I've been a loyal customer and have placed multiple orders with Replacements, which makes this review especially disappointing. Recently, almost every order has had issues--missing items, broken pieces, incorrect items, and extremely slow customer service. Even getting photos from the image department has been unnecessarily difficult. The worst experience was receiving the wrong item. I was initially told the correct replacement would be sent at no extra cost. However, after the item's price increased from $259 to $299, I was asked to purchase it again. While I can't say why, the timing certainly raises concerns. For a company selling collectible and expensive items, this level of quality control and customer service is simply unacceptable. Oh this place is so much fun!! Stopped in here today because my mom was looking for some fiesta dishes that were discontinued. The dishes were in stock so my mom was excited. They are priced higher because most of the items are discontinued or harder to find. All of the employees were so helpful and very nice. This place is HUGE - we spent 2 hours in here and could honestly have spent more. They have a bargain area which we didn't even get to look at but I'm excited to go back to check it out. We found some really cute old world Christmas ornaments that I hadn't seen before. The estate jewelry section is amazing and so much fun to look at. A lot of the jewelry is stunning & I think it would be a great place to get some unique jewelry. My advice is do not attempt to sell to them. I purchased from replacements.com in the past to add to my collection. That was fine. I decided to sell my set (part of which I had purchased from them) and requested an offer from their website. The offer was pretty good so I purchased shipping supplies and boxes and packed everything up. It had been close to 30 days after I got the initial offer when it was set to expire so I requested a refreshed offer to ensure there would be no issues. I received an updated offer and used that to send in the dishes. They offered me 16% of the original offer saying they were no longer buying some pieces based on the first offer I received. They wouldn't honor the second offer. It cost me more to ship ( not to mention purchase supplies) then they offered to purchase. When I called they said they would check with a supervisor given my situation. That never happened and I never heard back. Then they said pieces were broken and sent photos - attached is a photo they sent me of an item "broken" during shipping. I had double wrapped everything with dishware insulation and bubble wrap. Then they said that certain items don't match the description. That is inaccurate - I have a very complete set of these and some of them had been purchased from Replacements.com. It's an absolute bait and switch. I can see that some of my items are already listed for sale on their website. Shame on me for not reading the reviews first. For some reason I thought this would be a reputable firm. It's not. I hope this review helps others not have the same experience. It's disheartening. I've asked for my items to be returned to me. They said they will only return the non-broken items and that I need to file a claim with the shipper for the broken items. Will have to wait and see if I get anything back. We ordered 4 bowls (Villeroy and Bosch's Petite Fleur pattern). They arrived with distasteful rust stains. We had to pay $32 to ship the merchandise back in order to receive a refund. Replacements is a very dangerous place. Over the course of our lives about a half dozen pieces had been bent or twisted or broken in half by the various garbage disposals we have been roommates with. We were already familiar with Replacements Ltd's website -- it is the go to source for hard to find replacement pieces when you break fine china or lose a piece of silver flatware. When I was looking for a source to repair some silverware, I was delighted to find that they have a physical location for sales and repairs, and that it was a mere 3 hours away. So we made a day trip out of it. This place is an antiquer's dream! The showroom itself is amazing! Everyone who works there seemed so friendly. And there are several rooms of well displayed jewelry, place settings, Christmas decorations, and silver pieces that were really a lot of fun to look at (in that "we like to visit antique stores kind of way.) We could have spent a lot of money there on fun stiuff. Very dangerous, indeed. There is a bargain room for odd lot pieces, and even a museum of rare or interesting china, including a place setting from the 1960's Lyndon Johnson White House. We ended up buying a few little pieces, and some Christmas decorations we could not live without. Beyond the showroom, there are (I think they said) five football fields of warehouse space supporting the website sales. This place is so big that they give tours for the public every hour or so. As to the repairs we were there for in the first place, a silversmith came up front and examined each item and gave us what we thought was a fair price (not cheap, but it's family silver so we felt it was worth it to repair) and he was clear about the limitations of what can be done on one piece that was particularly bad. I will update this review once we see the final results. My wife also brought along a broken plate that she wanted to replace but could not identify the pattern. They were very quick to search out the plate's pedigree, but they did not have it in their inventory (though they had had it in the past.) They flagged it in their computer and put it on my wife's "wish list" in their system in case it ever turns up again. So I recommend the website (you can search for it) as a key resource, and if you are in the Greensboro area this is one store that you really need to stop in if you have interest at all in beatiful jwelry, fine china, or Christmas decorations. read more

