Wish I could leave zero stars. Our real estate agent Diane schnabel basically lied through her teeth through out the whole process. Moved into a disgusting house and had to pay for a professional service to come clean it. The company that came to clean it said it was one of the worst houses they had ever cleaned and that they didn't think it had been cleaned in over a year. The customer service was also terrible. They tried to nickel and dime us throughout our time leasing with them, and were slow to fix the many issues that arose during our stay. I use Renters Warehouse to manage a townhome in AZ. They have managed the property for two years now and they have been great to work with. They are fairly inexpensive ($80/month) and I have had good luck with them finding qualified tenants. My main reason for writing this review is to praise the service I have received from the Maintenance Coordinators I have worked with. My last great experience was with Carmen Martinez!! She communicates with my home warranty company and then works with the tenets to be sure they are getting the attention and service they need. She also keeps me abreast of what problems my tenets are having AND she does all this with a smile and a calming voice! She is a jewel!!! read more

Great working with them to rent your house out. Completely USELESS as a rental management company after the tenants are in place. All they do is forward complaints from the renters about issues that arise. None of the issues are dealt with directly. If you ask for their advice on whether a tenant's requests are reasonable or you need help in finding resources to fix minor issues, the matter is forwarded by the local agent to their national "office" which seems to be a bunch of telephone operators who don't return your calls. Save your money and sanity and DO NOT work with this company for anything other than potential help in renting the property out BUT even for that, try it yourself first as they do take one month's rent as payment even if it takes them one day's effort to rent the property out. read more

Even though I emailed them a notice a month before. I left tons of messages at the office and couldn't get ahold of anyone and they never called me back! Terrible experience! They were horrible with customer service, and maintenance took FOREVER! Also we had a big orange sticker slapped on our front door after the inspector came and found a list of 30 things that need to be fixed to make the house up to code! I rented a property from them for a year and a half. It was pretty terrible. Their communication with us (tenants) and each other was terrible. I would be contacted by 4 or 5 different people about the same thing and they wouldn't know that I was already working on it with someone else. Apparently they don't keep case notes or communication logs. I've never had a phone call returned. They will e-mail back on average 4 or 5 days later. Every time I put in a maintenance request they would have to get in contact with the owner and wait for his approval. Had leaking water for days and a broken appliance for 4 months. On four occasions I came home from work and the owner was in my home with no notice and renters warehouse would just shrug and agree he shouldn't be in my home but wouldn't do anything. Horrible customer service with the Maintenance department. Our home (who we are tenants in) was inspected by the city and found to ha e multiple serious code violations. We have been dealing with maintenance repairs for over 5 months now and still things are not fixed. We have had vendors for maintenance jobs no-show 4 times!! We have also had them send people who are not qualified for the job they were here to do (I.e they scheduled a non-electrician to do electrical work). Every time I call them and try to demand that there is some accountability for this, they give me the run around. The same issues keep happening! This has been an absolutely maddening experience. Our personal lives have been competently taken over by these issues. My husband even has been written up at work for