Republic seems to deserve everyone's business for their honesty about shoe sizes. How many shoe stores have I not been to, including online, only to hear that wide (or narrow) simply isn't available. Republic didn't have the color I wanted on the shelf so they got it from the back. They also pulled out the catalog to show amy other colors they can order, in multiple widths if need be. Great customer service. It appears this is now my go to place for Florsheim, New Balance, Rockport and Dunham shoes though they certainly have more. I have trouble finding shoes that fit, and I don't like ordering online. I want to see and feel how the shoes interact with my feet before making a purchase. Plus, I want to be able to walk out with the pair I select. I don't want to wait around for them to be shipped. Republic Shoes actually specializes in hard to find fits, so they will likely have just what you are looking for. Again, the service was spectacular. I never had to lift a finger or toe to try on anything. That level of service comes at a price. My shoes were $170 before tax. I searched the same pair online and found an average price of $155. All my life, it has be a true challenge to find attractive & comfortable shoes for my feet. My feet are flat, wide and about 10.5 to 11.5 depending on style. I'm 30 and I don't want it blatantly obvious that I'm wearing orthopedic shoes. Republic Shoes possesses an incredulous variety of shoes that fit my feet. The styles were genuinely attractive and were comfortable on my feet. in addition, I have an overstretched tendon in one foot and the shoes accommodates that as well. Joe was attentive to all of the concerns regarding my feet, and he was able to find beautiful women's that fit me. I specify women's shoes because many times I have to purchase men's shoes. As an added bonus, Republic Shoes even had a sale the day I went. A whole 50% off on some styles! I've been to SAS and and other specialty stores. Sales like that are few and far between. Joe patiently assisted me with over 25 pairs of shoes! I'm not exaggerating. But what really blew my mind was the fact that I was trying on shoes I was honestly attracted to. The selection was that expansive! Republic Shoes has been there for well over 40 years. I'm in the Springs and was recommended to do the drive to Denver to see visit them. I finished my night with a total of 5 shoes. I have never purchased so many shoes in one setting. It was totally worth it. I am so confident with each pair I purchased. Come with me on my quest to find a decent pair of size 16 dress shoes. Sure, I could have gone to a Casual Male and gotten myself a pair of $50 Sketchers, but on a whim, I decided instead to hit Republic Shoes, Est'd.. well.. a long ass time ago. On the outside, this store doesn't look like much; it's in a greasy little shopping center, across from greasy little apartments in a greasy little part of town, however, inside, they're pretty ritzy. They don't exactly have the largest selection around, but they do carry some incredibly nice footwear. Their selection includes but is not limited to, Allen Edmonds, Alden, Bostonian, Rockport, SAS, Havana Joe, Cole Haan, Johnston and Murphy, Ecco, Clarks, Sebago, Wolky, Beautifeel, Taryn Rose, Joel Parker, Rangoni, Amalfi, Stuart Weitzman, SAS, Munro, Trotters, New Balance, and various other low-end to high-end brands. So why the so-so star rating? Well, that would have to be their actual sales method, not only were there no listed prices, but not until actually getting my pair of Ecco's (That's a Slovakian brand, not the yo-yo-homie-gangsta brand) to the counter, was I given my price, a FAT two -hundred bucks. I swallowed my pride and took out my wallet, card swiped, money gone. Less than an hour later, I had a change of heart, why buy one pair of high-end shoes for $200, when I could buy 4 pairs of so-so shoes for the same price? Which brings me to my major hang-up, a SHIT, yes, you read right, a SHIT return policy. Before you buy shoes here, make sure that you really want them, because they will NOT refund your money. Yes, they will give you store credit or make an exchange, but there's no way you're getting your money back. I'm a nice guy, so I was quite congenial and didn't raise even the smallest stink. I smiled, said I understood, shook a clammy hand, of the man who I am sure was expecting me to eviscerate him, then retreated to my car, defeated and stuck with a pair of shoes (Really nice shoes) that I am afraid to wear because I don't want to scuff them. If you're a big spender and have yourself some big feet, then Republic Shoes is for you, but if you're like me, a middle-class office slave, then stick with the pair of hideous New Balance sneakers you bought at Ross for Less, your wallet will thank you. read more