We heard about this place from a coworker and have driven by several times. For anyone that collects glassware or has heirloom china, this is the place to go. We also learned they provide help with silverware. We were in the area and decided to stop by in the early afternoon on a Friday. After walking inside, we were immediately amazed how big it is and we truly didn't know what to expect. We looked around for a moment and were greeted by Rosie. She made us feel comfortable asking about the few items we do collect, Pyrex, Blue Cornflower Corningware and Jadeite. She took us over to one of the kiosks and searched for an item of Corningware we have never seen in person. She explained to us that they have tens of thousands of pieces in their warehouse that can be pulled for customers to look at and purchase. The item we inquired about was not in stock but she put our name and email on the list should they get one. The system is first come, first serve after receiving an email about a particular item. Rosie then gave us an iPad to wander around with. There was a small area of Pyrex displayed as well that my wife wanted to check out. The Pyrex pieces were priced at a premium but it's good to know if you are looking for a particular piece and want to come physically look at it versus looking online and purchasing from someone like Etsy or eBay. We are fortunate enough in this area to have the opportunity to look at Replacements in person, while we suspect the majority of their customers are looking and purchasing online. While I have never had the pleasure of visiting the brick and mortar showroom in McLeansville, North Carolina, I have been a happy online customer of this business...Technically, the name is Replacements, Ltd. The business sells replacement pieces of fine china, dinnerware, crystal/glassware, silver and flatware. If storage were no object, I would have many set of china such is my love of setting a pretty table, mixing and matching and changing things up. My love is of vintage china and dinnerware. in particular. I found pieces for my mother's Noritake china pattern from the 1950s here. Many years ago I wasn't fond of the pattern and had it stored away in the attic. More recently, I dug it out and had another look see and I found that I like it now; the delicacy and simplicity of the design appeals to me. I took it out of the attic and into a cabinet and I use it. I was able to pick up a couple of missing pieces from shopping on the Replacements, Ltd website. Some time ago, I began a collection of "made in England" vintage dishes that I will describe as showcasing English scenes on them. They have a toile look to them. You are probably all familiar with these dishes that had a particular heyday in the 1950s and 1960s (although many of these dishes were made decades earlier and some patterns are still being made today but sadly, not in England). I remember all my aunts had sets of these every day dishes when I was growing up. These English scenes toile-looking dishes were originally made by companies like Wedgwood, Spode, Johnson Bros., Enoch Woods, Staffordshire, etc. I decided that I wanted to mix and match the vintage era English scenes dinnerware in the reddish pink and blue versions (other colors were made like green and brown). I paid no heed to the particular design...they are all different. They only had to be in either in the reddish-pink or the blue colors, had to be made in England, and had to be vintage era. I found my first couple of plates at a flea market, another one at the "swap shop" at our town dump (!) and another at a tag sale. My collection was growing slowly however so I decided to investigate what Replacements, Ltd. had to offer. What a bonanza! I was able to find a wide variety of these vintage dinner plates, bowls, luncheon and salad plates, cups and saucers. So lately, I have been using the English scenes dishes...mixing and matching the reddish pink and blue dishes at the same table with great fun and effect. People always comment! Many people have memories of these dishes from their own families growing up. They seem to like comparing the scenes on one plate or another. They have made for interesting conversation at the table. And the table looks pretty especially with the addition of small bouquets of English roses or other flowers. It's a very different look than say using my mother's china, or my collection of Italian Deruta maiolica or the handmade pottery pieces I have collected over the years....With having some collections, you can switch things up as the mood strikes. Replacements, Ltd. only sells things that are in excellent shape. Nothing I have purchased has any cracks, chips or crazing. Things are sent with care, boxed up beautifully and items arrive quickly. I also follow Replacements, Ltd. on Instagram. They regularly post photos of tablescapes that one person or another has put together mixing and matching various china patterns. I find this so interesting and it has given me my own ideas. One of my resolutions several years ago was to use all the lovely things I have whether bought, gifted to me or inherited. For example, I no longer "save" fine china for "special" times. Even if it is just my husband and me eating together I use a variety of