having to stay home for a last-minute scheduled repair (they love giving us less than 24 hours notice) and then they don't show up!!! This company is absolutely horrible to deal with. Don't waste your money! And if you're a homeowner, because Renters Warehouse has not properly scheduled the repairs in a timely manner, the homeowner has been issued multiple citations by the city for not complying within their deadlines. I'm sure that the landlords love this establishment, but I'm now fully aware of the horror stories that tenants have. My first mistake was not doing research on this company before I signed the lease. I just kinda figured that they would be a good renting option, or at least be better than anyone I've rented with in Minneapolis. Oh, how ignorant and wrong I was. We have had NOTHING but trouble with this company. The first problem we experienced was the house and yard. We were told that the landlord would be putting up the rest of the fence in the yard in the spring time. Well, that came and we were told by the renting agent that the landlord didn't have to do it when that SAME agent stated in the walkthrough video that all we needed to do is put in a request for it to be put in and it would be done. We decided on that house SPECIFICALLY because it had a fence and we were told it would be completed in the Spring. Lies, lies, lies. If the landlord wasn't going to do it and didn't have to do it, it would have been great if the agent was at least honest with us about it. Issue two: the piping in the house is very old and some of the pipes are corroding. The laundry room tub/sink became backed up and I thought it was just clogged, so I called a plumber because in the lease any clogged piping is on us. Turns out that the pipe was corroding and needed to be replaced, which was the main culprit in the problem. I asked if we could receive half compensation for it and they denied it. Issue three: I have been waiting for our door and second bathroom to be fixed for TWO MONTHS now. I have put in several requests and NOTHING has been done. The landlord rejects the request for the Warehouse to do it and we have been waiting for two f****** months for someone to fix it. I have called and emailed renters warehouse about this issue and they never responded to ANY of my voicemails and it took them a f****** month to reply to one email. We are paying for TWO bathrooms when we can only use ONE. The door to the backyard and garage is not usable, so every time the dogs need to be taken outside we have to go around the house to the back. Now, I know that the door issues isn't that big of a deal, but it is a big deal when we are paying a high price for something that we can't even use. Issue four: The customer service!!!! My Lord!!!!!!!!!!!! I have never, ever, ever experienced such sh*tty customer service, and we have an account with Comcast!!! It's like pulling teeth to receive any reply to an email, and you shouldn't even bother calling them because they 1. Won't answer and 2. Won't call you back. I would honestly rather rent from an over priced apartment complex that fixes sh*t when it needs to be fixed, than rent an overpriced house where we get help from no one with Renters Warehouse. Don't let the name fool you. It is ran like a slumlord. We have been tenants for 3 years. The whole time our house was a hazard with maintenance issues that never were fixed and not timely repaired if and when it was done. They had not cleaned or seen the house prior to us moving in.A/C didn't work and I was 7 month pregnant in mid June. We had to live in a hotel for a week. Repairs from hurricane Harvey were not repaired. 16 months ago our house was flooded with sewage. It was not properly cleaned up. I had developed severe asthma due to the mold in the home. Which led to my tonsils being removed because of an allergic reaction to the mold. My house was flooded with sewage 3 weeks ago. They still have not cleaned. My family has been displaced in a hotel for what will be 4 weeks on Monday. THEY DO NOT SUPPORT THEIR TENANTS or maintain the homes! read more

