I was getting ready to add a 5 star rating and am astounded by the bad reviews and your lead and suggestn you lead with my review instead. I felt compelled to counter the petty reviews. If I could I would give them six stars. I recently exchanged a set and added to or ordered missing pieces for my other dinner sets. All perfect. Their people were patient when I changed my order several times and as always my experience was nothing but Southern Hospitality. Let me adddres some of the complaints. In the past they exchanged the one flaw promptly. Their shipping takes about a week because they have so many palets that come each day to unload and orders to process. Everything they send is perfectly protected and I have never had a single broken piece. The Customer Service Manager goes above and beyond to make you happy. When the neighbor's kid breaks one of your Grandma's heirloom crystal wine glass, the manufacturer goes out of business before you've completed your set of wedding china, or the dishwasher mangles a piece of your flatware, who you gonna call? Replacements! They will replace your piece or even repair it for you! If, by some odd reason (because they have everything!!) they do not have your piece in stock, they will find it for you! When my bonehead boyfriend put my heirloom family silver in the dishwasher and it got twisted into a pretzel, Replacements rescued it (and him, from my wrath) with a repair job that looks like nothing ever happened. I began collecting Avon's 1876 Cape Cod collection of glassware and dinnerware back in 1980, and Avon discontinued it before I had the full set of the 12 place settings I wanted. A few years ago, I ran across two old dishes in the garage. No idea where they came from or how I got them. All I knew was that I thought they were really cool and wanted more of them. I looked online and found the manufacturer and the pattern, but it had been discontinued years back. Since then, I've been hitting up all the local yard sales and flea markets hoping to find a few more of them but without luck. I know, I know, you're asking yourself, "Brad, why didn't you just search online?" I must confess that I'm a yard sale junkie and love hunting for treasures, but after zero luck for all that time, I caved and did just that. I sent them a Nambe crystal wine decanter and 2 rock glasses that were brand new, never used and stored in the original box with custom foam to exactly fit all items, for 12 years. The costs ship my items to them was ridiculous. After they received it, they responded saying one of the glasses had excessive scratches and would not buy it. This was not true since these items were never removed from their protective box. I requested they return my items and they did so but WITHOUT the original box. Unbelievable! IF YOU GET "JANICE" ON THE PHONE, JUST HANG UP. oh my goodness what a difference one call can make in the way one feels about a company. and keep in mind i love(d) this company. i called in after my last review to ask replacements to take me off of their mailing list as i don't want a bunch of paper around. the guy was super nice and did it. apparently somehow i have two accounts there, however, and received a 35 page catalog from them. when i called to ask them to remove me again, i got janice. she found my account via my phone number and said they didn't have an address attached, that i must have gotten a piece of mail from another company. i read the address to her, which is replacements. i've attached a pic to show it was replacements. when i read the address from the "catalog" she said "we don't have catalogs, we only send brochures" um... ok, that's fine... it's still a 35 page "brochure" from replacements. she then said they did not have anything that was 35 pages and insisted that the mailer wasn't from replacements, even after i had already read her the adderss. she also supposedly looked up my name and said i wasn't in the system, even after saying i was in there twice. at this point i was getting incredibly frustrated, going nowhere and hung up. i called back and (of course!) got janice again. i immediately asked for another person, but janice said "oh someone told me we do have a 35 page catalog" and tried to be all nice about it. i demanded to talk with someone else as i wasn't going to spend my time talking with a woman who had *repeatedly* refuted what i was saying and couldn't find my "other" account. i was finally transferred (after much hesitation on janice's part because she knew i was going to be chatting with the manager of the department, dee) with a "well i certainly will transfer you" or some such parting jab. turns out dee had overheard the bit of the conversation where janice said that replacements didn't have a 35 page catalog and let her know that they did have one. dee was super apologetic and said she would listen to the rest of the conversation, as i said if she only heard the first part, she wouldn't hear all the times janice had effectively called me a liar and couldn't find my name in the system! (which dee did *immediately*!) apparently dee had given all of her customer service reps the information about the catalog and janice simply hadn't bothered to look at it. dee was incredibly apologetic about the situation, but still. i had to deal with janice. two stars for dee's sweet nature. three stars deducted overall for janice's rude demanor and not being able to find my easy to spell name/account. read more

