I rarely leave negative reviews, but after months of trying to resolve this issue, I feel others should be aware of our experience. We canceled our Republic trash service after switching providers and requested pickup of the second recycling cart we had been paying for. We were told there would be a **$70 fee to pick up the garbage cart** and a **$40 fee to pick up the second recycling cart**. During our first call, we were instructed to place the recycling cart at the road for pickup. We did exactly that. No one came. Since then, we have contacted Republic multiple times. Each time we were told the issue had been resolved or that someone would come pick up the cart. Despite those assurances, the recycling cart remains at the roadside. Meanwhile, we have continued receiving bills for the recycling service, and my husband has even received collection calls over the disputed charges. We also contacted Allegan County Resource Recovery, who attempted to help resolve the situation. They were unable to explain why the cart had not been picked up and why the billing issue continued. They also questioned why we were being charged so much for a second recycling cart, as they indicated the additional monthly cost is typically much lower than what we had been paying. This entire situation could have been avoided with proper communication and follow through. Instead, we've spent significant time making repeated phone calls, trying to correct billing errors, and attempting to have a recycling cart removed that has been sitting at the road exactly where Republic instructed us to leave it. We are still working to get this resolved. I hope Republic takes this feedback seriously and improves its customer service, communication, billing practices, and follow through so other customers don't have the same experience. read more

They agreed to drop charges for June and the late fee and took final payment over the phone. On Thursday they send me an overdue note for the dropped charges. read more

They change their pricing constantly, don't keep track of communications, and if you try to cancel- they will give you a promo price but only for one cycle and not tell you. I've never called and been on the phone for less than 30 minutes. they charge you a ridiculous amount of fees just to cancel your service. Request requested a final invoice through the mail which took months to arrive. They aren't even being environmentally friendly like they say. Once I canceled my account through them about 2 weeks early. My trash can was taken the first week of January by Republic after spending so much time on hold that I started tracking the time I spent on 12 hours on hold in January. I was told that I was going to receive a replacement on 2/2 which never materialize. I live on a private road in Delton, Michigan. The road has been good for the past two weeks and no pick up supposedly due to road conditions. I call Republic and they tell me driver is on his way but never shows up. A group of us are ready to find a different trash company. This is absolutely ridiculous. I was a customer of Republic Services for 25+ years and I paid my bill on time, every time. The price for weekly trash removal just kept creeping higher and higher, finally reaching $140+ a quarter. I called to cancel my service in early December 2025. My account was paid up to the end of December. After calling AGAIN to "remind" them that they still had not picked up the dumpster, the retrieved it and I thought I was done with them. But NO...in January, they send me a bill for $61. I called to ask why I got another bill and was told that it was the FEE for removing the dumpster!!! I explained that I was never made aware of a fee and requested to have a supervisor contact me. Still no contact from them but another bill threatening legal action. I would give Republic Services a zero if I could. The pickup service for the past 2 years was fine, but when it came time to cancel because our business lease was up, they refused to cancel our service! They said that we were "scheduled" through September, but we never signed any contract. In later phone calls, we were told our service was scheduled to end in October. Our lease ended on 8/31, and we are no longer at our old warehouse. A new tenant was moving in as of 9/1, and we didn't want them to be using our dumpsters, both garbage and recycling, and we certainly didn't want to be charged for it. After repeated calls to customer service reps, who were terrible and refused to listen, we have now been sent a bill for September, and have been receiving collection calls. I even tried contacting customer service on X, and got the same pat answer - "your service will end on 10/31". I have date- and time-stamped photos showing that the bins were empty of of 8/31. For the past month, not only have we been harassed by phone, we have also been receiving emails saying "your service is on its way". DO NOT do business with this company!!! read more

In just two years, my trash bill has gone up just about 90% and I just received a generic letter titled "Valued Customer" to inform me that they had completed an account review and informed me that I wasn't paying a few fees (18% increase) that would push my bill well over double what it was two years ago. When I told them I was switching service they said I would be charged $60 for a dumpster pick-up fee. Their greed is amazing. They can continue operating without my money. Never again. This company can't get anything right. Don't schedule your container pick up at the beginning of the month, you will still be billed for service until the end of the month. If you are on a seasonal hold, you have to take that off hold before they'll schedule a container pickup. I've been billed for services even while on a seasonal hold. They send invoices with new monthly charges and never show your overpayment credits on the invoice. Find service elsewhere! If you're on auto-pay and use seasonal holds, check your bills. They even told me I had no credits on my account, the next time I called the person I spoke with found $140 of my credits 'in another system program'. I bet this has happened to thousands of others. You cannot rely on Republic for yard waste pickup every week. They have already missed my yard waste pickup for two weeks in a row so yesterday I called the office and was assured they would come for my yard waste pickup which they did not. Why am I paying for yard waste when they can't even come by for a pickup? They're website says "reliable service" well they must be joking bc now all my yard waste is covered in snow bc they are three weeks behind. If I could give it a ZERO I would. Almost three years and have yet to receive an accurate bill. If calling them EVERY SINGLE billing cycle weren't enough, they haven't picked up my recycling in 4 1/2 weeks and, despite calling for the last three days, the latest rep said she shows NO RECORDS of any of my calls. They tell you EVERY SINGLE time (as I am sure they have been trained by corporate), that your problem is resolved, whether related to billing or collection of trash, and EVERY SINGLE TIME it is not. We continue to have issues with our services, not only do we pay a high amount, our trash and yard waste have been missed multiple times without notifications. We've had to replace one garbage can due to this issue. It's is extremely hot out again our garbage was to be picked up Friday, I reported missed pick up Saturday morning, it is still sitting there not picked up as of this morning. Unacceptable, as no one contacted us or apologized for missed pick up. Our yard waste was not picked up Friday, however they did grab it Saturday after I reported it was a miss pick-up. my father used Republic Services fo over 20 years. last few quarters I noticed the bill was increased whe I called to asked about the increase I was told because of gas prices. I have been a loyal customer for over 7 years. I pay my bill in full once a year, yet Republic doesn't care about missed pick up's and refunds they owe for over 6 months. I just want to say how thankful and how much I appreciate the gentlemen who walked up my driveway to get my trash. We were not in town for the trash pick up over the holiday and I called in for a missed pick up, the customer service lady stated to me that they would not be coming out other than my original next pick up date. I came home to realize my trash was picked up and the gentlemen walked up my driveway to get the trash, because I unfortunately did not get it down to the road as I was under the impression it would not be picked up earlier. We moved into our house 11/11 and set up service 11/13 then we paid our first bill and they collected our garbage can and said my service was inactive due to a delinquent balance of $94 only to find out it was from the previous owners of the house (the billing date was 11/11) so then I get another bill for charges for picking up and dropping off my garbage can and the recycle bin which they didn't even take because it was in my garage lol and they charged us $63 for gas for their truck.... Republic is Trash...pun intended. We signed up for them and paid a new service fee. It was easy because we already had the cans at the house from the previous owner. When signing up we asked about additional fees and were told there were none. The first bill arrived and we not only had a fuel fee but also an administration fee right after paying start up costs. So we cancelled and went with a more local company. We were charged a fee for leaving and then Republic picked up our bins 3 days earlier than we had agreed leaving us with nowhere to put trash bags for 3 days. A month goes by and we get a late service bill from them saying that our payment is past due. When we called they told us that the bill should be zeroed out in 2 days.