My experience with Renters Warehouse in the Denver metro area was less okay, because of 1) maintenance overcharges and 2) a single person...the person I signed the contract with. After signing, (and probably after he got paid) he went silent and didn't follow thru on emails or calls. The move out process has been a nightmare because there was no communication about how the process works despite notification. But thanks to Miles Cudworth in Client Services, I am a happy camper. I will preface this with I am a medical professional and have been renting houses and condos in the midwest for about 10 years. I rented from Renter's Warehouse for 1 year and it was the worst experience I have had with a rental company. They DO NOT follow the rules/restrictions laid out by their own leases. They breached my lease at least twice and then would not return my security deposit in the time-frame given by that lease. The house I was living in has since been sold by the landlord and still I don't have a security deposit. Essentially the lease is a useless document to them and the only way I have gotten anything done via their customer service department is to threaten them with a lawsuit. Now I will actually have to file the lawsuit and it is a large waste of time. If only they could follow through with what they lay out in the lease. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY! read more

I moved out on July 5th 2018, I sent several request to Renters Warehouse to remove my name from the lease and that my daughter and her family would be living at the property without my husband and myself. when we 1st moved into the property my husband/daughter and my name went on the lease. All request was sent through the portal like I was asked to do and my name never got removed. I spoke with several ppl in the Chicago Illinois office for name removal and of course it never happened. I finally got my name removed off the water bill thanks to the nice lady at the water company. I sent her my new lease. She stated Renters Warehouse was giving her a hard time about removing my name. It's going on 2 years I haven't lived at the property and now my daughter has moved out. Per Renters Ware House and Owner the house is up for sale. However they have sent my name to collections for a past due amount which I don't owe. The amount is now on my credit report and I have obtained a lawyer. Instead of them going only after my daughter they are trying to make me pay for a balance and I haven't lived there in almost 2 years. I did everything I was supposed to do, and now since they were very unprofessional they are trying to go after my husband and I. My daughter was give a 30 day notice the owner was selling because of the taxes on the house. This company is a damn nightmare and anytime I call the MN number of course I can never get anyone on the line. The Chicago office is now closed for good. I would not recommend anyone to rent from Renters Ware House ever. I will get matters on my end cleared up no matter what it takes. I'm not understanding if the owner isn't dealing with renters ware house how would she ever get the unpaid balance that my daughter owes. This is literally the least helpful rental management company I have ever experienced. They are barely ever responsive and when they do answer the answer is typically that they can't do anything about it. We went without running water for multiple days this winter because a pipe is not insulated and their response is that they couldn't help us unless the pipe burst. They also did not provide any alternative while we did not have water. Also, I have had some type of animal(s) living in my wall (possibly a hole in the outer brick?). The girl who lived here before me had put a complaint in about it and I have put in multiple maintenance requests. Renter's warehouse has still not even sent anyone out to assess the issue. Meanwhile the animal can be heard scratching at the inside of the walls and is probably causing further damage. Ridiculous. read more

This is the worst "professional" rental company I have ever worked with. I only own 1 property in MN. After following their procedures and asking for an inspection, they failed to do so several times. Because of that, the tenant had already clogged the sewer main and this would have been discovered by a property inspection. This conclusion was from the sewer main repair company sent out a couple weeks later after RW notified me tenant called in a sewer back up repair. The tenant kept using sewer and damaged property to the point of thousands of dollars and them having to leave. Then RW wanted to know if they could send the tenant back their entire deposit because they had to move out. Really? What part of they damaged the property was hard to understand? This was the 3rd horrible tenant they had placed, each leaving lots of damage and unpaid rent. I cancelled my contract with them and have been so happy with my new property manager. There is NO comparison with RW and a real, professional manager. MY ADVICE IS TO FIND SOMEONE OTHER THAN RENTERS WAREHOUSE TO MANAGE YOUR ASSET! read more

RW is so unprofessional, they tell you what you want to hear, they side with the owner 100% of the time, they have no say so in the return of your deposit. they can only advise but what's the point of all the inspections??? what's the point of all the pictures and videos when they can't question anything that the owner does. I was totally scammed and my landlord sent me a bill for $5500 in charges when i left the home immaculate. I had professional cleaning, every single thing in working condition, very very very minimal wear and tear, had carpets professionally cleaned and he took all of my deposit and charged me $3000 in made up false/fabricated charges to get my money. even added that he should be paid $500 for writing up an invoice. AND RW cannot do a dang thing. Worst experience of my life in a rental. I wish i would have done some research and never looked at RW properties. Now i have to take the landlord to small claims court and file a lien on his home. Sadly i have to put in so much work to get my money back. Bad bad karma for this guy. TO take advantage of a single mom with two kids. wow!!!! The communication and professionalism with RW was only a tad better than this owners behavior. just all around worst experience ive ever had and ive owned 3 homes and rented others and nothing even close to this experience. The staff seem like they have to read everything to say ..... they answer the phone professional which is good but its to much back and forth .they act as the middle man and dont really know much of whats going on.. i cant blame them but but at times they seem like they cant even answer questions correctly especially on the weekend just give up ...... i dont see much use for them read more

