted it would start on starting fluid or carb cleaner. He didn't even know that these are low compression engines and the seal is from the fuel oil mix. They swapped out my serviceable chain bar for another used bar and didn't provide the old bar which was serviceable , nor could they show me my old parts as requested. I told them I will take my tool to another shop and they prevented me from leaving with MY TOOL. I politely explained since they didn't do the work I won't pay them. The office Lady just laughed at me. They then scammed me for $35 for troubleshooting and for the "parts" they installed. They told me it was beyond repair which was total BS. I took it home and repaired it myself. Upon opening it up I found the following: -a used scraped off spark plug with the electrode shorted to the ground arm. - the same fuel lines and fuel filter I had installed before. -my old carburetor that they had sprayed with solvent but hadn't rebuilt. They never even removed it for inspection. I bought the service kit and replaced the fuel filter all the lines, a new carb, plug and air filter. It runs better than new! THIS PLACE IS A TOTAL SCAM OUTFIT -- If the mechanic kid is factory trained or certified he must have had a TBI. Don't risk your tools and don't go there. THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF! read more

Great small business that does great work. First thing I took in for service was my 4stroke weed trimmer. It had been several year since it was last serviced but the fuel bulb split and I couldn't get it started. They replace the bulb and the fuel lines and now it runs like new. I then took a small 1500Kw generator that had a fuel leak. They diagnosed the problem quickly and did maintenance service on it. I got both back just a few days after dropping them off. Thanks again and I'll be bringing my small engine stuff back to them when needed. read more

I have not had an occasion where I needed to repair a part to a power tool, but I did just a few days ago. This company received my repair item on Friday and had it back to me on the next Monday PM. I brought my Honda pressure washer in for repair as the rope was not pulling to start. Ran perfect prior to this. Four weeks had gone by and I had not heard anything from him. Let a little time go by as I understand people are busy. I went in, one month later and the lady at the front desk was digging through a pile of paperwork as if we live in 1983 looking for the paperwork to my pressure washer. She was unable to find it and she said that when Jason got in, she would have him call me With regards to the pressure washer. Jason never did call but the front desk lady did leaving a message saying that my pressure washer had a mechanical problem and that they were going to spray some stuff into the carburetor and it would be a couple of hours and she would call me back tomorrow. I did not authorize any such repairs had no idea what she was talking about but this was on a Friday. Needless to say, I never heard back from them and today marks six weeks. I call there and again she cannot find my paperwork, but Jason's sure to call me back. It's almost closing time at this point and call from Jason. I called back. She gets Jason on the phone who currently has the engine apart in the palm of his hands. Let's remember I never authorized any such repairs as I brought it in thinking the rope pole was broken. At this point, Jason goes on to say that it's gonna be about $250 to repair this engine that he has taken apart. Engine shouldn't be apart first and foremost and I'm certainly not going to pay $250 for a $350 pressure washer. At this point, I now have a pressure washer that is in pieces and since it's part, we would never be able to try and repair ourselves. I certainly wouldn't recommend them because they have never reached out to me since the day that I dropped it off and each time that I have contacted them, they had to dig through piles of paperworkto find the invoice for my pressure washer. Very disorderly, bad business conduct and here we are six weeks later and my pressure washer is in the same condition as when I dropped it off. Would definitely not recommend them. read more

I read the reviews and was hesitant to use their service. I will not use some of the repair shops in chico . I took my lawnmower into G and M anyway. I do not understand the negative reviews. They were extremely personable and they had my lawnmower ready that same afternoon. I haven't used the mower yet but it started well when they showed me the job preformed. I will continue to take my equipment to G and M in the future. The cost of repair was in line of the other repair shops in Chico. read more

Worse customer experience I've encountered. I dropped my lawnmower off for repair, was told there would be a $15 diagnostic charge and I would be contacted and told the problems and cost to repair and the $15 would be deducted from the bill if they did the repair work. I was never called until they informed me it was done. When I went to pick it up, it would not start and this happened 2x times (including the fuel line falling off). Third time it started so I took it home and it died, smoked, leaked oi/gas which is exactly why I took it in to begin with. I called and the lady at the front desk was extremely rude and offered no solutions. I asked them to credit my account and they refused. I never approved the estimated charges as they never told me what they would be. I noticed this has occurred in other yelp reviews also - working on the engine without owners approval for estimated cost. read more

AVOID THESE CROOKS AT ALL COST!!! I recently bought a weed wacker from tractor supply. After a while the trigger return wire broke. I opened a warranty claim and they sent me to G&M repair(on Dayton road now) to have it replaced(a $2.99 part). Warranty fully covers this weed wacker. These no-good thieves basically operate out of a shed in front yard. Should've tipped me off right there. I get a call from G&M saying that my weed wacker is ready and I owe them $87. The lady said that their technicians believes that it was dropped "because of the scratches and such" (TOTAL BS) And that since they work so closely with the warranty company, they have to disclose that info. Keep in mind this is a 1/16" s-shaped wire... not exactly indestructible under normal, repeated use. So they're attempting to extort me for $87 I don't have, and I'm out of a weed wacker. This is by far the rudest, most dishonest customer service encounter I've ever experienced in my life. You can believe that I'll be contacting the state attorney general, the bbb, and possibly the authorities over this, because I WILL NOT let some sketchy, tuff shed lawnmower "repair shop" steal from me. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! If you have to file a warranty claim for any equipment and they try to send you here, ask to drop it off at any other of their contracted shops. I'm like many people who have a piece of equipment in the garage they would like repaired. Mine was a power washer. The last time I went to use it, it kept starting and then immediately stopping. I suspected an electrical short. I called this repair service and was greeted with a wonderful voice. She told to bring it by the shop and they would evaluate. This is a Wife and Husband business that really gets the job done. Husband did the evaluation and determined it was not an electrical problem but an operator problem. After he did a demonstration of correct operation ( including hooking to a hose ) I realized what had happened. I am so impressed, this business is so professional and honest. If you have something that needs repair call this business. You will not be disappointed. It was a wonderful experience and I will return next time I need something repaired. This review is for G and M Repair on Dayton Rd. I think the address Yelp has is wrong. Go figure, it's Yelp. I have been having G and M doing my equipment repair for years, since the days when they were over off Hwy 32. The counter help is great, very friendly and knowledgeable. The techs who do the work are the best. When we picked up our Toro lawn mower today my wife said, " Wait a minute, that's not our mower." It was, she just didn't recognize it because they did such a great job servicing it. Good as... almost new. I pulled the start cord once and it fired up beautify, ran smoothly and had all the work I requested done! All for a fair price. Good job G and M... again. Well done! BEWARE! I asked for an estimate but they charged me for a repair that I did not get an estimate for or approve. They gave my string trimmer to another customer. I had to bring back an item 3 times and it still isn't fixed, but I was charged. The lady at the front desk has lied to me 3 times and becomes combative if you don't agree with her.