AVOID AT ALL COST!! Our family recently had the same experience with their BS no money back, return only for store credit, return policy. After purchasing some overpriced running shoes, (charging over the list price in this day and age is insane and this company must be heading our of business very soon) and never having worn them, we tried to return the shoes for cash. They were already charging $30 over the MSRP and forced us into buying ANOTHER pair of overpriced shoes, rather than refunding our money. A quick check online showed that even Nordstrom was $35 cheaper for the same non-specialty shoes. Although the replacement shoes were $5 cheaper, they would not pry even a 5-spot out of their cash register, but instead issued store credit. This crazy and stupid short-sighted business practice should not be supported by the community. Please shop somewhere, ANYWHERE else. read more

Dov and Steve, the owners did a great job and was very nice and helpful in finding the right shoe for my wife and daughter. Since Birkenstocks are hot now, they went above and beyond to seek out the right fit and the right style and color. Of course good quality is not cheap, I know that and most know that. The store goes above and beyond to help you. This type of personalized service you will not receive on Amazon or even at Nordstrom's. It's the little things that you remember like being offered a bottle of water and offers of assistance to go back and forth trying on exponential sizes and colors and style variations. I'm a 6'4 26 year old guy working and going to school. I needed some higher end shoes for business and pleasure and went here to buy some eccos I've had trouble finding (since they have been discontinued). I was shocked that the shoes I've ALWAYS paid $175 for (from Ecco corporate) was priced at $205. They had 2 pairs left in my size (15) so I bought both pairs and walked out. I decided to stop by Nordstroms on my way home to see what they had and I was told that the EXACT same shoes I just bought for $205 a pair could be ordered for me from their remaining inventory in other stores for the sale price of $115. WOW, I was so excited, I ordered 4 pairs from Nordstroms and decided to return my first 2 pair of shoes to Republic Shoes the next day. I came into the store and explained my situation thanked them for all the help but based on finances I decided to go a different route and they wouldn't take the shoes back and give me a refund. I had the receipt, the shoes had never been worn and were purchased 1 day earlier. They would give me store credit but not my money back. I've shopped at stores all over the world when I travel and have never run into anything like this other than on specialty or custom made items. This is stupid. I'm a working student and they wouldn't work with me at all. I will never shop here again. Even if I have to pay a premium to go out of my way to shop elsewhere I will. Bad customer service, bad return policy and over priced shoes that are out of style or discontinued. Even when the shoes at Nordstroms weren't on sale they were still $30 dollars cheaper than Republic. Give me a break. Tales of a size 4.5 narrow. Let me just tell you, there is really no where to go when you have a foot the size of a 5 year old child. I am a 30 year old career woman and I need comfortable shoes that I can wear non stop, but are also 'fancy'. I am not a snob, but I do like the 'labels', but comfort and fit is also a major factor for me. Which brings me to Republic Shoes. I was in town for a conference and the airline lost my luggage, and I did a quick google search and to my surprise I found Republic Shoes, which caters to people with hard to fit sizes. Upon my arrival, I was immediately greeted by the cutest little man who told me he was the owner. I told him what I needed, and he showed me a great selection of low to high end shoes IN MY SIZE. I must admit this was one of the best customer service experiences I have ever had. I ended up purchasing 3 pairs of gorgeous pumps. And because I was traveling he offered to ship the other two pair at his expense to my home address. He gave me his card and told me to give him a call whenever I need shoes in my size and he would research and send me pairs for me to try. This was probably one of the best shoe buying experiences in my entire life and I only wish they would open a Republic shoes in San Francisco. read more

I have a case of cerebral palsy, and I have Ankle problems back problems and knee problems. I have tried to find shoes that would help fix These issues but I have not been able to. Every shoe store I have been to have said that I wear shoe size 9, and I just thought that was correct. But then I came to Republic Shoes and they took the time to size my foot the correct way, and it turns out I am not a size 9 at all in actuality I am a size 11 and as soon as I put my feet into a shoe size 11, And started walking around in it my back pain, my ankle pain, and my knee pain have lessened and I am able to walk around in comfort that was an amazing experience at Republic Shoes. read more