If I could I would give Renters Warehouse a 0- rating. This company is horrible! They're not interested in maintaining your properties or keeping your tenants happy. They're only interested in taking our money and getting new clients. As a tenant, we have had a really bad experience with this company. The owners of the property we're currently renting changed in the middle of our lease and the new owners hired Renters Warehouse. The first problem we had with this company was their neglect to transfer the bills so we didn't have gas for about 2 days. This means we were unable to take a bath or cook. The second issue we had was a broken boiler which needed to be replaced. They took two weeks to get someone out there and when they did get someone to get out to the property the guy didn't even have a screw driver and kept asking my boyfriend for advice about what to do. He was totally incompetent. The third problem we had was a leak in the utility room from a broken pipe that came out of the new water heater that was installed. When someone eventually come out person did come out the day it happened but he only closed off the pipe and my neighbors didn't have water for a shower for close to a week. They totally forgot about us until I called them relentlessly. After they came out to fix the pipe, they left all the wet sheetrock and wood as it was for about a month and let it mold up which cause our AC vents to mold up as well. Not until I threaten the company that I would call the city did someone come out to change the sheetrock but they didn't complete the job nor did they change the wood so the back laundry room still smells like mold. They also didn't clean out vents and the whole house smell like mold. We have requested a maintenance request multiple times and no one responded nor have they sent us a message letting us know they received our request. Now our AC isn't working, please keep in mind, it is the end of July which is in the middle of summer in Houston Texas - 100+ degrees and I'm 8 months pregnant. I put in a request on Saturday night and it's Monday afternoon and we have still not been able to get someone out there to check the AC. We have been calling and leaving messages all weekend and we received a message from them letting us know they will send someone early Monday morning. Come Monday morning, we didn't hear anything from them and when we tried calling they didn't answer until we pressed the, "if you would like to hire us to manage your property", extension. When we eventually got a hold of someone who could help us they told us they would email the property owner to see what they would like to do, which meant they hadn't even contacted the owners and were not going to unless we called. At this point, they are not moving a finger until we call them and remind them of us. We HATE having to call them every 30 mins to an hour to get someone to respond to our issue. Renters Warehouse SUCKS! Do not hire them! read more

It is a simple request that does not require a lot of "investigating" as they mention. This is just a way of saying it may take forever to get back to you...lol It's comical. Everytime a repair request is submitted I request to be contacted before repairs, yet RW authorizes the repair without even contacting me. The last time made 3 phone calls in 2 days, and never received a call back. Now, I have made multiple attempts to receive a copy of the new yearly lease agreement with no response. read more

This has BY FAR been THE MOST awful, frustrating, living-nightmare of an experience we have ever gone through in all of our years of renting history combined. This was the most unprofessional business I've ever used. I am a Land Lord of a property and had used them for 2 of my tenants. I wanted to be as hands off as possible. I used them to find my tenants because I was promised they vented their tenants extremely well. I wanted little to no problems from these tenants and they promised they would find great tenants. The first set of tenants had maintenance calls almost every month for small things. Light went out, door come off a track, microwave/fridge lights burned out. Things that any normal person could fix. The tenants left the house in a mess and I had to pay more to make it "make-ready" then I got in deposits. The 2nd tenant is where the real problem came in. I had paid extra commission to Renters Warehouse to find tenants that would agree to a 2 year lease. This totally backfired!!! These people were complaining right and left and would not properly communicate thru the right channels. They asked for things to be fixed and as a Land Lord I approved, only to find out the money I spent did not get things fixed. The tenants did not let Renters Warehouse know the issues were not resolved, or Renters Warehouse just ignored them. Renters Warehouse did not follow up on requests and do inspections like they told me they would do. The tenants sent me certified letters threating to sue me because of air conditioning problems that I had approved to fix but Renters Warehouse did not work/communicate well with the warranty company. It was an absolute mess. The tenants ended up leaving out of a 2 year lease in 12 months and left the house with BEDBUGS!!! They continued to send me letters asking me to return their deposit. Do you want to know the kicker? Renters Warehouse FIRED ME as a Land Lord because the tenants wrote negative reviews about them and they didn't want the bad press. Renters Warehouse inability to communicate effectively is costing them business. I can see from other reviews on here this is a common problem. RENTERS WAREHOUSE IS HORRIBLE...RUN AWAY!!! read more