They buy and sell fine china, everyday dishes, crystal, figurines, gnomes, silver serving pieces, and now fine estate jewelry. My experiences buying from them is different from my selling experience. Buying- I have nothing but good experience from buying from them. It's easy. If you are looking for something that they don't have you are able to add it to your "want List" and they will email you when they locate it. I have purchased directly inside the store as well as from the website. Like I said, it is easy and safe. Selling- Selling is a little more complicated. You don't just show up with item unannounced and sell them. You must get a customer number first. Then you fill out a "Sell to us request form" where you select the pattern name you are attempting to sell. They quickly email you back with an offer to buy. The offer lists all of the pieces in that pattern, the price they are offering for that piece if they are buying it at this moment. At that point, if you are interested in selling your items to them you schedule an appointment to deliver your items if you live close. If you live far away you schedule delivery by mail. Once your items arrive they are evaluated by an employee to check for any cracks, chips, crazing, excessive wear, and scratches. You may be offered a reduced amount if your piece is slightly imperfect. If it's not in good shape- you'll get your item back. If they are currently overstocked in an item you may check back each month and they may be taking it at that time. Everyone was very friendly to me and were eager to answer any question. read more

My mom used to talk about this place, even 20 years ago, before the internet. They essentially own the China patterns for just about ANY ceramic pattern that you can think of, especially the high end companies like Royal Dalton, Lenox, Noritake, Haviland Limoge, Ansley by Penbroke and others. My mother was into all these items and patterns, and now I have inherited her interest. So, if you broke a plate or cup to someone's set that they inherited and want to replace it, this place will have it. But, that means that it probably won't come cheap. This isn't the place to bargain shop, but to rather find replacements to older items that are no longer on the market new. They also sell vintage and estate jewelry, including Victorian and Edwardian pieces that reflect European cut diamonds (prior to when diamonds were cut my machine). Make sure that you look at everything under a loop. The entire location is 6 football fields large. But, the showroom is smaller and more manageable, although they do have tours every hour. Keep in mind that they close at 6pm and are not open on Sundays. They also have a museum college of tiny cordial glasses and sterling silver in the back, so it's like taking a trip back in time. I placed an order using a $20.00 coupon code (their on-line system allowed me to use it) and once the order was placed they changed the coupon to $10.00 and charged my credit card a different amount. When I called about it they said the code wasn't good any longer or you could only use the code twice. It allowed me to use it. You don't change the amount charged to someone's credit card without their knowledge. I love Replacements! But this was wrong! read more

I received plates that were in good condition, as pictured. However I called up to ask a simple question about obtaining the invoices, as there was a problem with my login, and the customer service rep was incredibly rude. Instead of answering my question, he spoke to me as if I'm a computer illiterate. The question could have been answered with two simple sentences. Instead, he started explaining: 1-how to create an account (detailed directions); 2-the benefits of having an account (detailed description) He went on and on and wouldn't listen to me so I could get an answer. When I finally asked him to be still and listen to my question, he said, if you don't want me to speak, then we will scan in the invoices and email them to you. Again I said, please tell me how to find the invoice. In the end, amidst a lot of unncecesary verbiage. I was finally able to ascertain the answer: 1-create a new account; 2-click on order history and you'll find all the receipts He could have said that to begin with and we could have finished in one minute. But to give me a long unnecessary soliloquy and not listen to a word I was saying, is rude and offputting. So much so that despite the fact that I was satisfied with the order, I don't want to do business with this company again. I ordered a Department 56 piece called Christmas Dinner Table from the All Through the House Christmas porcelain collection. I have a number of these pieces. They are beautiful and pricey. When the $130 dinner piece arrived I was very disappointed. It was carefully packaged with return information and a very nice letter from Bob Page, Founder and CEO. Sadly I was very disappointed with the piece. It looked like cheap junk. I'm not faulting Replacements, Ltd. I rewrapped the piece and sadly spent $40 to return it via UPS. It was re-returned to my local UPS store. Apparently, in small print, Replacements, Ltd. does not accept UPS deliveries. The UPS store man was just as confused as I was. I contacted Replacements Ltd. via their website. And have heard NOTHING. This does not make me very happy. Apparently I'm now stuck with this hideous piece plus my useless UPS charge. I have some very expensive china that I wanted to sell to Replacements Ltd. They sent me their offer list. A dinner plate that they offered to buy from me for $60 was being offered on their website for $400. A casserole dish that they offered to buy from me for $200 was being offered on their website for almost $2,000. I can see them doubling or even tripling the price on their website but I find their lowball offers to be robbery. I am surprisingly disappointed by recent customer service from Replacements. I even wrote to the owner asking for follow up with no reply. Spent a great deal of time with Replacements customer service confirming that the knife handle on a certain remanufactured item matched my wife's pattern. Ordered 4 knives to be sure. They were correct. Ordered the second set of 4 knives. They were not correct. They did take the 4 incorrect ones back. But since these are re-manufactured by putting a new serrated blade in a vintage handle, it seems they could help me out with this.