If you they don't have the color you like, they'll order it for you or ship it to you. The man who helped me, Joe, practically offered to drive the shoes across town for me. I used to go to this shoe store as I wear a narrow and am hard to fit. The last time I was there (about 4 years ago), the manager/owner, Dove asked what I wanted to try on. I showed him 2 styles and told him I wore a 9 1/2AA. As if I wouldn't notice, he brought out two pair of 8 1/2 AAA and stock was low right now. Never again. Recently, I bought a pair of New Balance shoes from Republic Shoes in the University Hills Shopping Center and within a week noticed that they were defective. Upon trying to return the shoes for a refund I was told that this was not their policy. I was told that they would try and find something else that would work. While this was going on, I asked if since the shoes were defective, would they return them to New Balance and get a refund? I was told by the store owner that they would receive a full refund from New Balance for their investment. I asked then since that was the case, if I could receive a refund and be on my way. He denied me a refund, I even offered to pay a restocking fee of at least 15% to cover their shipping costs and the time that they worked with me. Keep in mind that I paid $180.00 total for these shoes, which means I would have just given them $27.00 for their time. I was denied that and told that I would just get a store credit if I could not find anything suitable. This was frustrating since that meant they would keep my money and not have earned it by giving me anything I could wear. I was polite and said that I just wanted to make it a win win and this did not work either. The store owner then just walked away from me while an employee continued to try and find a pair of shoes for me. I let the employee know that I could just return the defective shoes and contest the charge with my credit agency, this is when he became loud and rude and stated, " You can try that but it'll never work, that never works for anybody." I explained to him that I don't have the finances to just take a credit and go somewhere else for shoes at which point he said, "Well it sounds like you need a better job or at least need to find some side work." In the end I settled for a pair of shoes which retail from New Balance at $140.00 and a *free* pair of insoles which would make them fit more comfortably. The sales associate said he would just be, "...giving these insoles away to me...a value of thirty nine dollars ... I am just giving you thirty nine dollars." I asked if the shoes he just gave me in exchange retail for the same amount and he told me that they did. Let's do some math now and compare $140.00 to $180.00. This experience is disappointing for a couple of reasons, one is that my initial visit was pleasant and I was made to feel welcome and was told that I was going to be taken care of, no matter the circumstance should the shoe not work out, by the owner. My follow up visit was a Jekyll and Hyde experience, having the owner treat me with indifference and neglect. C'mon, I offered to give him money even though they will be getting a full refund on the defective product. Oh and by the way, I was told I was not allowed to leave the store with the replacement shoes and original purchase receipt. Even though it is a carbon copy of which they still retain the original. Just a tad shady in my opinion, I would've needed it in order to contest it with my credit agency. Why did I not contest it? I need some shoes on my feet, and I just don't have any more time for this nonsense. I will never return to this store and will ensure that local residents are aware of their poor return policy and downright rude ownership and sales staff. I was not getting my money back so I settled, next time I need shoes I will be shopping elsewhere. read more

Exceedingly accomplished Vultures. Buzzards and Cock Roaches that operate as a team, will promise that you can bring home the pair, and if you don't like, "we'll gladly refund your money". Not quite so fast bucco---- the story suddenly changes when the product doesn't work out, and you are told NOW your only option is to find another pair which is often not there b/c they are so low on stock. There is no such thing as an in-store credit at Republic Shoes in Denver. Dove ,the Owner/manager tried to high pressure me into a completely different shoe that was too wide and another one that was too uncomfortable (as the pads underneath were a mess) I innocently asked when he MIGHT be getting in some new arrivals and came unglued. He told me in an angry voice that I should give my credit to a homeless person