To begin; when we rented the property we've been in for the better part of two years, Renters Warehouse did not have the leaking oil drum in the basement removed, in spite of the obvious safety hazard. Within a few months, our water heater began to leak out of the base. In spite of the unit being several feet from the washing machine, Renters Warehouse insisted the water was not a leak but a standard washer discharge. They sent three crews to check, in spite of each crew being in agreement that the water heater required immediate replacement. Finally, after almost six weeks and dozens of emails and phone calls, yet a fourth crew came to replace the unit. Shortly thereafter the sewage line out to the septic tank ruptured, spilling raw sewage all over our basement. Renters Warehouse attempted to nickel and dime us for the repairs, justifying their behavior by claiming a feminine hygiene product caused the rupture. Conveniently we never received confirmation of this from the plumbers. Our neighbor, also a Renters Warehouse customer, had a similar experience, though amusingly no female occupant lived with him. During this sewage debacle raw sewage also began to back up into our showers, toilets, and sinks. According to the plumber, the entire system was not up to code, but lo and behold Renters Warehouse did not lift a finger to address or even acknowledge the problem. Come winter we discovered the insulation in the house was so poor our electric bill more than tripled to keep the house at a measly 60°F - well over $600 for a single month. The kitchen cabinets got colder than the freezer. During a period of three weeks during which the average temperature outside was 28°F we had no heat. They sent out HVAC crews a dozen times or more to replace blown fuses, while the unit was under warranty. In other words they literally spent money they didn't need to in order to avoid actually doing the repair. Some Christmas, eh? Then of course there are the issues of dead trees dropping spear sized limbs into the ground around me as I mowed, the shed that smelled like death and with a collapsing roof, the deck warping and popping up boards, the ceiling that was torn apart by HVAC agents and never addressed, all of which took months for them to address if they addressed it at all. If you've reached this far, thank you for your attention. In summary, Renters Warehouse will treat a tenant like trash, always assume you're lying, actually spend money to avoid doing their due diligence, and will always, ALWAYS, put you as the tenant last. DO NOT RENT from these people. I wish I could put minus stars for this review. We had the worst experience. Terrible owners from which we rented and bad service from this office. When we moved in the water heater was broken, garage door key pad not working, no garage door openers...lease agent handed me generic openers and told me to program them. Security system was completely broken and beeped all the time. We had to replace and repair AT OUR EXPENSE. There was an open outlet on the floor that we had to cap to avoid stepping in it. Who checks the place out beforehand to ensure all is ready for the renters???? RW does not advocate for the renters at all. At the end, we were charged for painting which had not been done at time of renting. There were marks, gauges, which we painted over with their paint. The paint was old and left marks on the wall. We were charged to repaint the entire townhouse which mostly took our entire deposit. The people at RW had bad records and tried to tell us our deposit wasn't as large as it was, so they tried to get another $1000 from us....the owner approved it as well, trying to get even more money from us! Luckily we had records and proof of our deposit money. We FINALLY found one decent RW employee who helped resolve the issue. But not until many calls and conversations wasted time. There was no urgency to help us or get issues resolved. There is no point person assigned to a renter, so every time you call you need to explain and rehash. There is no good communication within the organization.....in some instances, they even told me the person I was returning a call to didn't exist. It is a very BAD company. John Hageman is a dishonest, lazy and unsupportive realtor. He canceled two tours on a combined notice of about 2 hours, and canceled the second one via text. He did not offer to reschedule. I was really disappointed in the lack of professionalism displayed by Renters Warehouse and John Hageman. In both cases I rearranged my entire work day to accommodate the extremely limited tour availabilities and so it was offensive that they treated a potential customers time with such callous disregard. read more

It took me 45 days to get my maintenance requests taken care of. It wasn't until I threatened to report RW to my local news station that my requests were finally taken care of immediately. However, my experience with Kaitlyn M. at Renters Warehouse was excellent. She handled my maintenance requests expeditiously and initiated follow-up phone calls to make sure the maintenance was performed. The contractors RW sent out were professional and performed above and beyond. I wished my experience right out of the gate would have been better, but in the end, I am pleased with the resolution of the maintenance requests. read more