what we have including the fine china say on a Tuesday night. Why not look at and use the things we love, every day? What are we saving things for hidden out of sight? If something breaks it breaks and at least I can say it was loved and used...and appreciated. But the good news is that if something breaks and you want to replace it, chances are you will find that replacement piece at this business. Baldwin brass has never been made in China. Color was orange in tone, scratched, and one was also dented at the bottom. I ordered some dishes and some cloth placemats and napkins from Replacements. After placing my initial order, I asked if I could add 8 small side plates to the order. Customer service advised me that this would incur additional shipping costs of $100 (I live in Australia). I asked customer service to double check the rate as this seemed high and they informed me that, due to the additional dishes, shipping my order would now require two boxes rather than one. Reluctantly I agreed to the additional costs. When I received my two large boxes, one box contained all of the dishes, nicely packed but with plenty of room as it was also full of popcorn filling. When I went to unpack my second box, it was empty except for 8 cloth placemats and napkins and 95% popcorn filling. These cloth items would (easily) have fit on top of the first box and provided additional protection for the dishes. I was basically charged to ship a large box of popcorn across the world. I then contacted Replacements and asked for a refund of the shipping fees for the second box. I assumed it would be a no brainer as any business (should) agree that charging a customer $100 to send out a large box containing only small cloth items was ridiculous. Instead I received a silly response stating that the second box was necessary to ensure all of my items arrived safely. When I questioned exactly how removing cloth placemats from a box of dishes increased the safety I didn't get a response. Not only were their shipping rates outrageous to start with, at the very least they could have shipped the placemats in a box 1/10th of the size of the box they sent. Think of the warehouse panned at the end of the movie, Raiders of the Lost Ark. Massive, filled with crates and boxes nearly to the ceiling. Now think of a warehouse beautifully organized, neat as a pin, masses of items shelved and labeled. Beautiful and amazing to experience. We thought it was just an internet resource until my wife broke the gravy boat from our dinner china. "THEY HAD IT, IN STOCK," my wife proudly exclaimed. Free shipping if it is over a certain amount, but rather than ship, we decided to make it an adventure and drive the two house up I85 North. So glad we did. I am not a shopper, nor am I into china, crystal, estate jewelry or collections of such. And here I was, certainly accompanied by a women, walking into a beautiful display of displays, loaded with women, women and women. THEY were into this stuff and all I wanted was a gravy boat. Hard to adequately describe but profoundly interesting. There is one section of Christmas stuff, displays grouped origin or style, and their museum area was stunning. We just drifted around, not touching, with the other women. A tour of the back-room area warehouse is offered on the hour from 10am - 5pm. I purchased Stoneware dinner plates and salad plates from Replacements Ltd as this was the only place that had dishes that matched the dinnerware I had for 17 years and unfortunately some of the plates had gotten broken over the years. Anyways, I ordered the dinner and salad plates and when they arrived several were broken and some of the dinner and salad plates had cracks or deep scratches. I spoke to a lady at Replacements ltd and explained the situation and she offered to send me new plates to replace the damaged plates. After I received the new plates I again saw deep scratches that had broken the glaze seal on the stoneware. Anyone who knows anything about stoneware knows once the glaze has been broken any way it is vulnerable to more damage every time they are put into a dishwasher with the heat and hot water. I could drag my finger across the scratch and my fingernail would catch. From experience with stoneware this is actually a crack. A scratch will not catch your fingernail or a cloth moving across the surface. So again I contacted Replacements Ltd and was told that it was only a 'little scratch' and she would do nothing about it. I just had to live with it. Is this the way you treat customers that spend hundreds of $$$ with this company? I really hope not. If it had only been a light scratch that did not break the glaze then I never would have contacted them again. I don't think I could trust them with good china..... read more

I was getting ready to add a 5 star rating and am astounded by the bad reviews and your lead and suggestn you lead with my review instead. I felt compelled to counter the petty reviews. If I could I would give them six stars. I recently exchanged a set and added to or ordered missing pieces for my other dinner sets. All perfect. Their people were patient when I changed my order several times and as always my experience was nothing but Southern Hospitality. Let me adddres some of the complaints. In the past they exchanged the one flaw promptly. Their shipping takes about a week because they have so many palets that come each day to unload and orders to process. Everything they send is perfectly protected and I have never had a single broken piece. The Customer Service Manager goes above and beyond to make you happy.