who could Really use it. Then he said it again and again like,a nut job. Feeling like I had probably butted up against a very unstable individual, I chose to quietly walk out, despite the fact that he's hurling insults over his shoulder as he's walking all the way back to the storage area. As I left ,I overheard the "boys" loudly calling insults from the back room that were intended to eviscerate. Bunch of Jackals. Customer Service is nonexistent. I had a different experience from some others and, yes, they don't sell cheap shoes. And yes, I'm so happy I stopped in. My sister lives in Boulder and I'm a national tour as an entertainer. Over the past 7 years I've bought virtually all my shoes from a famous chain that promises you pay less, with no problem. While in South Dakota I bought a new pair of shoes from that OTHER chain. By Friday as I was arriving in CO I was in ENORMOUS pain and LIMPING. I have never had shoes made of such cheap material. I called around Boulder to see if places had my small size (7 to 7 1/2) and the ones I called did not or they only had boots. I saw this store offering many sizes and called them. They had it and I came in. I had also earlier been looking for my size in SAS shoes, which are extremely expensive but I had a pair years ago and they lasted forever -- only stopped using them after they didn't fit after special devices were put in my shoes. The sales person I had showed me some options -- all very expensive. But I saw the SAS shoes and we narrowed it down. I am EXTREMELY happy I stopped in Republic Shoes. These shoes will save me the yearly (or more frequent) stop at that other chain that sold me shoes that put me in enormous pain. I KNOW SAS shoes last. And there was no baloney in trying to push something on me. I chose the shoes I bought that are ABSOLUTELY PERFECT. So, no, you can't get cheap shoes there. And YES they do have a selection which included my smaller size. And YES the salesperson was extremely helping in making sure I had the right size and style. AND YES if I have to buy shoes in the future and I can time it, I'll visit my sister in Boulder and come to this store again. ). read more

When we first walked into Republic shoes I was genuinely excited. It was the first store with wide sizes to have actually fashionable shoes. However as soon as we flipped over the first shoe and took in the 300 dollar price tag, we realized our excitement may have been unwarranted. The salesman was quick to inform us that the CHEAPEST pair of shoes was 150 dollars and that if we ever won the lottery we should feel free to come back. I understand that quality shoes are expensive but there was no need for the sales staff to be so condescending. I went to republic Shoes primarily because they were recommended to me by my podiatrist as a place that could really fit me right and get me into a quality shoe. I have a very wide foot and have found buying shoes to be a big pain. This store had a nice selection of classy and quality footwear that was exactly what I was looking for. I ended up buying 2 pairs of shoes and they gave me a $10 discount off the prices. The shoes were not cheap, but I was able to get shoes that I feel confident and comfortable in. Bought a pair of work shoes from Republic Shoes I have a very long narrow foot and it is hard to get shoes to fit. I felt the clerks work on commission. I needed a pair of work shoes not a whole new closet of shoes. My focus was to get a good quality shoe slip resistant that fit my foot. I did get them but not without having to be shown shoes I was not interested They even in put a shoes brush in that I was charged for without being asked if I wanted it. I'm sure if I needed a shoe brush I am capable of getting my own brush without running up my bill. Also heard the same line over and again to guests in store to buy more then one pair of shoes to make them last. Hey if I came in once I am sure I can make it back when I need the second pair. I walked in with my 90 year old father to get shoes. The salesman knew we drove over an hour to the store and that we needed shoes that would work out with a leg brace. We would see the orthopedist the next day and if the shoes didn't work out, we would bring them back promptly. Well they didn't work out and I came back in less than 24 hrs and the guy who camps out in the back came out and said, "look at our little sign up there about no returns, in store credit only" What??? They knew I might be bringing them back and made no attempt to be sure I knew of their archaic policy. The internet should close this crappy inflexible store. I told the guy that I would let the internet know how ridiculous their policies are. He said "don't threaten me" Well it's not a threat, it's a PROMISE Republic shoes is not trying to help you and you can get better service from the internet. Screw this place!
