I'm in the process of selling my electric vehicle. I loaned the car to a potential buyer who took the vehicle to Rob's for a presale inspection, which included using an OBD diagnostic tool to check the vehicle status and look for fault codes. The vehicle did return a handful of fault codes, which the buyer had understandable concerns about. However, ultimately some of the faults were outdated and could be cleared without issue, and the remaining faults were all addressable. The main issue was that Rob's reported the "battery capacity" to the buyer as "about half," which was an immediate deal breaker for the buyer. When he shared this with me, I was deeply confused, as the range of the vehicle is still close to 100% of what it was when it was new. Using my own OBD diagnostic tool, I confirmed that the battery health was near 100%, and that's when I realized what had happened: the technician at Rob's had misinterpreted the *current* state of charge (which was about 50% at the time of the inspection) as the batteries total capacity. Figuring that this would be a simple matter to clear up, I called Rob's and spoke the the technician. From the moment he picked up the phone, was combative and indignant, and refused to acknowledge the error. When asked if I could come by to have the car scanned with a fully charged battery to confirm the error, he said he would charge me for the full cost of another presale inspection. The mistake of the technician and total lack of accountability cost me the sale of my vehicle. If their techs don't understand the difference between a battery's state of charge and total capacity, I certainly wouldn't trust them to do any work on my vehicle. Recommend looking elsewhere. read more

STAY AWAY FROM ROB'S AUTO REPAIR!! I brought in my foreign-made car since my regular mechanic did not have a specific tool to service it after a minor accident. The radiator was damaged beyond repair, and the intercooler was cracked. I was advised to replace both. The intercooler was purchased used for $324.00. Seven months later, the intercooler started leaking again and this time I went back to my regular mechanic. It turned out that, if it was replaced at all, the used intercooler was already damaged and not bound to last long. Most likely, though, it was never replaced although I paid for the used replacement and labor. I e-mailed Rob's Auto for an explanation and a refund, but never heard back. read more

I couldn't find any place with availability or was able to fix it or was close to my house but I looked this place up and it had a lot of positive reviews. I have had my subaru forester worked on by Rob's Conoco for 10 years. He has kept it on the road and always at affordable prices. He understands budgets and helps to prioritize if things need to be replaced. The station has a homey 1950's feel to it. It is older, more of a mom and pop type establishment. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the newer stations, but what it does have that others don't is honest mechanics that keep your car on the road affordably. I always refer people to Rob. Used to be a great, honest repair shop. Took my truck in for brakes this week, had my catalytic converter stolen off my truck out of their lot over night and they basically told me it wasn't their problem and that it would be $2700 to repair. They have no cameras or security on their lot and this will continue to happen! Brought it in for brakes, picked it up essentially totaled. Take your car somewhere else where they take responsibility for the vehicles in their possession. read more

had issue with my '03 elantra starting. AAA jumped me and told me I should get my alternator and possibly my battery replaced. Dropped it off at this place on a sunday and said there was an issue with the battery and alternator. A less reputable place would easily have said yep and would have went ahead and replaced both but the mechanic I talked to was honest, told me the alternator was fine and a new battery was all I needed. I used to live smack in the middle of two awesome Conoco's that provide great service. At this Conoco you'll get great work at a fair price. One of my favorite times was when I needed a tire fixed and carried my busted one down there and had them fix it up. The down side to this Conoco is geography. It's in a great location, but it's extremely tough to get to. In addition to being difficult to access, it's got a very tiny lot (keep in mind that it also has gas pumps), and it's also difficult to drive out of due to the traffic lights at the intersection. But, if you need work done and can access this place, go for it. read more

We replaced a lost gas cap with an inexpensive one that wasn't working well, and we had a warning light staying on permanently. We took the car into Rob's and he called a nearby part store and asked them to hold a good replacement gas cap for us. We picked it up and came back to Rob's and he helped us replace the gas cap. We have always had very professional and good service from Rob's Village Conoco. I recommend this service station as extremely efficient with good service and reasonable prices. read more

So I'm just getting around to writing this review because I just finally signed up to Yelp. BUT, I have wanted to write a review for Rob's for a long time now (I had my last work performed at Rob's about a year ago). Anyways, Rob is the man. I had my Honda CR-V serviced at his auto repair shop several times while going to CU as a grad student. He diagnosed and fixed the car so that it was ready to pass CO's emission testing without much trouble. I was impressed since I went to another auto repair shop and they had recommended a totally different repair, which would have cost about $700 and would have involved cutting a part off of my car and soldering a new part on. So basically Rob saved me a butt load of money and a part of my car being melted off. Not bad. Beyond the good service, Rob also seems very trustworthy - an indispensable trait for mechanics. He always gave me a straight forward answer for what was wrong or not wrong with my car. He also did not try to hook me on repairs that I didn't need. For instance, I took my car in for Rob to look at its brakes, and he was good enough to tell me that I could "still get about 10,000 miles out of them before needing a new pair." I was very happy to have a mechanic that was watching out for my wallet, even if it wasn't going to help him out. This was especially nice being a grad student. If you have some car repair work that you want done in a fair way that doesn't leave you wondering if you're being cheated, then Rob's your guy. read more

What can I say? Rob's an honest mechanic and since my family is extensive and we need to not only maintain our cars but also keep an eye on the budget, we finally found the ideal car doc! There's no doubt in my mind that Rob's the ONLY honest and efficient, knowledgeable and talented mechanic in Boulder! When 5 mechanics tried to tell me (and charged me in the hundreds of $'s) that my truck was hopeless and it will never pass emissions, Rob gave me one of his cynical smiles and got the car done! It passed with flying colors. Despite of the garage being small and parking difficult, despite the no frills and thrills appearance of Rob's repair shop, this is the only place and mechanic in Boulder I would trust with my vehicle, safety and limited budget. The tire in my car picked up a nail and was nearly flat. I drove up without an appointment and the mechanic dropped what he was doing and plugged the hole and filled up the tire and had me on my way in a very short time, all for less than $19, and I even had out of state plates! We rolled into Boulder with our brakes making a lot of noise (despite just having the van serviced and told we still had 25% of the brakes remaining). It was on a Saturday, and I had a hard time finding someone who could work on it. Rob got us in jiffy quick and did a great job explaining what was wrong and what it would take to fix it. Robs conaco village is very trustworthy. I went in to get my power steering fluid flushed because it looked dark and grimy after a weekend on dirt roads. For those who don't know, this is not typically required maintenance. They took the time to ask why I felt I needed this work done. After I assured them it was a used purchase they proceeded to flush the fluid, twice, because it was so bad. Not only that, but they charged me half of what green garage quoted me.
