I went to this bar about 2 years ago for lunch and had the best nachos with shrimp. I have craved this for years. So I decided to go back recently. BIG MISTAKE. I went during happy hour and ordered the fully loaded nachos with shrimp and was very disappointed. The shrimp had a smell, wasn't fully cooked and the dish was not as good as I remembered. I ordered two happy hour drinks and they were watered down. I had no buzz whatsoever. My fried and I felt rushed to leave the table and I am not sure why - it was packed. It was a normal happy hour crowd but we felt rushed to leave. Bad food, bad drink and bad service. Many of the customers appeared to have been enjoying the festivities based on attire and what they were carrying My bartender, Jessica was ready with a substitute suggestion when the Cuervo I asked for wasn't available. She suggested Don Julio silver tequila. So Jessica made me a margarita with no salt with the Don Julio tequila. After the first I wanted another. I didn't want to use any more cash so I asked if there was a minimum for credit cards. She said no. I ordered the same thing. I told her to keep it open hoping I would have time for another. We were unable to gain access inside of El Cantinero for our Meetup as it was like standing on bread lines during the Great Depression due to the Cinco de Mayo celebration. Reservoir Bar was not crowded on a Tuesday night as there are plenty of flat-screens to live watch sporting events. This bar is accessible near the subways of Union Square. The turkey club sandwich and Cosmopolitan drink were both good. The Cosmopolitan was one of the better ones I've tasted in a long time. Full bar service indeed. I rate it four stars as it is somewhat small, in addition they do not have business cards to distribute to customers as I collect business cards to resturants/bars and businesses I've experienced. I thought this was some new extra skinny fries, but no...its like your typical fast food french fries from McD or burger king. However the WAFFLE fries are a MUST! so yummy and for a big basket for $4, can't go wrong. YUM The sliders: Love, Love, Love the bun on these little bites. Reservoir: Came here on a Sunday night at around 9:30 pm with a group of 7 and there were plenty of open tables. For deals on a Sunday night, I was told a Budweiser draft is $4 and a well-drink is $6 which I thought was not bad. For food, we got the dry wings, buffalo(hot) wings, waffle fries, and nachos with veggie chili. Food: I really enjoy wings and generally use the baseline for wings as Tyson wings and these were worse. When I took a bite of the plain wings, I honestly took a second and considered stopping my current chew and spitting it out. It was cooked through but so blah. For the Hot wings, I guess if you dowse anything with enough buffalo sauce it has to taste good. The hot sauce was not made in house, tasted like Frank's Red Hot, which I actually enjoy but for $10... I could have bought an entire bag of Tyson wings, a bottle of Frank's Red Hot, a roll of tinfoil and made like 30 wings at home. The Blu cheese they had for the wings was not chunky. Over my many years on earth eating wings, this was something I grew accustomed to and was sad to not have it here. The waffle fries were not numerous in number but for each waffle size, they were about the size of half your palm, as long as your palm is the exact size as mine! I ended up using the waffle fries as chips for the nachos and I think that is a good idea. Replace the chips with waffles fries and call it: Waffachos or Naffles, I personally think Naffles has a bring ring to it. The nachos were okay. Again and this is a common problem because most chefs are not intentionally placing chips and toppings, we ran out of chips at the end and I had to use my hands like a barbarian to eat the rest of the guac. If they place the toppings with intention: lay all of the chips out, place cheese/lettuce and chili across all of the chips, slowly drip the sour cream across the chips, and finally put the guac/salsa more evenly. They threw the toppings on the chips without a thought and it was clear :( Price: We each got a drink, all of that food and with a nearly 20% tip, each only paid $14.75, what a steal! I mean you can go to a swanky place in NYC and pay $15 for a single drink so to get this food and drinks was honestly great for my checkbook compared to other bars. Bathrooms: Did not smell horrible. Overall: Come here for drinks and honestly probably do not eat any food because it is below average bar food. read more

Since it's considered a NYU bar there is a distinct lack of Jersey-shoreness ... almost as if this is the sports bar for skinny bookish types. Either way the staff is always friendly and don't mind the occasional drunken groping from patrons and are always willing to partake in shots of jaeger.
